I'm in the process of doing a class 66 GBRf livery, and I'm struggling with aligning the lettering and numbers. Has anyone got any advice on doing this? Below is my work in progress, and to me the letters look terrible!
My advice is to firstly make sure all the letters are in the base font and secondly, I make a thin line like you'd find in a school jotter to align my letters, hope this makes your livery easier to make as your WIP lettering looks a bit fiddly, your numbers are fine, it's just your lettering that's dodgy
The base font is almost never right for anything, except sometimes for small markings. Large lettering requires bespoke letters. The secret is to create an artificial baseline to align them to, or use a horizontal already in the 3D model. Also- do all your work big, then group the whole thing and scale it. Working with little letters is a nightmare.
Thanks guys! really appreciate the advice. The hardest part for me now, is creating the double storey 'g' Though now with the grime added it's starting to look much better, and less like a plastic kit! (Now available in the Online Sharing Hub)
Thanks! I'm still struggling with the text though. It would help if the fonts in the livery designer weren't all over the place. Surely it can't be that difficult to have them organised into their own types?
