As noted previously, I recently bought the TSW2 Horseshoe Curve route, which I'm running in TSW3. At the end of some of this route's activities, DTG has found a way to force those of us who have no interest in "rewards" of various types to accept them . . . In case the last few lines of instructions appear too small here, they read: "Head down the track to pick up a hard hat that you can use for the rest of the day" and "Head down the track to grab some coffee at the helper station" Alas, the engineer does not receive either the hard hat (or at the least it is invisible) or the coffee.
It's actually made by skyhook games. I personally don't see any issues with this. Well, you can't really see yourself with a hat on or with a cup of coffee in your hand if you are in 1st person. Also tsw doesn't let you go inside buildings or anything or whatever. Obviously it's just a way of saying you had a difficult day, go and relax
Third option : Showing people things to do in the game they may otherwise not know about Unless you pay attention to the route intro video you may not know about collectibles as a new player
Well, in real life you do get out and do other things while waiting. I've seen engineers go to the bar across the street from an industrial spur. They could be super-realistic and say that you went on the law and then make you wait 2 hours in the cab while the crew bus arrives.
