Was I right in seeing that there will be a depot in this dlc to use?

Yes, there is a depot. Rivet have just released a walkaround preview of the 385 that takes place in a depot that is completely filled

Yes Eastfield is one depot and I believe Haymarket (Edinburgh) is the other. There are ECS moves if I remember rightly.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I lived in Edinburgh for several years and even walked the canal from Edinburgh to the Falkirk Wheel at one point.

I'm hoping we'll perhaps get a glimpse of the Falkirk Wheel along the route as well as some sweeping views over the Orchil Hills from the line near Falkirk High, and… will we maybe be able to spot Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument in the distance I wonder?

I'm also pretty excited about the first working lift in the game. It's always annoyed me they've not been interactive in the past.

It’s definitely Eastfield shown in video, At some point in the video just after they board the train it comes up “would you like to give up service ?” That service stated is Eastfield Depot to Glasgow

Edit: plus side that confirmed Player Depot Services

From the walkaround Preview the train looked really good and interactable with the 1st class blinds etc... And non of that horrible 2+3 seating that isnt arranged with the Windows.

Looking Forward to it, hopefully it has an engaging timetable and a scenarioplanner to Work with.

The train walk around looked stunning. The interior appeared nicely lit too. Only issue was one of the seats magically appeared from nowhere. Looking very good so far.

It’s going to be interesting to see the trams whiz through Edinburgh from outside hay market. Wonder if we will hear the trams bell that you hear every 2 minutes in real life Edinburgh lol.

Maybe .. they're probably just remodeled "cars" doing loop-the-loops.

What would people rather have? All the gimmicks this route has or some operational interest ie route via Grahamston and some branches. I'm not sure putting working lifts in etc has much point other than folk saying oooh nice and the forgetting it when the next Busy UK location comes out with one train.

I'm sorry but stuff like working lifts and especially PIS announcements are the things that separate a good simulator from a great one. They're not "gimmicks", they're the things that put the "world" in Train Sim World. I can't understate how important having PIS announcements is. The lack of them is the reason I never play Bakerloo, you're hearing the voice constantly in real life so the immersion simply isn't there.

It’s not as easy as it seems. Keep in mind - even only the direct line from Edinburgh to Glasgow is already Rivet’s longest route by far. Getting the station announcements and cool stuff like elevators and more interiors is just a great bonus on top of an already solid offering. I’d rather have a very nice and high-quality mainline with tons of features than a rushed and buggy network of lines.

How about the Scotrail Train-shaped pots? This route should have them too

It was confirmed that the Choo Choo blue plant pots first introduced to TSW on Cathcart will be making a return (not as collectibles) as scenery objects on Edinburgh to Glasgow

Specifically, I recall it confirmed by Jasper in the Interview Article with JD

I hope they implemented the 2 minute start up period, apart from that, as long as no major issues I’m excited to go for a day release purchase

Hope so. The additional train customizations are great to have, but only if you have enough time to engage with them when loading from the time table.

Looks really good, albeit very empty, really hope they pad the platforms out with some 385’s at the very least

Is it just me or does the voiceover in this video sound VERY similar to the station announcement voice at Scotrail stations?

From the time lapse it seems there are 3 platforms in use.

No, it's just someone who works for the rivet game team. She has done announcements before, but her voice does come close to the real-life Platform announcement. So far the route looks so amazing, especially the different building parts or assets they look so real. Hopefully, this will be the case for all upcoming DTG routes as well.

very impressive work put into the station, seems very open, relieved very much they don’t lock it to the platforms

the additional elevator also helps bring it up with an extra feature, likewise with the Piano and Open rooms

I noticed they even included interiors for WH Smith (Renamed I assume on licensing grounds) and if I remember correctly Costa ? to the left

looking forward to seeing more on this route before release :)

Edit: I will say after seeing the first image of Edinburgh Castle I wasn’t 100% convinced of it, but after seeing it on a grander scale in this Waverly showcase it looks very impressive

I think it may be at least 6 if going by the main destination display board is anything to go on, it appears at least 6 of them are active

Take notes DTG, THIS is what a station should look like, with shops, areas to be discovered and to walk around other than directly on the platform. Not just the Standart Platforms and generic underpass as for most stations in game as of now.
Even big stations like Cologne are completely made up and unrealistic as soon as you get down the stairs from the platforms.

In terms of scenery, Rivets recent releases are up to DTGs standarts, if not higher with this route, we just need to know about the quality of sounds and physics of the 385.

It is genuinely boggling how small 3rd parties take these extra steps each time, but the behemoth in charge is mostly taking shortcuts...

I hope you are correct. I guess if we go by the LursenSursee route they did include AI from the other branches. In that route they didn’t include any short trips that I figure they could have right before it branched out. So I’m not getting my hopes up. Still looks amazing

I am quietly optimistic about this route. Rivet still has a lot to prove given some of its poorer quality work on TSW, but my early thoughts on this route are very positive and hopeful. Who knew Rivet could end up piling the pressure on DTG within its own product?

Yes, also Rivet is sneaking in major features the community wanted like working guard panels and now the announcements. So maybe they arent as bad as some still say.

I'm still waiting to see the timetable details but the little teasers put out so far are really impressive (especially considering the smaller team at Rivet).

I'd also say that I prefer these videos showing off the detail over the more cinematic DTG trailers (and we seem to be getting more of them, further from release which is also nice to see). That might just be me though.

I'm also really looking forward to the new route, the new great details like the announcements, the working elevators, the beautifully designed cities, but...

Why do you construct such "tunnel vision" cabs where you can hardly see anything of the track (I know, Rivet can't help it)? The Class 385 is really the craziest thing I've ever seen in this direction.

IIRC, didn't the Scotrail drivers have major issues with visibility and the first units had to be sent back to Hitachi for modifications?

My guess is that the crashworthiness demands the drivers position and cab structure. This in combination with the necessary corridor leads to the bad sight. I guess viewing the scenery was not a design criteria.

Yes. The windows were curved originally and had to be replaced with flat ones.
