I believe that’s just a general saying all TSW developers and most of the players tend to use. For example, we call the Class 313 add-on a “Loco DLC” as well even though it’s actually an EMU.
One of the teaser videos was taken in Linlithgow station, which is on the line between Edinburgh Waverly and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High. The Class 385 in its 4-car express variant is also mainly operating on that line. We may get some additional branches in the Falkirk area because the 3-car variant operates there, which is also part of the DLC.
Why not? It is a factual and fundamental error. I will add DTG to that then, it makes you wonder what else either party doesn't understand. Certainly in the case of Rivet we have a pretty good idea on that.
Seems like Rivet webpage being rebuilt and inaccessible for some time now... might be promising. I only hope they´ll include the Stirling branch also. It might be added later on like with Meissen branch for Dresden line and I would even pay for it as a DLC if they would throw in lets say an Inter7city HST...
Though "Train Level" would probably be more technically accurate, I suspect "Loco Level" was deliberately preferred for the alliteration. Cheers
To be fair to Rivet it’s only in TSW3 that the game UI has started referring to trains as trains and not locomotives so it is a recent change from it being a loco level in the game architecture. Internally it may still be referred to as a loco level just for continuity. It’s possible. Now of course, referring to a locomotive as a train is wrong if we are going to get all pedantic. None of it really matters when talking about a trophy description.

Those of us who have an eye for accuracy and correct use of the English language. Anyhow I think we have digressed enough. Please continue the adulation over the latest Rivet route and EMU add on...
They make the same error in some WCL scenarios with the cl150 DMU - "Now get into the locomotive cab". A normally unforgivable sin, but one which may be forgiven if they fix said DMU's sounds/physics and deforest Cornwall.
Wondering if something may have delayed the release since the teaser videos suddenly stopped after being posted quite regularly at the end of last year. Let’s hope an announcement happens tomorrow, otherwise all questions in the roadmap stream will be about the route
I wonder the same. Lets hope it was for a good cause like adding last items before official announcement.
If the route code is EDN, I don't see how Glasgow is confirmed. Rivet is known for short routes, and WCL would have been short as the original plan was Penzance to St Austell with the St Ives branch if DTG didn't step in. I have a feeling it will just be suburban Edinburgh.
The route is called ScotRail Express - Edinburgh to Glasgow, it says so in the description of the achievements.
I´m really curious about the surroundings of the Waverley station. Its swarmed with landmark buildings visible from the cab like The Balmoral Hotel, Walter Scott monument, Scottish National Gallery, the whole line of historical building on The Mound not to speak of the castle itself... these should be all custom made assets and I look forward how Rivet handles this.
Let’s hope the scenery looks good! I genuinely have a good feeling because Rivet hasn’t released a proper route in almost a year. IOW 2022 was more of a facelift, after all.
Well I have a feeling that the last releases raised the bar in regard of custom made assets per route and that the Rivet is aware of their previous "failures" with WCL (altough I´m not local so I can´t judge the scenery in general). Glasgow Central was quite good with Rivet being involved in the development... To keep with the theme I just hope for at least the same level of love given to the Köln Cathedral! =)
As stujoy said, it's already been confirmed. Besides, Edinburgh doesn't really have an intensive suburban network like Glasgow does.
Wasn't the original plan Penzance to Truro plus St Ives, with the decision then taken to extend to St Austell after feedback that the proposed route was a bit on the short side. Would be ironic if the whole route from Glasgow to Edinburgh wasn't included and it was Edinburgh to Falkirk!
I know what you mean. A few years ago I worked on a dairy farm, and it was my job to bring in the horses for milking. “I’m just going to bring in the horses” I said to the farmer as I headed out. “They’re actually called cows” he said. Whatever. I didn’t really mind it once, but the next day he tried to correct me again! Bloody pedant. He just wouldn’t stop doing it. Why does it matter? I left soon after that.
Edinburgh only has a handful of stations, and those are across various lines. If there is an Edinburgh route it has to go somewhere else. (Also, the route name in the achievement does quite literally say "Edinburgh - Glasgow")
i’m surprised we still haven’t got a release date yet, meaning tomorrows questions on the livestream are mainly gonna be about this and when it will be out
Usually when the achievements get leaked, it's like 2 weeks before it releases. At least that's how it's been when the achievements leak on steamdb in the past
Yea I’m surprised it didn’t get announced before the roadmap. I can see it all questions about the route
Loads of time before the roadmap yet. And if it hasn’t been announced by then, those questions will be unanswered and pointless asking. Everybody could just wait for the announcement and not get so giddy about it.
you say lots of time, we’ve only got a few hours til tomorrow and that’s when the roadmaps out so i doubt we’ll know before it
Edinburg- Glasgow, aka the "Forest Journey 2" by Rivet ? . Hope to be proved wrong however. Still have low expectations.
Other recent DLC have been announced on the same day as the roadmap article. The roadmap article may not be published until 4pm. Until that time it is ‘before the roadmap’ and one thing we all know is it will be announced at some point. That point could be 2pm tomorrow. It might be next week, It really doesn’t matter when it is, everyone just has to wait for it. No need to panic. If it isn’t announced before the roadmap, no harm will be done.
I think they’ll have to announce it officially tomorrow before the roadmap otherwise the chat on the Roadmap stream is going to be flooded with comments and questions about it.
JD said on Discord that the roadmap will reveal nothing more than the name of the route, so I'm not sure what to make of that. I have a gut feeling nothing will be announced tomorrow.
Let rivet announce it when they are comfortable announcing it. Not a big deal to know when something's coming out right this moment.
Not from Scotland or the UK ( ooh, reminds me of a Lyle Lovett song). Anyway, I'm not sure why everyone is so excited for Edinburgh to Glasgow. I found the TSC version, though well- made, to be something of a yawn fest. Another Electrostar-type train, I expect, all by itself? Unless it's the 170 dmu? Wonder if it includes the refinery and the Grahamston branch? Freight services?
It will be a route which would be so much better if done in the 80s and I can tell you that one now for free. Scenery wise I am from Lincolnshire so it will be a scenic experience if we make it above sea level and I will be astonished and amazed by the 'hills' which to the Scots are probably just bumps!
I'm hoping the 385 not the only train it's very underwhelming to say the least,i know rivets game can do better then this.
Looking forward to hearing diddly squat from Rivet and from DTG in the Roadmap later! I'm sure it'll be out soon, I guess people just have to be patient!! This is an important road map as it should set out DTG's intent for 2023. A new year, a new start, I'm sure that will be parroted or words to that affect. Proof is in the pudding!
My thoughts exactly. Apart from the climb out of Queen Street - great fun with a 40 or 26 - it's almost entirely level, scenery wise a few small hills and drumlins but nothing to get the juices flowing. And I just cannot see Rivet doing it justice, though happy to be proved wrong. In terms of a route from Scotland, I would much rather have had Ayr to Stranraer or part of the West Highland than what is going to amount to yet another A to B electrified commuter line.
I guess that commercially, the devs need to think about what will sell well. The EDI-GLA route is very busy in Scotland and will be familiar to a large number of players who are in Scotland. This could of course come back to bite them if the route is not up to scratch, but it'll be a route many will probably want to buy, even if it's mostly for the 385!
