Cross Country Trains does exactly what the name suggests Cross the Country which is why I believe we should get this a Train DLC rather than be Introduced in its own route because the vast majority of routes it use have other trains running on it which would take away from any future route DLC's that are yet to come, another advantage of this is multiple new trains created in detail due to not being sacrificed for time by making a route, this would also help Populate the routes we already have for example: GWE from Paddington-Reading using the 220, 221 and 43 HST. Birmingham Cross City Line from Birmingham New Street-Bromsgrove + the extra its of route needed between Kings Norton and Birmingham which would use the 170, 220, 221 and 43 HST. Cathcart Circle Line at Glasgow Central to be used as AI with the 220, 221 and maybe HST (I'm not sure of their range) Edinburgh-Glasgow Line Via Falkirk High at Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket with the 220, 221 and maybe HST. West Cornwall Local although this is a route set in the past, in real life cross country does run on the entire route so it could be a possible layer or only for scenario planner it would use the 43 HST, 220 and 221 220 and 221 Built by bombardier as a part of the voyager family of trains the 220 and 221 DEMU's (221=5 coaches 220=4 coaches)have a top speed of 125mph and are Cross Country's flagship train. they were previously from Virgin Trains and ran on the WCML and the NWC but since the now defunct Virgin trains Now Avanti west coast) is phasing out their last 221's they are coming to XC. (the main difference between the Virgin Voyagers and the XC ones is that the XC ones no longer have tilting capabilities) class 170 The class 170 was also built by Bombardier as a part of the Turbostar family (incl 170, 171, 172, 168) and have a top speed of 100mph consisting of either 2 or 3 coaches and they run all of Cross Country's regional services they can most often be seen in the Midland areas (both west and east Midlands) Class 43 HST The HST also known as the Intercity 125 (named after its top speed of 125mph) is the fastest diesel train in the world and achieved a world record of 148mph. It entered service in 1976 and is still in service to this day (making it 57 years old!) with Scotrail and Cross Country. Cross Country is one of the last operators to continue using the HST and to keep doing so they had to make modifications to the doors so that they are automatic and DDA compliant.
Cross country couldn't happen. Dtg don't have the license in tsw and did lose the cross country license in tsc. So it's possible it's never going to happen, so no routes or dlc
There’s an easy way around this create fictional routes use trains as suggested but livery them differently for example a DTG liveried 170 as DTG wouldn’t need to licence thereselves to use there own brand livery can just picture it in my head now issue solved
The cross country trains go Edinburgh to Glasgow central, not via Falkirk High, but would be a welcome sight at Edinburgh Waverley & Haymarket. However not sure they’re likely to give licensing permissions
People wouldn't be happy since it's a obvious fake livery and dtg not creating any unlicensed content. The main locomotives that come with a route should at least be licensed and authentic. Iow 2022 got lots of poor reviews on steam cuz of the fictional livery.
I dont really know my thoughts on an "AI" Train pack. ITs good for scenarios and thats litterally it - Debatable XC getting a route via BNS would be amazing. But also licensing.
Just because they don't have it now doesn't mean they can't get it in the future since they lost it its probably unlikely but not impossible
This idea would be AI for a few routes but BCC,GWE and WCL would be playable plus its also more future proofing than anything else because so many routes are used by cross country
I don't mean they run that route via Falkirk High I just mean that the route is already in the game and cross country would be AI at Haymarket and Waverley so that there is more than just 385s
They are but that's because XC is operated by Arriva and the parent company for Arriva is DB. DB is/was trying to offload the Arriva brand which includes XC.
