Seen in the winter of 1987, a class 37 is clearing the rails of snow outside of Glenfinnan on its way to Mallaig on the West Highland Line Extension.
The first signs of electricity are starting to make their way into the Rockies, though only barely. It's a quiet night on the Clear Creek lines, and the last local mixed of the night is working its way down the switchbacks from Central City to Black Hawk.

The sun is already low as a railtour crosses Ribblehead Viaduct (in the Settle-Carlisle route of course) casting long shadows in mid-afternoon. I've stopped entering these competitions for now, I prefer just driving the trains to posing them for screen grabs, but I did these for an earlier competition and thought I'd try them again.
On a clear, cold winter morning an EE type 3, later Class 37, crosses Lands Viaduct (in The Weardale and Teedale Network in the '60s) with hoppers no doubt appreciating the brief respite it offers from the otherwise relentless climb up Cockfield Fell.
Amazing shots folks - I must confess to having a bit of a favourite already... The thread is now closed for entries and open for voting!
Hey folks, Congratulations to Meeper5 for a second win in a row - this time with a stunning shot of Soldier Summit. You'll find it on a laoding screen near you very soon... We'll be taking a quick break from the Screenshot Contest over the next couple of weeks, but we'll be back to a new season of competitions in the new year. NOTE: The time that we'll be down will not count towards the '4 weeks as a Loading Screen' allotted to our current winners.
Congratulations Meeper5 for a great shot with that snow on the loco and the sensation of it driving past
Most, if not all of, DTG's staff are off for the holidays. First one of the new year should be the first week of January.
