Trainsim_Martin mentioned the possibility of doing away with the themes for the weekly screenshot competition. I have really enjoyed participating in those so I figured I'd table the discussion among other enthusiasts. Having a theme does force us to look at a certain element of the sim and recreate it in extraordinary fashion. It provides a single point of reference for voting. ie: Did they capture the theme in a creative fashion? The scope through which an enthusiast looks at a specific theme is narrower, providing less of an advantage to those who have newer DLCs. It forces people in all DLC titles to look at something in a way that few have ever looked at it before and preserves appreciation for early titles. When we remove the theme I think the criteria for judging changes in a manner that may put people who don't have some of the new DLC at a disadvantage. Newer DLCs have a much broader graphical appeal and fewer limitations- this is my opinion only. So here is a simple poll I'm hoping will capture the perspective of the community in short, while I'd certainly like to see other people's perspectives in the thread.
Past Themes- roughly in order. Exhaust Fumes Passenger Services Freight Bridge Water Sunshine USA UK Germany Industry Rural Station No Trains Mountains / Hills Interiors Busy Rail Traffic Nature Dawn Wonderful Waters Green Signals Autumn / Fall New York Whatever we wanted Winter What themes would you like to see?

No contest for a couple weeks- now would be a great time to flesh out a bank of possible themes... fire away!
Hi there! Nice idea, so here are my thoughts: -Video, not screenshot -Edited, not like in game -TSW Advertisement -High Speed -Wind -Train interior -Tunnels -Night -Skylight -Stars -Signals (not only clear) -Stuck at danger -Safety -Track infrastructure -Level crossings -Stations -Historic -Modern -Hot summer -Reflections -Slippery Tracks -Powerful trains -Reversing -Loose consists -Long trains -Short trains Yeah my ideas run out... Though this all would be very nice! I'd really like to be able to submit the short clips I have of TSW sometime if we do an actual video competition and not only a screenshot competition. Cheers, Prof
Now THAT'S What I'm talking about- thank you! Great list and certainly got further than I did. And tell me about your videos- do you do full productions to music with some mild video editing with a theme in mind or do you just do gameplay capture? I mean both are great- just curious about what you're thinking of in terms of an equivalent video theme. Maybe a maximum 1 minute long clip? 2 minutes? What do you figure?
