Had a go in the 187 last night, I know the audio has been updated but was awful. A screeching style sound which was unbearable while power was applied. Anyone else had this?
Skyhook is simply not capable or does not want to face the problems properly. In almost a year of waiting for the would-be fix, they just cobbled something together, not even fixing the wrong light configuration. I doubt very much that they have ever dealt with the real 187. This loco is still the biggest piece of junk and is only good as an AI, and even then you get annoyed every time you see it because you remember how much you were ripped off. It would be nice if DTG could get the rights to the 187 and just make it a proper 187.
At first skyhook didn't have sounds, so they used incorrect train sounds. Then they got 187 sounds and somehow messed it up. The sounds are there, but they didn't do it properly. How they were okay with it and went past testing, I don't get. Skyhook said they are fixing it but who knows if they actually will. Since you're on pc, there's a sound mod for it unless you don't like using mods
But it wouldn't work in the tsw engine lol. But like you said if dtg were to create the train, at least the sounds and physics, safety systems, etc would be much better than what shg released with
It probably would be, but that's certainly not a guarantee. I don't have the TS version but it's got mixed reviews so there may be something wrong with it, but even then it's miles better than the TSW version. Also it has scenarios for Strasbourg Karlsruhe, one of my favourite TS routes.
The latest on the 187 from the October Roadmap: We are working with Skyhook Games on upgrading the DB BR 187 audio, and it is now on our Roadmap for the Preservation Crew/Special Projects team.
Hi JD, can you please ask the team how the work is going? Properly progress? It would be nice to have some updated information To put it in context, as you can see from the attached picture, we have been waiting for more than a year to play with this beautiful locomotive.
In my opinion it was just another reassurance post like many others to keep people calm. It always says "looking at" and not "working at" in such posts but only by looking the problems will not dissolve but accumulate and pile up to mountains. And even with "working at" it can take several months or even years until something happens. Sometimes nothing happens at all, no wonder the mood is getting worse and worse.
100% agree. With TSW you always have to assume there will not be a fix sadly until the fix is actually on your PC/Console and is actually working. Such a terrible state of affairs, how could it get this far?
Yes, of course I know about the update. It's impossible to stand those new unclassifiable sounds for more than a minute. I would like to know how someone from Skyhook could listen to that atrocity and say, OK, let's launch it! To me it's inexplicable.
OH, What a great contribution. After a year of waiting, you telling us to just wait is great advice from you. Thank you very much indeed. We wouldn't know what to do without you!
The author of the mod provided them with sounds and a tutorial on how to implement them correctly, seems like Skyhook just messed up the mixing on their side and didn't quite follow the tutorial Including the mod itself probably wouldn't work because you'd have to use uncooked files, which Skyhook doesn't really want apparently
