Remarkable work. I don't do mods usually, but if I ever get this route I think I would have to use these. You have to question why the signal aspects were released in such a sorry state. There are other routes where trackside signals are difficult to read, too.
Good evening everyone, as you know I am indeed inputting towards this new Enhancement Collab. I've been relatively busy behind the scenes as I've been having a few issues mostly with the said Class 385, but I'm happy to report I've got something which I can share to you all. Note that these are Work In Progress and may change: Recently I've discovered how to properly export Blender meshes into UE4 without the skeleton/animation rigging from completely breaking and I'm happy to report this method works a charm and everything works as it should. This might possibly be the biggest gamechanger for me as I can now basically alter any train mesh the way I want to (and possibly even more) But for now please welcome a "revised" version of the Class 385/1 DMCL with the correct to era First Class branding. Blender mesh editing: This is one of a few things I'm changing for this route, expect more updates in due course.
I gotta ask: How on earth are you doing these, and how are you doing them so fast ? What tools do you use if I may ask, and how much work do you put into this, by being able to do so much in so little time ? It is mighty impressive !
Tools generally used are just freeware ones. For texture editing it's mostly Paint.NET (what I use) some others may use Photoshop. For anything UE4 related such as Materials & Blueprint reference editing etc there's this simple yet incredibly powerful tool called UAssetGUI which is basically makes what has mostly been shown above possible thanks to how easy it is to make changes & add/recalculate nodes etc For importing the edited Textures & Meshes etc I use the bog standard Unreal Engine 4 editor which can be installed with the Epic Games Launcher. Some people use the Community Editor but I still haven't grasped that yet, it's the next big step for me!
Amazing work as well SprattyHeath. You along with Londonmidland, are the only reason why this game get betters and more realistic, and enjoyable to play. I can't wait to see what other mods you are going to show us. Keep up the amazing works.
Hi. As Spratty mentioned, I used a tool called UAssetGUI. This allows me to change lighting colours and values via the blueprints and materials. For textures you can used pretty much any decent image editing software.
Is there any chance you can update the Scotrail logo on the 385 to alturnate between the "scotlands Railway" and the "Rèile na h-Alba". It seems odd that they neglected to include that, I assume it's also on the 385s?
Sorry for the poor quality, but it's a still from this video . It looks like it's on the Pantograph coach only for both the 385/0 and /1.
I had a look myself and this does indeed look to be on just the PTS, I'll adjust it accordingly, thanks.
inside the 385 cab b the top left lcd monitor is flickering a lot (cloud reflections and such) if it is possible to just make it a non reflecting black screen that would be nice
Thank you to Spratty Heath and London Midland for the mods that bring this game alive. I only bought Birmingham Cross Country due to the mods pack. If I created a train sim and others were making mods that enhance it so much more I would be asking my team what on earth we are doing! The modified signals should be the default ones surely?
DTG are welcome to use my signal visuals. I’ve even made a thread about it here. All they need to do is to message me.
Afternoon guys. Some lighting changes I’ve made: - Glasgow Queen Street’s dim and dreary lighting replaced with high intensity LED lighting, as per real real. (Also notice how you can now see the signals at the end of the platform) - Station lights now emit a light (emmisive material) instead of being an unlit texture
Hi there, so I attempted to create a custom Gaelic logo for the PTS but unfortunately I ran into multiple issues while trying to do so, one of which was an overlapping texture issue which I simply couldn't resolve so I wont be able to add it in to the mod I'm afraid.
Why not put the Scots language on the side of trains? According to the 2011 Scottish census there are many more people able to speak it than Gaelic. Maybe Scots is considered too close to English... mind you Gaelic came over from Ireland so go figure. Pictish anyone?
I am a graphic designer so can supply the logo as a whole or elements like the Saltire or Gaelic Strapline individually in any format required if that's any help?
I appreciate this very much, I actually already have this logo but will keep this for future purposes
I can recreate a logo at any scale and supply in any format so if you need anything in future just ask, I would be happy to assist
All I can say is WOW, to what you guys are doing to enhance our appreciation of this route. Waiting patiently for it to come out.
Just done a run from E2G, looking forward to LM's improved signals as the default are indeed a wee bit lacking in brightness. Mind you it is quite fun playing with the various announcements throughout the journey hihi.
I feel my passengers are begging that the end cannot come soon enough . Just a shame the Dunblane and Alloa ones don't work :'(
Good evening guys. Some great progress on fixing the missing emissive (light) from the signals on the Edinburgh to Glasgow route. A side by side comparison and I think I’m happy with how it turned out
Morning all. I’ve significantly upgraded the lighting at Glasgow’s Eastfield Depot. The old dim and patchy lighting has been upgraded to much brighter, high intensity LED lighting. The lighting spreads out a lot further as seen in the comparisons.
Every single upgrade made here makes the original product on offer look more and more amateurish. Beginning to think it was a blessing it wasn’t available to PS on launch day….
if only mods like these were available for console. are you going to be fixing the lighting at waverley as it’s stupidly dark?
I think a lot of PlayStation players will be disappointed if it releases like it was on launch day. There are so many glaring issues which I have been able to fix in a matter of days. It really shouldn’t have been launched in this state.
not the best photos, but you can see the high intensity LED lighting at the ends of the platforms, whereas in game you can also see it’s pitch black
olly.smail Thanks. I won’t be able to fix the dark platform ends, as that requires Rivet to actually place the missing light assets, however, I can fix the dim lights within the station building. I’ll replace them with white bright LED lights, as shown in the above picture.
Thanks for all your great work making TSW better Londonmidland. Just bought you 3 coffee's friend. Enjoy.
I wonder what Rivet or DTG think to the work you've done. Surely some at Rivet must see it and be embarrassed by what you're able to produce in less than a week? Let's hope it gives them a rocket to want to produce something of the same level of quality. If I was on PC I'd definitely buy you a coffee.
Londonmidland are you on a mission. Amazing work it's stunning. I have a pc and PlayStation 5 guess which version I will be buying. Thank you so much
LondonMidland literally did this in a week without the proper dev tools and it's a total game changer for the route. Time schedule is no excuse here at this point for a dev team consisting of several people and proper dev tools.
i think a problem with the devs is they’re not necessarily train enthusiasts themselves, meaning they’re not too fussed about the reality of it, which is why i’m glad ATS is onboard as they are a group of well knowledgeable rail enthusiasts who i will imagine will take a lot of pride in developing routes/trains etc
It shouldn't matter whether they're train enthusiasts or not. Surely they want to do the very best they can at whatever they do? I agree with ATS and Just Trains for that matter, they can't come soon enough.
