Hey everyone, I am playing one of the first missions with the rail line from Aachen to Cologne. There is a point, when you leave the station where a signal shows, that you are allowed to go 80KM/h. But after that there is a bridge with no sign or symbol whatsoever, and my train tells me i can go 160Km/h.... But why? What is the rule behind that? Thanks for your help in advance, Jens
From what I know about the German Signaling, there are speed limit marks on signals to warn for upcoming signal indications, speed limit changes, and other things the dispatcher wants you to be aware of. Unlike in TSC, these aren't enforced in game with all safety systems off (excluding SIFA). If you have PZB/LZB on (I think) they should regulate the speed. In this case, if you were driving with PZB/LZB off, the signal speed limit wont enforce on the HUD or on the train, it only does if you have PZB/LZB on from what I know. Hope this helps!
The 80kph speed restriction is valid only through the "points", or the set of switches redirecting you back onto the mainline. After you clear the points, the speed restriction is no longer valid and you are permitted to increase to track speed - in this case, 160kph. In real life, drivers have a detailed timetable (Buchfarplan) denoting the kilometer marker at which the points are cleared and the speed restriction no longer applies. There are no lineside signs or signals showing the change. Hope this helps - German signaling and safety systems are fascinating!
