Experience true high speed on the rails of northern Japan traveling the line of one of, if not the most famous high speed railways in the world, the Shinkansen in Train Sim world 3: Hokkaido Shinkansen. Welcome all, bit of an unusual suggestion here, with it being high speed and all, but trust me, this 92.5 mile long route operated by JR Hokkaido is a true pinnacle of high speed with only 4 highly detailed stations and one of the most interesting landmarks in Japans railways. Enough of that, its rolling stock time. Rolling stock: E5 series: E5 series Shinkansen in JR Hokkaido livery H5 series: H5 series Shinkansen in JR Hokkaido livery Trainings: E5 series introduction (in training centre) H5 series Shinkansen (In training centre) Scenarios: North of the Rising sun (difficulty 2): Train: E5 Series Take this E5 series from Shin Aomori to Shin Hakodate Hokuto calling all stations Down to the south (difficulty 2): train: H5 series Take this H5 series from Hakodate Hokuto to Shin Aomori calling all stations You wanna see speed? (difficulty: 3) train: E5 Series Take this SPEICAL E5 series from hakodate Hokuto to Shin Aomori non stop - Its a rainy days so unfortunately signals will be a pain for this special service but no worries. Just like Midway (difficulty: 4) train: H5 series Take this service from Shin Aomori to Kikonai because an incident has occured at Hakodate Hokuto meaning there will be severe delays after the Seikan Tunnel. Honshu Express Shuttle (difficulty: 1) Train: E5 series Take this irregular service between Hakodate Hokuto and Kikonai and back as a rare rush hour shuttle service. Landmarks: Seikan Tunnel: This is a 33 mile long tunnel under the strait of Tsugaru and is what makes this different to most other Shinkansen routes. Page 2 and 3 will feature the stations (There are like 4 so they will be detailed)
Page 2: Shin Aomori: Shin-Aomori Station (新青森駅, Shin-Aomori-eki) is a railway station in the city of Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). Okutsgaru-Imabetsu: Okutsugaru-Imabetsu Station (奥津軽いまべつ駅, Okutsugaru-Imabetsu-eki) is a railway station on the Hokkaido Shinkansen in the town of Imabetsu in Aomori Prefecture, on the island of Honshu, Japan. It is operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido), and is the last stop in Honshu before the Seikan Tunnel to Hokkaido.
Page 3: Kikonai: Kikonai Station (木古内駅, Kikonai-eki) is a railway station in Kikonai, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) and South Hokkaido Railway Company. Shin-Hokodate-Hokuto: Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station (新函館北斗駅, Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto-eki) is a railway station on the Hakodate Main Line in Hokuto, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). The station – rebuilt and very extensively enlarged to serve from March 2016 as the northern terminal of the new Hokkaido Shinkansen – occupies the site of the former Oshima-Ōno Station (渡島大野駅), and is the northernmost high-speed Shinkansen railway station in Japan.
Interesting that we didn't have this suggested among the nearly 70 existing Japanese proposals. Added to the master list. Here's a side view of a ride between Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and Shin-Aomori: A 2016 collection of sights of E5 and H5 passing through Kikonai Station, Seikan Tunnel entrance and Okutsugaru-Mabetsu Station: A video showing the line's Shinkansen EMUs being sprayed with hot water to remove ice, and ending with a nice evening scene of the Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station area: And an interesting 10-min view from the cab:
Yeah that actually surprised me aswell - This was always one of my bucket list route suggestions but I did check the MLJRS first and surprised this wasn't there.
For Freight you need the EH800 locomotive 20kv & 25kv 50hz locomotive Code K dual voltage electric. To describe E5 & H5 Shinkansen speed of a DB Baureihe 403 TGV Duplex and DB Baureihe 406 ICE3M with the tilt of DB Baureihe 612 thanks to active suspension. To test this out try Boston Providence Attleboro Providence section where you tilt as opposed to ICE3M TGV Duplex derailing as seen on Sam's stream. Best Value is TSW 3 world's longest tunnels with Tunnel Sous la Manche Channel Tunnel UK to France Folkestone Calais as the international route SBB Gotthardbasis Tunnel 57km 35mi Erstfeld Kanton Uri Bodio Ticino gives SBB Reihe 474 484 Rabe 503 to Bahnstrecke Luzern Sursee Olten & Japan Seikan Tunnel 54km 33 mi.
At least this is somewhat plausible for TSW3 via Union Workshop, since they have already modeled the E5 and H5 for TSC.
Eurostar wouldn't be fun - I've actually been in the Eurotunnel and its basically half an hour of pitch black driving just listening to your ears slowly burst (Not literally but like pop) I think the Seikan Tunnel is atleast cool as it isnt the only selling point of a route where the eurostar has a Tunnel and then uses SEHS tracks which - we already own for tsc.
OK then but if DTG wants to bundle the Seikan Tunnel which other longest railway tunnels it can bundle with? The easiest is the SBB Simplon and Gotthard Base Tunnels because they can give Luzern Sursee Freight trains (RE 474 ES64F4 and Traxx Quadvoltage RE484) and Pendolino services. Option 2 is Lainzertunnel Austria SFS Wien Linz Salzburg Westbahn (Ends up changing all German routes due to non HSR sections being PZB. If Bremen Oldenburg was owned OBB Taurus fleet Vectron Baureihe 1293 will run freight) Seikan Tunnel Japan and SBB Gotthardbase Tunnel (gives LZN Rabe 503 501 Re 484 & 474).
