MPV looks fantastic, please let us know when the V2.0 is good to go on ATS, looking forward to seeing this in action!
A little bit of 153, and the final image is with a semi transparent source overlay to give an idea of accuracy (the source photo isn't perfectly square on but it's close)... I have a lot of work to do, and so much source this time around The unit will be driveable from both ends (proper cabs, no shortcuts), I'll try and replicate as many features as possible and it'll even have a flushable toilet
Looking good. I’ve been trying out the JT 153 and the brakes aren’t that great at all. Presumably this is modelled on the prototype?
It's not impossible, but it's hard to see any engineering or operational reason for turning out 153s with weaker brakes than related designs.
The real Class 153 Brakes were the same as other 15x units - even used the same brake control gear. The units ran mixed so they had to be the same. Could it be the Model 153 is not the same as the Model 15x units

Fantastic stuff - why can't we have someone like you working on american GE / EMD stock instead of lo-fi DTM?
Only the tamper uses lens flares - the MPV doesn't and nothing else will moving forward... if done right, lights look better without them. All lights adhere to daylight/night illumination too (light beams are only cast when it's dark). Forgive my quietness of late, I've been stuck in at my new job (chief systems architect once again at a telecoms firm) as well as soldiering on with TSC projects - some you know about, and some you don't Also, I've been honing my build techniques with the help of some notable individuals... I'm very grateful for all of the time and advice given to date. If I could afford to, I'd devote all of my time to TSC, but as things stand the telecoms firm pays the bills and TSC doesn't. Perhaps that will change in time.
Also, this thread can now be closed, as it's no longer relevant. Waggonz have produced a model much nicer than my draft - here's hoping they give it a full feature set too.
I don't think they'd be interested mate, I'm just a random guy building things, they're both TS legends in their own rights. It'd be like David asking to team up with Goliath. It definitely hurts when you have to concede, but I wish them all the best with it - the TSC community will get a very nice 153 and everyone knows the level of quality they'll get. I'll be in the corner, beavering away all the same, covered in shade. Be nice to get a nod from some of the bigger guys, but up to yet that hasn't happened. Pleased to have brought a few things to the TSC scene, and all being well, I'll produce more. Disappointing when the ones that inspire you are the ones that crush you.
Thank you mate, really appreciate it. Still feeling a little crushed. The Waggonz/AP 87 released exactly the same time as the MPV and I got a lot of shade. To be fair, it wasn't the standard it is now, but I have worked to make it much better. When the tamper released, I got a lot of love and laughs in equal measure. I guess that's the nature of putting yourself out there. Figured a 153 would be a nice build and I'd be able to apply all I learned while building the MPV pack. Super crushed to see Waggonz have blown my meager efforts away with their gorgeous 153 model. Again, thank you, I know I have some ability, but I know when to step aside to let the bigger boys do their thing.
Don't feel too bad. There's is just way further along than yours, so they've clearly been working on it for some time without you knowing. It's not a reflection on yours, and given time, I'm sure yours would have been a perfectly fine model. I mean, your MPV is brilliant, so I see no reason why your 153 wouldn't have been. It's just really bad timing.
You've found a niche that not too many others focus on - track maintenance machinery. Keep to that and perfection it, I guarantee it'll be popular, at least among those who want to make scenarios as close to the real world as possible
Dunkrez. I just recently bought your tamper, mainly because I thought it would look good as AI. It’s a fantastic addition to my DLC, the animation is excellent and I‘ve been having a lot of fun driving it. I will certainly be adding your MPV next payday. As said above, you‘ve found a niche that you are very good at. I would certainly like to see more maintenance vehicles. Whatever you make next, I‘m looking forward to seeing it.
Thank you guys, I went to sleep last night with a renewed sense of enthusiasm - I'll certainly keep building and I have partnered up on a couple of projects to reduce project timelines considerably and bring you all even better things to play with. I'd like to revisit the original tamper eventually, but there are many things to do before then. Thank you torfmeister, pookey, USRailFan and Tigert1966 and a grateful shout out to everyone else that's given the things I build some love <3
Honestly reef, I'd love to, and I have a model that I've been playing with here and there, but knowing my luck someone else will be 3 years on with one and I'd be blown out of the water. I'm ballsy enough to build it, just would it be good enough? Is there someone else that's more established already on with one? Would Richard even want to work with me? I just don't know. I guess that's an inherent problem with an open small market shrouded in too much secrecy - hence why I've tried to buck that trend and be more open about projects. Not that it seemed to make a blind bit of difference, everyone developing knew what I was up to, yet I don't know what anyone else is up to (with a couple of exceptions, and thank you to them).
It all depends on the source material you can get hold of, I have absolutely no doubt in your modelling and uv mapping abilities and your attention to detail is bordering on obsessive compulsion, you've learnt a lot over these last couple of years and I'd say you can be on par with any other modeller out there. And as far as AP goes working with you? Show him a model that blows his socks off and he'll be all over it, and if not, well you have the skills now to complete the scripting and sounds too. I'm not trying to blow smoke up your arse as that's counter productive and just not my personality at all, I say things as I see them (and upset a lot of delicate flowers along the way) and I truly believe you could do the job, else I'd have said "ever thought of modelling for Minecraft instead?" At the end of the day you just need to believe that you can do it, that's all that matters here.
We have a 47 at Peak Rail stabled that I can access pretty much whenever. Thanks Reef, I know you well enough by now to know you don't mince words or hold back
Reef is one of few people on here that speak there mind and wont hold back on positives or negatives. We need more like him in the community. I echo the others your work is outstanding i will be buying your 153 irespective if it is released after the other one. You products i own show you have great attention to detail and i would not even think twice about parting with my cash your way in the future.
I can't see many people (DTG staff included) agreeing with that, I don't even know that I'd want more "Me's" here..
