Bought only one TSC DLC during the ongoing Sale, Edinburgh to Glasgow route. A deciding factor was the Steam Workshop route [DPS] Edinburgh to Glasgow - Scenery Extension V5.0F, which, as per the title, provides: Track and scenery extension from Haymarket to Carstairs, Scenery extension from Larbert to Stirling, and Scenery extension at South Gyle. A QD is provided to explore the Haymarket to Corstairs additions. That's what I drove. I chose a CW CR 439 0-4-4T pulling CR carriages, stopping at all stations, though so far as I know Caledonian Railway never ran trains on these tracks. The coaches seem somewhat too blurry/soft-focus. I might have misremembered an Nvidia Control Panel settling or two following a clean driver installed while trying to track down the cause of ongoing PC issues. On the other hand, most everything else looks more or less as it should. To Be Continued . . .
Carstairs to Edinburgh (Princes Street) was indeed a Caledonian line and 439s would have run on the line. The Edinburgh loop line from Haymarket links up with the former line to Princes Street (closed 1965/66).
Remaining captures from a recent Carstairs-Haymarket stopping-passenger-run (QD) on Steam Workshop [DPS] Edinburgh to Glasgow - Scenery Extension V5.0F. The train consists of a CW CR 439 0-4-4T, in photographic gray livery, pulling CR carriages: Possibly my pick-of-the-litter: Nearing terminus: End of run. (I added both this image and my "possible pick-of-the-litter" to my now huge TS Windows Desktop Background folder.): Thanks, and good to know. I knew that Caledonia Railway operated in this area, but based my incorrect assumption that it didn't use these tracks on a bit of online research I did on Edinburgh to Glasgow. I didn't think to research Carstairs-Haymarket as a separate entity.
Boarding the first passengers of the morning in Bucharest North Station, around 2000s. Loco by Train-Motion (payware), carriages by TSR Romania (freeware), route made by Train-Motion (payware) with several third-party libraries. Consist copied from Traffic Screensaver.
Route: Hamburg-Hannover. Train: DB BR 101, ICE T, ICE 1, DB BR 294. Hamburg-Hannover time! 1) Intermodal train passing an express. 2) An ICE 1 passing a shunting service. 3) ICE 1 service passing hannover depot. 4) Up the Hill! 5) Another ICE service passing a regional outside of Hannover.
More CW CR 439 images, the loco now seen in a BR weathered black livery, one of numerous weathered black variants provided with the Pack (add-on Pack included). The train is seen on GNoSR Lines Steam Workshop route:
Sunday Times 1) CP Rail moves empty gons from Eldon to Stephen after an early sprinkle of snow 2) Class 47 (NSE Original) taking tanks up from Portsmouth 3) Alco RS-11 (PRR) pushing empty gondolas up the branch from Johnstown 4) Alco RS-11 (PRR) profile picture in the greens near Johnstown 5) EMD SD40-2 (CN / IC) climbs towards Monument with dangerously tilting stacks
The last of my recent CW CR 439-class 0-4-4T images (for the moment). Now in weathered LMS Crimson Red, again on GNoSR Lines. An atmospheric glimpse of cab interior, illuminated by CW's supplied cab lantern, captured as the train traversed a tunnel:
1) Coffee, Time, Helps, Pushing Through - EMD SD70M rear DPU shoves container wells through Colfax (Donner Pass) 2) Class 101 on the scenic leg of its journey, soon approaching Havant (Portsmouth Direct Line) 3) Class 101 crossing the M80 at Castlecary (Edinburgh-Glasgow) 4) Union Pacific crew prepares to leave Cheyenne for some local work (Sherman Hill) 5) BR 189 transfers a shorter assortment of wagons to Wittlich (Koblenz-Trier)
Am just loving the challenge of this buggar on the Swiis Alps routes. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1147155/Train_Simulator_RhB_Enhancement_Pack_05_AddOn/ No modern cruise control to help you up and down the crazy climbs and descents. all down to driver skill. Loving it.
There is currently a 50% Off sale at Forge Simulation: https://www.theforgesimulation.co.uk/shop/ I didn't know these guys existed until tonight, purchased this trio and OMG how glad I did, they are up there with the best truly amazing locos.
1) SP SD70M and 9-44CW with red coal gondolas - frequent as AI so thought I'd tour it 2) Autumnal moods over North London - and a Class 33 with containers 3) Early summer blooms in Weardale 4) DD35 over Sherman Hill 5) Short royal train with the Diamond Jubilee on the point on old ECML
London Overground Class 172 '172 005' leads a westbound passenger train from Barking to Gospel Oak. Loco: British Rail Class 172 Route: North London & Goblin Lines
Initial visual documentation of two recent TSC purchases. First up, Caledonia Works CR 721 class 4-4-0 tendered steam loco, bought during CW's most recent sale. This particular 721 is No.724 "Jubilee", decked out in CR Light Blue, a color I'm not always keen on, but like here. It is seen during a run from Glasgow Central to Carlisle on WCML-North, acquired during Steam's Winter 2022 sale. I believe that this one time I set both Lamp Code and Route Indicator correctly.
I tend to struggle with photographing blue trains. Try to experiment with seasons, the neutrality of winter and colors of autumn might work well. Open yellow fields should also contrast and complement it. Some routes, such as the updated PDL come with a fairly yellow autumn palette. Red rocks or ground can also be nice, but I only know Soldier Summit. Passing locos or a smaller patch can suffice.
Silverlink Class 150 '150131' leads a train heading from Gospel Oak to Barking during the morning rush hour on a clear Summer day in 2007. Locos: British Rail Class 66, British Rail Class 150 Route: North London & Goblin Lines
Second batch of images documenting a stopping passenger service from Glasgow to Carlisle on DTG WCML_North. Motive power is provided by a recently-acquired Caledonia Works CR 721-class Dunalastair, No.724 Jubilee, seen in CR light blue royal livery. It pulls seven MT CR 6-wheel carriages. This portion of WCML having once belonged to Caledonian Railway, the loco's route-indicator is properly set to "to and from Carlisle". These captures differ from those seen in my initial posting in that the run's start time was moved to 0755, autumn is used instead of summer, and skies are cloudy rather than clear. Also, unlike my initial drive, this second run was driven to completion. This one image overlaps those seen in part one, being captured quite early in the run: I debated omitting the below capture due to people being sunk into the station platform. In the end, I like the image well enough otherwise to let it pass. Had those people been a bit closer to the "camera", I'd have definitely scrapped it, and still might should I have a change of heart: TO BE CONTINUED...
Network SouthEast Class 365 '365530' leads an 8 coach long passenger service from Peterborough to Kings Cross with 8 stops at stations in between. The train departed from Peterborough around 7am and arrived at Kings Cross around 8:30am allowing the sun to rise over the journey of this morning rush hour train in the Autumn of 1997. Locos: British Rail Class 313, British Rail Class 365, British Rail Mk4 DVT Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough
GNER Class 91 '91121' 'Archbishop Thomas Cranmer' leads an afternoon passenger service from Kings Cross to Peterborough with one stop in between at Stevenage in the Autumn of 2007. Locos: British Rail Class 91, British Rail Class 313 Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough
I have spent the last few months driving hardly anything other than AP, Pro-Line, RSSLO, vR etc. high end Locos on some of the more modern up to date routes. I had forgotten how much fun some of the older stock and routes can still be. Just completed a Career scenario with this Class 24 on the Wearhead route and must admit thoroughly enjoyed it.
After my fling with the Class 24 I could not help but stick with the Weardale and take a Q6 Raven for a run Happy days guaranteed when you have an office that looks this good and you can't beat the feeling of boiling up a Kettle
1) UP SD60Ms sandwich an SP SD40T-2, climbing to Colfax shortly after the merger (Roseville Racks, GWD162) 2) Cab Forward descends Donner's west slope on a cold winter night 3) Network Southeast express nears the end of the line at Portsmouth with a Class 47 and matching Mk2s 4) Class 33 with a shorter haul on sunny Weardale 5) Very light clouds over a very standard Sherman Hill scene
Third batch of images documenting, chronologically, a stopping passenger service QD from Glasgow to Carlisle on DTG WCML_North. Motive power is provided by Caledonia Works CR 721-class Dunalastair, No.724 Jubilee, seen in CR light blue royal livery. It pulls seven MT CR 6-wheel carriages. This portion of WCML having once belonged to Caledonian Railway, the loco's route-indicator is properly set to "to and from Carlisle". CW states that sounds for the 721, an early CW release, are taken from surviving CR locos. I do not all at doubt this. Yet ironically its "chuffing" sounds, once it hits 30mph, put me very much in mind of what I consider the classic Trainz steam loco chuffing sound. TO BE CONTINUED...
First Capital Connect Class 313 '313049' leads a semi-fast service from Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross with 3 stops in between at Hatfield, Potters Bar and Finsbury Park on a lovely Summer day in 2014. Locos: British Rail Class 313, British Rail Class 365, British Rail Mk4 DVT Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough
The 85 is probably the loudest of any train in TSC, I felt like I had been to a concert after 30 mins of driving!
Just completed a cracking freight run on the [GA] Dorset Coast Route with this stunning [CW] SR U Class. How much fun was that?
Looks like you had fun Craig! I have just ran 4M27 Class 87 loaded test run down the WCML to Crewe....
The Adriana County Railroad wishes all of its customers, friends and followers a very Happy New Year for .................1976. Available soon on the RWA library. Edit : 30 Dec. Now available - RWA library
Back on the [GA] Dorset Coast Route with the gorgeous [CW] SR U Class, this time with a somewhat less rusty 31633 and a rake of 9x SR green coaches (MT Maunsell). This really is a lovely route to drive, and can't believe I actually managed to arrive at Swanage 2 Minutes early and without firing the boiler over to the other side of Dorset by running out of water LOL. Loving it.
After dealing with my shots of the recent workshop run, trying to preserve the best, I sort of figured I may have thrown out those most soulful. Lesson learned. Anyway, here is five that I've filtered and regret. Wish I could readd these to steam.
Still on the [GA] Dorset route (I'm becoming obssessed with it I admit) Thought I would give the SR U Class a break and run a return service from Swanage to Wareham & back with an SSS 4MT Love the way these scenarios have been created from the opening Log book screenshot to finishing your duty over the Ash pit. Strathclyde Transport Class 314 '314216' leads a passenger service from Bridgeton to Motherwell as the sun rises on a November morning during Autumn. Loco: British Rail Class 314 Route: West Coast Main Line North
