So lately I've been trying to do the Sand Patch Grade mission "Fully Fueled", but I can't get the banking comms to work properly, I always turn them on before I sit down, but that doesn't work. Heck the only way I've even been able to get the train to move at all is to take the rear units and move them up front, but I feel like this compromises my braking ability. I've gotten banking comms to work before but that was in the training center with ES44's. Idk what I'm doing wrong.
Did you make sure your gen field switch is also turned on? And then everything set up properly like the brakes and stuff?
I found this guide really useful when getting to grips with SPG. The distributed power setup guide should work for the AC4400 too, I think. https://train-sim-world.fandom.com/wiki/Driving_the_SD40-2,_GP38-2_and_GP40-2
Yeah I've followed all that advice. In the mission once you sit down you can't touch the banking comms until you turn everything else on, but apparently for banking comms to work you have to push the button before you touch anything else, hence the "turning them on before I sit down."
OK - I’ve just tried on PS5 and the below method worked for me. Some of the instructions are incomplete so don’t set you up correctly. Start off by following the scenario instructions, except after you've coupled to the back of the consist and you get the 'prepare for multiple working' objective, you need to cut out the brakes and set the M2-UA to trail in order to clear the objective and be told to proceed. Once you're told to go to the lead loco, move the cut-off back to freight, and set the M2-UA to lead so it’s set up as the lead in the pair. Check the radio & HOTD fuse in the cabinet on the back wall, but this will hopefully already be switched on. Now go to trailing loco of the lead pair and make sure it's set up correctly. Then go to the lead loco, but before you do anything, turn on the radio and HOTD fuse - this was off in the run I just did. Then sit in the engineer's seat, turn on banking comm and then follow the rest of the instructions. This should get your distributed power working. You should be able to see the rear lead loco’s throttle move as you notch up/down in the front lead.
I had the same issue with that scenario. This video solved the issue for me. From the description: Fairly short video showing the coupling up and set up of power for the Fully Fuelled scenario, connecting the 2 rear engines, setting each one up and then setting up the engines at the Head end, before setting off.
