Assembled a train at Colfax: SP Dash9, 30 loaded coal, SP SD40T-2, 30 loaded coal, SP SD70M. The driver is starting in a siding, another SD70M, coupling to the front of this, then to climb to Emigrant Gap. It appears that the two big locos have zero grip. There is no wheelslip warning as my front loco doesn't, but even stationary it has the slip sound, even with sand. Fun fact, it can actually get going on the 1.5%, although it certainly can't climb the mountain. How would you approach this? The only workaround I can think of is to separate the train to 4-5 parts, so that locos have grip upon loading, and at the beginning of the scenario I let everything slide down slowly to reassemble itself. (And, of course, to simply have all locos in front, same story otherwise.)
I had a problem with a heavy train and I changed the scenario to start with the locos uncoupled from the train. The fist task to to back on to the train then depart - which seemed to work.
Yes. I had a similar situation, and I have one through the Dovetail manual. It was mentioned there as well. Thank you so the suggestion though, it is totally working.
Thank you again Peter, finally got around to set it up, and it's working perfectly. Plus, can confirm now the absence of the weird sound that I assumed to be the wheelslip.
