Attention to TrainSim-Martin or TrainSim-James or TrainSim-Luke and others who are interested to read I have a question about " Access Violation " in Train Simulator 2019 with 64-bit edition. Before your team created the 64-bit edition of Train Simulator 2019 and we never see with " Access Violation " popped up on the screen to show the error and now we get these. Is there a reason for this to have this " Access Violation. " Well I kept sending the crash report file and dxdiag txt to dovetail games kayako and kept telling me different things with the problem like one after another when I get Access Violation on different routes and scenarios. Seem to me that DoveTail Games don't like third party rolling stock repaints. Well my problem is that the creator of scenario have the rolling stock listed and some of the rolling stock I don't have these because of previous Train Simulator like 2010 or 2012. And I found the same rolling stock repaints that have missing rolling stock so I replaced them in scenario. Then I am in simulator after choose route and scenario and get Access Violation. Can I get bypass this ugly Acess Violation so I can run the simulator or you can give me the old Train Simulator rolling stock that I don't have. Thank you, John
Hi John, Sorry to hear you're having problems with Train Simulator, I'd like to look into this in greater detail for you. Please can you share your Kayako ticket number with me so I can review where things are. As a general rule, we're often unable to support players who are having problems with content that is not available on Steam as there are lots of unknown factors at play. However, I would like to investigate this further for you - and see if there's anything we can do to get you up and running again. Best, Steve
John, I'm sorry for taking over your topic to respond to Steve, but I'm also having similar issues and I'd like to share my opinion about it. Hi Steve, Although I understand your ( DTG ) position to not really be able to support players who have problems with third party content, it would very nice of your team to at least propose solutions* to the problems people might find. Many of us virtual railfans own a lot of content which is not exclusively from Steam, many of which content is either freeware or payware. I'm having also this issue with the access violation with what I believe is to be a sound issue. Curiously enough, the 32bit TS 2019 plays the scenario just fine, but I want to be able to take advantage of the full potential of 64 bit. So clearly there's a compatibility issue. The question is: Will you update your own software to be able to read and play all sorts of third party content or would you be able to tell third party developers ( and everyone else in general ) what do they have to do, in order to update their content accordingly to work with 64 bit without causing these random crashes? * As for solutions I mean to not just simply suggest to change the sound file between 32 to 64 bit or install any other dependencies, despite having all of them already. It does not work. ( and I kindly do appreciate the effort your team does via e-mail responses ). Thanks for reading. Regards, BRD
Hi BRD, We should always be trying to provide some direction where there is a clear understanding of the problem and the resolution, and if there are any such instances where this has not happened, we'd really like to hear about them so we can look at what needs to change so it does. It would be really useful, if you haven't submitted a ticket, to do so (link here) - and provide our Support Team with the content you're having a problem with - this will help us in reproducing the issue, diagnose the cause and understand the resolution. If that results in highlighting a fault with our software, then our Support Team have the tools available and the ability to provide a practical example and reproduction steps to the guys who do the work on the core code which often leads into a public patch. If it's a fault with the add-on, then we can often relate the resolution back to the developer in the same way we always have - many of whom we already work with. I hope this covers the bulk of your questions but please let me know if I've missed anything. Best, Steve
First of all want to say thank you to you for your time to reply and I strongly feel that is not necessary to submit a ticket to your support team. Because of this is that every time I submitted a report to your support team and tell me different thing what need to be fix. I don't feel that is necessary for that. I am not going to name a person but am sure that you know who is your support guy. He kept tell me one thing need to be removed so I did. Thought that my train simulator is working after removed but still have access violation. So I submitted another ticket to the same support guy and he tell me another program to remove. Why is he kept telling me one after another to remove. I would like to know how the support guy diangose the problem by the software program or use his head to figure out. Thank you, John
Hi John, Firstly, I have not asked you to submit a ticket to the Support Team, please see the response for you below: Please can you share the information requested above so I can investigate this further for you. Best, Steve
See here is the error report below: F:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\TempDump\ Exception Code: 0xC0000005 Exception Info: ACCESS VIOLATION Please contact our Customer Support Team at https://dovetailgames.kayako.com That is the one I am getting all the time. John
Hello Steve, Here is what I did with my program of Train Simulator 2019 on my desktop. Click the " Steam " icon on desktop to start loading the program of Train Simulator and I right click Train Simulator to run 64-edition. Then I clicked the third party payware route, BNSF Seattle Subdivision and selected one of the scenario with no missing rolling stock at all. No problem to load up onto the screen with this route and scenario then I clicked the right hand icon on top of the leading locomotive and bingo crash to Steam page with the message popped up with Access Violation. You see my previous message above that I posted few minutes ago. And do you want to see the log report and here is below: Start collecting information about the crash... Hi Steve, Thanks for your prompt response! The impression I get from DTG support is that if the content is third party, you won't really bother to provide a fix for it. Which is fair, as it is not your product and I understand that fully. However, it seems strange that many people seem to have these access violation errors coming from 64bit. I wonder if you are willing to actually test third party ( freeware ) content in order to reproduce the actual problem. I believe you aren't, but maybe I am wrong. Come to think of it - I never actually did send the log file after having the dump error. Yet I was told to install dependencies and such, as usual. I shall try contacting you guys again about it. In the meantime I will also try to contact the freeware developer. Regards, BRD
Hi John, Thanks for providing this but I asked for your Kayako Ticket number... so not sure why you've provided me with an output log instead - the two are completely unrelated. If you're confused by what I'm asking for, I can guide you if you feel you need it. I have been able to trace your crash dump however (from the information provided above). Could you follow the steps to run LogMate, and then repeat loading into the scenario until you see the Access Violation error again, and then share the LogMate Log file with me. Best, Steve
Sorry for misunderstanding what you asked for. And I will get the LogMate log for you here. As I know your office will be closed shortly for the day as my time is 5 hours behind yours. Thank you, John
Hi John, No problem - I've sent your crash dump off for analysis anyways which should reveal what's going on. The LogMate log will be really useful to explain more about what the software is actually doing just before the crash. Between the two, I'm hopeful it will tell us exactly what's going on here and I should be able to give you a proper resolution or at least be able to get a Bug Case built for the coders to do something with the core software code Best, Steve
Thought to let you know that all IS good now and I have to remove all workshop routes and scenarios. I am not sure which one is corrupted but anyway it's all clear in workshop part now. All I do is to get one scenario at a time to subscribe then see what happen with this. If I see that is the problem then I will unsubscribe this right away also write down on the list so I will know not to subscribe again. Thank you, John
