The most straight forward move. Dump a SW1500 switcher on Cajon Pass to do the cutting, switching, and moving of locomotives from and to the work shop as well as freight cars for repair.
Why? BNSF doesn't roster switchers in Barstow or San Bernardino anymore, they've all been replaced by Geeps, or Dash 8s.
Aren't the switchers also not enough power to do the switching moves? And like previous said, I'm not aware of any modern routes where that switcher runs
Clinchfield had SW7s not SW1000s. And I don't believe the models are close enough together to get one out of the other. (Unlike a SW7 vs a SW1200 or a MP15DC vs a SW1500)
Copy That ! I was just throwing out a suggestion based on basic SW body similarities. But I don't think they are that far apart though either in the above shown images. A few small cosmetic changes and you have either or.
How about a CSX MP15DC for Sand Patch Grade? Or maybe an expansion pack that brings back the GP40-2 (with the MP15DC included ofc).
For Cajon, a GP60/GP60M/GP60B or B40-8W would be perfect for switching/local freights. A 3GS-21B Genset would be cool, too. Plus, UP uses GP60s, as does NS. CSX and UP operate Gensets in their yards, and NS has a pair.
YESSS! I love these. I run 4 of them on my freelance HO layout. Would love to see them in the game. Many railways had them and they would fit nicely into a few TSW routes. My 3 HO scale ex CSX genset rebrands...
