I know what you're going to say. "Why bring diesels into a steam route? why not suggest more steam for the route?" because DTG have stated that we won't getting more steam for a while yet. Some example of early BR diesels did start rolling off the assembly line between the early 50s and late 50s so, I'm suggesting that we have a small diesel pack for the route to make it more interesting. Locomotives: BR Class 08 The Class 08 'Gronks' were built between 1952 and 1962 meaning that they would be perfect as shunters on SoS and possibly even as a pilot for Liverpool. This verson of the 08 for sport the same or similar livery that the Class 09 from WSR is wearing which is BR Green with a late crest. BR Class 20 The Class 20 'Choppers' were build in 1957. For the route, they could mainly pull freight and even the odd passenger here and there. The current variant of the Cl 20 in game is the correct type for SoS, however it would need to be repainted into BR Green without the yellow ends. BR Class 24 Build between 1958 and 1961, the BR Class 24 'Rats' could be also used on mainly freight but could also be used on passenger trains. They would wear BR Green BR Class 31 Built in 1957, the class 31 'Goyles' / 'Toffee Apples' could be used on freight along the route. The current verson of the loco in game has only got the route indicator lights however, they originally had headcode disks as were painted BR Green with two white bands wrapping around each locomotive. Please note that I am unsure when BR gave their diesel fleet yellow ends.
Another candidate would be the Class 40, reskinned and backdated. Plus the original LMS diesels 10000 and 10001.
Yep. Could also add the whistler however, I doubt that DTG would add the LMS twins as they didn't survive the cutter's torch
Good luck on that.. DT has more important things to do. They need to do a lot of things better, but probably will never see. I agree with you, that it would add more fun and realism. It is boring with not a lot of action on such a big track network.
I completely agree with this suggestion as, whilst I love the pure elegance of the Steam Locomotives especially the Jubilee Class, I have to admit I’ve not quite mastered the art of driving them yet and I am much better equipped at driving Diesel Locomotives. Plus as you say it would add more variety to the Route which is something I’m more then happy to see
Anything that brings pilot scheme diesel locomotives to TSW gets my vote. I cannot recall a UK diesel locomotive since the Class 20 dlc was launched quite a while ago now. If not from DTG, then perhaps ATS will bring us more British types when they start launching content.
Bring it on and how bout a BR Green Class 101 Daisy DMU & Class 07 Shunter? Remember this route will get Creators club Thomas and friend treatment since you can attach faces to diesel locomotives. So far I've done a DB BR363 Salty on Bremen Oldenburg and Tharandter Rampe
OK then so on Creators Club Class 04 will become Mavis since she's a Class 04. Would that be also in Green Colours or not? Class 04 can layer to Huddersfield Line NTP GWML Diesel Legends and Tees Valley Line
Class 04 first appeared in black and then green BR liveries if I recall correctly. A perfect fit for station pilot duties on SoS and a great layer for more recent routes in BR Blue livery. If it were swapped for the Class 03 then we could finally see them layered on IoW as long as they are the lowered cab variants. In the case of IoW, they would be BR Blue and NSE liveries.
In general, we have a more chance of a new route DLC and expansion packs then a DLC for a DLC. The amount of route DLC that needs additional DLC is appalling IMO
101 could fit as they were built in 1957 but tbh, I would prefer to see a different 1st gen DMU come to TSW rather then recyling the 101 everytime and the BR Class 07s weren't build until 1962 which doesn't fit the route as SoS is set 4 years prior in 1958
The class 101 would have been very rare around that area at the time the route has set. Crewe South briefly had a handful but I suspect they were not used on services to Liverpool. Allerton depot when they received a DMU allocation had Derby built class 108's, however I imagine steam gave way to EMU's on the stopping services.
The 08s would be an obvious choice as in the ten year gap that they were built, 996 were built so they would have been the class 25s of the shunters.
I would have to check, but I suspect that the Classes 20,24 and 31 didn't appear in the North West until after 1958. The initial batches of Classes 20 and 31 were sent to the Great Eastern and I know the low numbered Class 24's worked on South Eastern lines. Few first generation diesels would have been in service by the end of 1958.
Ok... That's... uh... Still nothing to do with the suggestion, player made content isn't connected to the DLC in that way.
