I totally agree with you. I like Class 66 but not in every single UK route. So much other good stuff that could be created.
Yes, we need more variety from just the Class 66. Why not the 59? Spoiler It may be a joke as they are very similar but I would like to see a Class 59 in TSW, particularly the original 1985 ones with the unique headlights.
Could it be a GBRF class 50 as it could be the dieseil electric one. However it could be the snow hill lines as the line has diesel electrics and hydralics operating on the line.
3.GDG-R7 02] Skyhook Games Could this be a mistake or was it done deliberately for some kind of hint ? The only routes they made in Train Sim World are 2 in North America. A bit strange that this is indicated as a UK route several times! Could it be that we go back to the second british route created for Train Sim World the (West Somerset Railway) ? But then add a new route This should be all the locomotives still in operation today on heritage lines. trains Diesel-hydraulic Class 52 already exists in TSW 3 class 35 new Class 22 new Class 42 new Diesel-electric new class 50 new class 34 new class 56 new class 69 new class 55 With all the trains already in the game, too many to list. The list of locomotives running on (Diesel-hydraulic) is very small hence my conclusion shows a second heritage railway such as Severn Valley Railway conclusion came through: route 2011 + and 1 diesel locomotive which should be listed below
Hey, could one of the trains be a hst as they are diesel electric but also as we know skyhook games make models for tsw3 they might've assisted with the hst being livery designer compatible hinting maybe the release of a route with it.
The main train type operating on the Snow Hill Lines is the Class 172, which unusually has a diesel mechanical transmission.
I think you are reading into something that doesn't exist. The only other route to match the GDG-07-1 code is the GWE, the WSR was GDD. IMO, another heritage route would be supremely boring. I struggle with WSR because of the low speeds and frankly, quite boring gameplay. There are a number of modern (or recently scrapped) Diesel Hydraulic units to pick from. I'm suspecting it's more likely to be a northern or midlands route, possibly even anglia. I'm of the impression that another heritage line wouldn't be of intrest to many people, myself included.
Could it be possible that skyhook made the rhtt + reskin for dtg? Not turning bogies like the kfa wagons currently usualy only happend with cane creek. Same as the 44cw bogies the wrong way around in cane creek. Only skyhook seems to fail at those aspects.
I doubt it's gonna be a heritage railway, there are plenty of modern routes here which still operate diesel-electrics and diesel-hydraulics such as routes in the North.
Most of the current generation of DMUs are Diesel Hydraulic and could therefore be possibilities. As much as I would love to see the early WR Diesel Hydraulic locomotives like Warships (all 3 types), Hymeks, Teddybears and Baby Warships, I don't believe that is what is coming.
Oh yes that’s true. I’d forgotten about that thing. a Class 220 / 221 would be a lovely addition to the game.
I’d like a Pacer as long it has the original interior, the one that looks like a bus. I used to get one of these into work. They were horrible little things in real life but would be good in the game.
The Pacers were (mostly) diesel-mechanical; in fact the original series used the "self-changing gears" transmission from the Leyland bus it was based on. The 144, however, was diesel-hydraulic - in fact used the same tranny as the Sprinters..
Very different. The Sprinters were genuine trains; the Pacers were Leyland buses stuck on two-axle freight wagon chassis.
If I recall the class 141 had a mechanical gearbox as did the class 142's orignally but they were all "upgraded" to Voith hydraulic transmission in the 1990's.
Wikipedia articles state info for the Class 142,143 and 144 as all being mechanical when first built and later upgraded to hydraulic. I can’t verify if that info is correct though.
SVR would be fantastic includes six lovely stations and an interesting heritage railway. One of my wanted lines too.
Okay it is probably correct then. I do remember in the late 80's there were failures due to gearbox issues, that is why a lot of first generation DMU's hung around longer than intended.
If that were to be the case on the pacer then you must drive them like an Ageing Class 101 due to the mechanical transmission otherwise if automatic manual transmission like a lorry then run them like a DSB IC4
The main contender here is probably Chiltern mainline London Marylebone-banbury. locos: Class 66 Class 70 (loco DLC) Class 166 (AI at banbury) Class 165 (maybe loco DLC) Class 168 Class 68 MK3 DVT Stations: London Marylebone Wembley stadium Sudbury and Harrow road Sudbury and Harrow hill Northolt park South Ruislip West Ruislip Denham Denham golf club Gerrards cross Seer green and Jordan’s Beaconsfield High Wycombe (terminating stopper 165’s) Saunderton Princes risborough Haddenham and Thame parkway Bicester north Kings Sutton Banbury (terminating some 168’s/165’s semi fast) miles: 62.34 miles (100KM) Max speed: 100mph
Surely the class 165 would be the most important stock for this route as don't they form most of the "local" services? As far as I know the class 168's are mainly used on Snow Hill and Kidderminster services. I suspect personally it is going to be a route from Wales or somewhere in the north west.
Although it fits the route code, Chiltern Main Line would be extremely unlikely IMO. Banbury would be a weird point to stop at (surely you'd want to go to Snow Hill?) and I don't see a third-party developer doing a brand new DMU, brand new Class 68 and a DVT as well as a 100+ mile route with 31 stations (more than we've ever had in a route before I think). Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it done well (it's my local, ish) but I think we're a few years away from developers being comfortable enough with the tools to produce something of that scale at a sensible cost/timeframe. Far more likely IMO to have a Sprinter or Turbostar-based route somewhere a bit quieter / more rural - I'd be surprised if it was more than a dozen stations and 40 miles tops for their first UK route.
Now that's one collectable even I could go for! Throw in some roast beef and it's a day one purchase.
Still convinced it'll be a picturesque route as we don't really have a UK route with stunning views, well, apart from Dagenham. Settle to Carlisle West Highland Line Eastbourne to Ashford Gospel Oak to Barking Wherry Lines I reckon one of the above.
could the Riviera line be a possibility, since they already have some experience with Landscapes. Although they have done a nice job in their first route (Cane Creek) Skyhook Games, in terms of everything that goes with it to make the environment beautiful and realistic. I'm confident they won't do too badly on their first UK route. Although it would be nice if it were to be one where nature radiates beautifully. If the Transmission also counts, then my guess is anyway on these two. Class 220 = Transmission Diesel-electric Class 150 = Transmission hydrokinetic
Regarding anything which includes Great Western Railway branding, I’ve heard they’ve pretty much blanked DTG in terms of letting them use their branding again. So that pretty much rules out any modern Western based route.
Do you know why though? Although if it is true, there are ways around it. If 'modern' means post-privatisation I'm sure old GW branding such as Great Western Trains could be used, or an unbranded livery like Island Line was.
I suppose they may be ‘busy’ with other things, such as trying to run a real life operational railway. I heard the original person, who was quite enthusiastic about the railway and trains and managed to let DTG use their branding, has unfortunately left the company (GWR). It seems they’re now not really interested in negotiating with DTG or anything simulator related.
Unfortunately this seems the case more snd more. What can be more effective than free advertisement spreading over the internet, in this case tsw? Well shame their brains are not as fast as their trains....
Their trains aren't even that fast these days. I can't remember the last time I travelled from Cardiff to London and arrived punctually.
