For the longest time, I assumed Settle to Carlise to be an LNWR route in pre-grouping days. Discovering, via (link) Rail Map online - UK & IE Railways (link), that no, Midland Railway operated there, had me scratching my head. Extremely few Midland steam locos are available for TSC. Unless I'm forgetting something, the only two in my possession the DT Midland Spinner, which I'm not keen on, and the freeware DT Midland Misfits Johnson 4-4-4T which, as the name implies, provides a number of Midland liveries along with a bevy of others. Alas, several Midland liveries suffer from the loco's A/D regulator glitch. The F4 regulator-slider works but, though I am an F4 driver, I rely on A and D for regulator control. All of which serves as intro for a batch of captures from the beginning of a Carlise to Settle passenger QD, featuring a 4-4-4T in Midland Gray (which doesn't suffer the glitch), pulling Midland coaches.

This 4-4-4T is a fictitious loco, based on a completed design that was never implemented:

Speaking of hard-to-find pre-grouping locos, I've yet to find a single North British Railway representative. (Both West Highland routes were NBR back in the day.) CW has a few on its massive planned-release list, but I suspect only a small portion of that list will see the light of day, what with Kris saying he will likely move on to something else come 2025.

Moved on to the next 158 livery. Very pleased with how it looks pretty much anywhere.
Sort of wondering how old this pack actually is. Its manual says 2009, and it doesn't have Settle as a destination option, nor anything further.

I have been using lots of Armstrong Powerhouse DLC lately because I bought some of their DLC during their recent sale and it's been lots of fun driving the scenarios provided in those DLC. I also recently got their Signal Enhancement pack which may not sound like much but it definitely makes the experience of driving a train better for me as I've been admiring how good the signals look as well as some of the cool new features. I also had to play this scenario with the lowest settings as directed by Armstrong Powerhouse because of how much trains there are moving around in the scenario. Unfortunately just as I was about to reach Colchester, my game crashed and when I reloaded my save for the scenario I got an error message saying an AI Train had crashed meaning unfortunately the train never reached Colchester Town at the end of it's journey.

Fun thing about the FML that I have no idea what it means there in German however I'm very much aware about it in English.

Captures from a Standard Scenario "Partial Drop", a stopping service on GAD's West of England Mainline. The train is pulled by an SSS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T "Prairie" steam locomotive, in weathered BR black. This loco was rightly panned on initial release for its many visual failings. It eventually received a major makeover. I bought it on sale post-makeover.

Axminster station: the run begins. The scenario is offered in two flavors; VulcanProductions 2MT and non-VP 2MT. I chose VP. I should mention that the scenario pre-selects what I assume is the correct disk-code for the run:
SSS provides the 2MT with not one but two custom cab lean-outs on the driver's side. Likely the fireman's side too, I didn't check that. With the closer of the two cameras, we partially look through a windscreen (which can be moved out of the way). The further camera avoids that, but we risk hitting our heads on trackside objects. I like the concept, feeling it adds a bit of immersion/roleplay. All lean-out views shown here are from the further-away camera:
I like the slight mist/haze most noticeable at distance in the image above. I assume it's a feature of the scenario:
I intended this to be a four-image post, the below capture being its final image:
But, I find this view of an oncoming passenger train emerging from a road-overpass portal too good to resist, despite it making the set rather lean-out predominant. (I've nothing whatsoever against lean-outs, but prefer to include them sparingly.)
Soon after grabbing the above image, I noticed that the loco was steadily consuming water at an alarming rate. I must have pressed a wrong key at some point. (The 2MT requires user manipulation of the small/brake ejector, set to "P" rather than "J", which CW uses on its locos that require brake ejector manipulation.) As I began fiddling with other water-related controls it dawned on me that, as early in the drive as it was, I might not have enough water left to complete the run. That being the case, I ended the scenario, vowing to try again another day.

Quite a coincidence, my most recent image set, published almost immediately after yours, and like yours intended as part of a multi-post series, ended up being all that remains of the run, which ended prematurely. In my case it was user-error rather than an A.I. SNAFU.

I think they are fine. I personally like the driver's eye perspective a lot. It is the driver's experience anyway.
There is something soothing to watch the scenery roll by while driving a car, truck, train. Or just hiking. Active traveling.
I like the railfan perspective as well, mostly for composition purposes. For documentation, I can just download actual photos.

A Class 158 has had a last minute failure, so Northern Class 142 '142048' is formed as the leading car of an evening passenger train that will begin a journey to Leeds from Carlisle, however in these screenshots we will only be going as far as Settle. The run started out with a few trains passing through Carlisle Station with a good amount of natural light still shining down. But soon it became a very dark and lonely run to Settle. It got so dark on my run that I could not see in front of the train and I saw only 2 trains (excluding at Carlisle) on the entire 1 hour and 40 minute journey to Settle! I am not complaining though, there is something very relaxing and calming about doing a night time journey.

Man, everyone seems to be upping their game lately, screenshot-wise. Lots of great captures from all. As for myself, here is the fifth set of captures documenting a 70-mile stopping passenger service QD, from London Liverpool Street Station to Ipswich, on GEML London Ipswich DTG route. The train consists of a CW GER T26 2-4-0 tendered steam loco, seen in GER Wartime Gray, pulling five GER carriages.

    Goodmayes Station:

    Chadwell Heath:

    The set's one non-station capture:
As is too often the case, I forgot to record this station's name:
We're still fairly early in the run, traveling a predominantly urban landscape, with frequent stops. I've not yet been able to raise boiler pressure to its optimal level. This will change once we enter a less-developed countryside with more distance between stations.

Amtrak EMD F59PHI '453' has just departed from Irvine with it's train bound for San Diego. In this part of the screenshots the train will be going as far as Oceanside with 1 stop in between Irvine and Oceanside at San Juan Capistrano. The run began with the sun starting to set and as the train approached Oceanside the sun had gone down.

Glancing through my vast horde of TSC captures, I noticed a number from a mid-Jan 2023 stopping passenger service QD on Chatham Main & Medway Valley Lines DTG route. A brief look-see at a relatively recent acquisition, as I recall. Most images didn't pass muster. A few were deemed acceptable for public display. They appear below.

The train is fronted by a CW SECR Class C, sporting a spiffy-looking British Locomotive Studios' blue reskin:

Happy to see so many awesome screenshots over the last week! It's wonderful to have several contributors back at it, too.
I agree with the remark that the quality has been there, I like that we are inspiring ourselves to get better at it.

My next selection, delayed as usual as of late. Driven the Class 158 at speed, enjoyed, including a hiccup.

Amtrak EMD F59PHI '453' continues its journey from Los Angeles to San Diego. In these screenshots, the train starts from Oceanside where the train previously stopped to pick up passengers. However, unexpectedly a Coaster train had broken down and this required Amtrak EMD F59PHI '453' to replace the Coaster train by stopping at all stations in between Oceanside and Old Town. By the time the train reached San Diego, it had become night.

Treated myself in the Festival of Rail Sale to this Skyhook Games OBB 1044 and must admit I am pleasantly impressed.
At a sale price of UK £5.49 it really is a lovely unit to drive and came with two liveries and a set of Hbbills wagons + scenarios.
    I do love a bargain :D

Also nabbed this extra reskin from the Marketplace for a mere £1.49

LMS Coronation Class '6229' 'Duchess of Hamilton' leads an 11 coach long rail tour passenger train from Appleby to Settle on a glorious Spring day. The train had to battle with steep grades up hill and down hill but managed to complete the journey to Settle, however the train was a few minutes late at most stops due to speeds dropping on the steep up hill grades to around 40 miles per hour with the speed limit being 60 miles per hour.

Sixth set of captures documenting a 70-mile stopping passenger service QD, from London Liverpool Street Station to Ipswich, on GEML London Ipswich DTG route. The train consists of a CW GER T26 2-4-0 tendered steam loco, seen in GER Wartime Gray, pulling five GER carriages.

British Railways Fowler Dock Tank '47169' is hard at work shunting and collecting wagons at Newham Docks as well as collecting some more wagons at the nearby Gas Works in preparation for a difficult journey from Newham Docks to Perranwell in the late afternoon. It was a hard and difficult journey going up the steep hills from the docks to Perranwell, usually maintaining a steady 20 miles per hour going uphill. But luckily not too far away from Perrannwell, it was time for the downhill section of the journey where the train got up to a speedy 40 miles per hour. Once at Perranwell, the train shunted the freight wagons into the sidings and afterwards had a nice rest at the station.

I picked up this wonderful loco as well as some others of similar type during the Festival of Rail sale. I am a big fan of little tank engines and I am very satisfied with this loco! And let's hope I set the correct headlight code, I think I did according to the manual but I don't know much about steam engines.

It's an early Sunday morning in 2014 and Network Rail is finishing up an overnight possession on the East Coast Main Line for carrying out maintenance on the line. GB Railfreight Class 66 '66743' is tasked with leading service 6T80 05:45 Huntingdon - Whitemoor Yard which will bring ballast wagons to Welwyn Garden City Yard and shunt around to the other end of the wagons to bring them to where maintenance is being carried out. In this part, the train will be going as far as Welwyn Garden City.
As I was driving to Welwyn Garden City, about halfway through the run I was actually going faster than my permitted speed stated in the tasklist briefing. I was usually going the speed limit (75 mph) but the tasklist briefing told me to go 60mph. Luckily I realised soon enough so I could slow my speed for a more realistic scenario. This made me about 10 minutes early to Welwyn Garden City and it gave me a wake up call to always check the tasklist briefing first!

Must bow to the build quality of British railroad equipment.
Despite all that happened, not a dent. Fixing a few wheels and couples, looks like ready to keep on going!

So that's why I had so much shaking and other troubles during my run with the Class 158!
Thanks for fixing up the line in due time for my joyride. :)

Thought I'd show off something I'm working on:
A busy scene at Penzance as 3A82 has just arrived in Platform 3 whilst 08310 sits in Platform 4 waiting to shunt the 'Night Rviera' stock into Long Rock sidings. Meanwhile 2U16 awaits the road to depart on time at 08:52
    1 (25).jpg
Meanwhile the Belmond Pullman (out of shot), awaits its expected departure of 09:02 from Slopers Siding into Penzance Platform 1 whilst a Network Rail test train sits in the seaside siding awaiting Platform 4 to become free for a shunt move as 08310 hauls the 'Night Riviera' stock into Long Rock sidings
    1 (29).jpg
The Belmond Pullman sits in Penzance Platform 1 embarking its passengers for the day on the 'Belmond Riviera' as 1A82 awaits its booked departure time from Platform 3 of 09:12. The Belmond will leave some 13 minutes later at 09:25
    1 (34).jpg
Almost an hour later, the 'Belmond Riviera' sits in Platform 3 at Truro with the 67 on the level crossing next to the signal box to allow all of its very exquisite coaches to be platformed. The fog settled in shortly before Redruth and wont lift until after Liskeard.
    1 (44).jpg
Finally departing Cornwall and heading into Devon, the Belmond Riviera' tackles the iconic Royal Albert Bridge spanning the river Tamar from Saltash to just outside St Budeaux. 1 (49).jpg
