this would be a lengthy route at 98 miles long and is a very scenic ride also could be coming soon as it is a diesel only route which skyhook are currently working on

    Rolling stock:
    the class 222
    the class 156

    potential dlc:
the class 180 depending on when it is set

    the stations would be:
    -Leicester
    -Loughborough
    -East Midlands Parkway
    -Long Eaton
    -Derby
    -Chesterfield
    -Beeston
    -Attenborough
    -Spondon
    -Peartree
    -Duffield
    -Belper
    -Ambergate
    -Dronfield
    -Sheffield

Could Also Include The Short Derwent Valley Line To Matlock Which Would Add:
    -Whatstandwell
    -Cromford
    -Matlock Bath
    -Matlock

hope you agree with my suggestion and look forward to seeing your comments.

Era? Assuming this is modern the 180 should be a base rolling stock- they still go on the mml intercity routes alongside the 222.

I feel this would be an even better route is set in the 70s or 80s as there would be very few layers or AI if done modern day compared to in the 70s or 80s where there would be so much layering potential utilising the existing BR blue rolling stock.

Bring it on and for Modern Day layers are RHTT GWE ECW and Southeast High-Speed London to Ashford Class 66. For a new freight locomotive why not add a Class 70

Have it set in 2018. That way, you have HSTs going up and down the Mainline as well as the meridians and sprinters. Oh! The 158 runs on this route, I believe.

I would have done the class 158 but newer routes only tend to come with 1 loco so we'll be lucky to get the 156 which I feel suits the area more than the 158s

The HST probably needs a rebuild since, the cab is a little different than the GWE one and it needs a new livery and different formations.

This would be a great route however aren't the class 222 meridians getting replaced by the 810s auroras (another Hitachi IET) so would it be difficult for dtg to include them on the route if these trains are going to come into service.

We'd also have Syston, Sileby and Barrow upon Soar between Leicester and Loughborough

Don’t forget the power station between Loughborough and Nottingham. That’s an iconic part of the Mainline as well as, the Brush factory and that leasing depot just outside Leicester station.

Yeah, it’s a shame that the meridians are getting the boot as, their my favourite train to ride in. They can get you from Leicester to Nottingham within 15-20 minutes at a top speed of 125mph on diesel power and the seats are comfy. The Hitachi 810s only have a top speed of 100mph on diesel power and the MML don’t mess about when it comes to speed.

Great suggestion. Do they still run HSTs on that line?

They have been retired between London and Sheffield but Cross Country still run several HST services a day between Derby and Sheffield.

They don't any more however I think matt#4801 made a suggestion of this route with the hst or we suggested it as dlc though I don't remember which.

The route I suggested was south Devon mainline with the Exmouth and Paignton branches. I included the HST in the suggestion however the engines would be wrong for this one. For this route you would ideally want a VP185 engine, though if set late enough with the ex LNER stock you could get away with MTUs.
