Speculation: Announcements In Festival Of Rail?

So what do we think will be announced on Sunday in the 8pm UTC stream?

I'm guessing they'll detail the WCL steam expansion, and maybe give more details on Acela and Niddetalbahn.

 

You're also missing the us route. Might see some blurry teasers or something

 

At least some more info on the Boston Enhancements and the Acela DLC, possibly a preview of the new US route or the US Enhancement pack as well.

Class 700 DLC would be a day one purchase for just about everyone who has London commuter.

 

They will announce a bugfix release: no new content for a month, just a whole lot of bugs fixed.

You can tell I've been at the bottle, can't you?

 

I imagine that the DTG Elves are busy running and re-running all of their checks to make sure that all of the bugs are in place, and fully operational.
Hmm I wonder if they will put moths in, to let us know that the route has bugs?

Just watched the British Ace doing a HST run on the E&G. The difference it makes to the overall look of the route is much better. It's making think about buying it just to run the HST on it.

I saw his vid too. Makes it a worlds difference when you can actually see the route out a big window which is a shame for the 385. I love being able to see Murrayfield stadium as I pass by it at a fast speed.

 

German route might be Duisburg-Oberhausen Utrecht if DTG does have knowledge of ETCS & Dutch ATB systems. Otherwise, Frankfurt am Main Bad Vilbel Stockheim Niddertalbahn with S6 Friedrichsdorf DB BR420 Orange and Cream Deutsche Bundesbahn Paint 110.3

 

Personally, I’m really hoping for the long rumoured “All Of The Railways That Have Ever Existed” expansion, in which they add every route that has ever existed on Earth past and present, to be announced.

 

It's a nice route, and the castle at night with the lighting looks great. It just needed a week or two more to fine-tune to fix the obvious bugs.

And, like most routes it looks too clean. They really need to put dirt layers on assets and if possible a on/off toggle for it.

Disintegration7 You can set your watch by this, it’s gone on for years and it’s a bit tedious. It’s like some kind of Stockholm Syndrome.

No matter how much of a mess the previous release is, and it’s all too regularly a big one, within a week people start with the speculation and excitement for the next opportunity to be fleeced as if nothing ever happened. My pointing that out is not the odd thing here.

ps - I’m not dismissing what you’re saying, but I don’t see why I should move on. I’ve spent many hundreds of pounds on this game because I believed what we were told/sold by DTG’s hype machine. I want these products that I’ve paid a lot of money for to work as we were led to expect they should.

Watching that video and the way he reacts to the product is largely how I feel almost every time I play any DTG content.

+ with all the locomotives, carriages, wagons & MOW Equipment in all the liveries, variations & individual nameplates that ever existed.
And it should be a free expansion, obviously XD.

That would be incredibly lazy of DTG (very typical). They only bother doing past and present routes but not future ones? Half-baked as usual; I would expect nothing less from DoveFAIL. They really are incapable of doing even the smallest amount of things correctly. Absolutely unplayable.

I'd love it to be a new 700 to add to LC. Just got to hope that it's not a old version imported in if it is?
Also what's with the constant use of non working monitors in cabs? They really spoil the feel. Even if they just use them to display the route map of the route you are on. Then if you click on a button on the monitor it opens up the full screen route map like when you press 9 (on PC)
The route map on the blank monitor might not be prototypical, but at least it will give it a purpose instead of just a black void!

 

In the meantime some good discounts on TSW and TSC items, quite unexpected as I had resigned myself to waiting for Easter.

Might give Harlem another try as it's only £12.49.

I'm assuming this is a DTG only promotion as I don't see N3V Trainz 2020 reduced from its extortionate £54.99, or Zusi 3.

DTG's Festival of Rail is an annual event usually held around a month after the winter holidays (though it's about a week or two later this year). This sale tends to have some of the best deals of the year, perhaps second to the summer sale.

I think it's interesting to note what is not on sale.
Older routes like Oakville, LIRR, BML, BPE.
Whereas some fairly recent routes, like BCC are substantially discounted.
What would you glean from those anomalies?

I'm thinking that maybe " one train " routes are perhaps less popular?

 

I would say there's no discernible reason for why the items that which are not on sale are not on sale. None of the Rush Hour routes are on sale, which is definitely odd. But beyond that, why is HRR on sale but not RRO? There's not really a pattern which makes me wonder if this is unintentional.

i don’t know why they can’t do this, they’ve done it for the bakerloo platform monitors. they should also do it for the platform monitors on other routes too, would add more immersion

It certainly would. How it stands with blank monitors in cabs, It makes it feel like the loco isn't complete, and they just stopped work on it. Having a blank monitor and even two in some cases really distract you from the quality feel of the overall operation of the unit.
DTG opted for modern units that have monitors, So why not use them? To me, this defeats the object and reasoning of having the modern units in the game?
DTG: "I know we shall Introduce more modern loco's but we won't use the electronic gizmo's, Let's give our customers blank useless monitors?"
"Wow! What a great idea that is? It will certainly improve the realism and playability for them!"
"Ok! That's that decided"
