At first glance I know it may seem a little awkward on why I said for all tsw games but my suggestion is that all DLC that are created are compatible with whatever version of tsw you own, I own TSW 2020 and since it's basically the same game I don't want to keep getting the same game, that's why I suggest you make all DLC made to be compatible for all versions of tsw so we don't have to buy a new tsw every time it comes out. I'll pay for DLC if that becomes an option, I know there will be disagreements and some cons to that but I think that's still a good thing to implement and consider of adding.

The dlc are compatible across each title. Tsw2020 content was compatible for tsw2 which was compatible to tsw3. The port was free. You still have to pay for the bundle and the routes. Those take a lot of development hours so we have to pay for them since stuff isn't free and they need their wages to live

Now, in terms of making everything compatible across future tswx, it's most likely going to get more difficult cuz it's more content that needs to be recooked, meaning it would be a massive amount of work. There's over 60 pieces of dlc now and only going to get larger and larger. Possibly hundreds. Lots of work to recook everything to make it compatible. Eventually, dtg will have to either start fresh from square one or just stick to one version of tsw and just do a yearly bundle and yearly free update so they don't have to port anything over.

Tbf the only decent us route your missing out on is probably something like Cajon (chicken) pass or Boston to some extent. The rest of the good ones are In tsw haha. Jokes aside I'm British so don't know much bout the usa.

The later games have new tech in them and therefore routes made for them can’t be released for the older versions. If you want any new content now you need to buy TSW3. There are starter packs with one route that are more or less the same price as that one route on its own.
