People were saying the horn could be better. We only heard the initial traction motor sounds so don't know what the whole thing sounds like
Probably, as it was already modelled in the TSW2020 NEC and LIRR. And it is right besides NY Penn. And again, really crossing fingers for a LIRR layer to spice up the AI traffic around NY Penn.
so far, we don't know but I would assume it would come to the route since it's very close to nyp and it's where the trains are stored, so it is kinda a must have for gameplay reasons
What is Sunnyside Yard? As one of the busiest passenger rail facilities in North America, the Yard is a critical piece of national rail infrastructure. A deck over Sunnyside Yard must support the city above, while seamlessly integrating with the daily rail operations below. Around 780 trains run through the Yard each day via Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor and LIRR’s Main Line, with more to come once MTA’s East Side Access and Penn Access projects are completed. Harold Interlocking, the United States' busiest rail junction, is part of the yard. The shared tracks of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Main Line and Amtrak's Northeast Corridor pass along the southern edge of the yard. Northeast of the yard a balloon track (or reverse loop) is used for "U-turning" Amtrak and NJ Transit trains which terminate at Penn Station. Leading eastward near the south side of the yard, this balloon track switches off and turns left under the LIRR/Amtrak tracks, turns left once again, and merges with the Sunnyside yard track to turn the train west toward Penn Station.
If done correctly penn station could look and feel similar to London victoria station. That’s if the use the LIRR as AI at Penn and if they include all NJT services out of Penn just using the Multilevel cab car and ALP-46 . Similar when they use the 377 to substitute for the 455’s
I thought I recognised the yard name from one of the current routes available. I think this route is turning out to be quite the interesting one, plus Acela layers onto it. I’ll be keeping an eye on it and see how it progresses.
the last one was my suggestion and when I was at New Brunswick, NJ railway station on August 20th 2021 there was a 15:25 express to NYC Train 3954. That one is express from New Brunswick to EWR then local from there to NYC. This can merge with LIRR assuming the common origin point was NY Penn station
Excited for the arrival of Acela and NEC: Trenton to New York! US passenger rail is what I am most interested in when it comes to TSW and Amtrak is one of my faves. I've ridden down that stretch of the NEC multiple times, so there is a lot of nostalgia for me. I've never been on an Acela, but at least I can simulate the experience with this game. I've ridden NJT rail a couple times, one of those times being the Northeast Corridor route from Secaucus to NYP, so seeing NJT brings back some nice memories too. In other words, this is right up my alley!
wouldnt say 24 hours a day. Living in NYC, thats not 24/7. On the NEC, theres a train NY bound just after 1 am connecting with an arriving SEPTA (last for the night) then you dont see a train for about 2 and a half hours only overnight weekdays. That 3:47am doesnt run weekends. Other that that, most last trains are around 1am ish. Coming home from Wrestlemania 35 had last trains waiting almost an hour at Secaucus cause of an incident at the stadium station and NJT held all connecting trains since they were all last trains. LIRR is 24/7 PATH is 24/7
They are probably going to have several bundles with the new US content like they mentioned. Acela and NEC trenton, US expansion pack. Another one might be Acela and NEC trenton, US expansion pack, and Boston Sprinter. The last one would be just the Acela and NEC trenton. We should here something soon since we only have 3 weeks remaining and 3 DLC coming out in February
I’d love a NEC bundle > Boston/Trenton/Acela. I already own Boston on PS5 but I’ve been moving my playing over to XSX so I’d buy it again if bundled.
I can't wait wait for the article to see the layers , services, any other branches, freight wagons and stuff which most likely be static, LIRR AI at Penn, yards. Can't wait
Any chance the Acela and NEC launch same-day? Assuming no releases this week, that leaves the 16th and the 23rd in February, but is the UP pack a Feb release too? If so, something would have to double-up, right?
In my dream world, they'll include Oak Point Yard and the CSX services from NEC:NY. I always enjoyed driving them and watching the Amtrak services pass by on the NEC, and now there'll be even more traffic.
I'm hoping for all. Wondering if the freight might be difficult for serivrs since they don't have the signalling for the route. They could do static around the route
One thing we are probably not going to see, the SEPTA trains into and out of Trenton Transit Center. Another license they don't have. Also would like to see the NJT trains that come out of Hoboken as AIs. The ones headed north and into NT stop at Secaucus and the ones headed to Broad Street Neward pass under the NEC just west of the stop.
The only reason I can see for not including Sunnyside Yard is that they would need to update the LIRR version with the changes made in the past few years for East Side Access.
DTG JD Can you please confirm if Joethefish is working the time table for the NEC- Trenton . Sorry to tag you guys but we are really excited for this route
Yeah with, it could only be that part that doesn't actually interact with the main Amtrak lines. Was that part completely unsignalled in NEC:NY? I don't remember it's been so long since i've played
If the super-duper-awesome-special bundle includes BPE, I will have to go with the super-duper-awesome-not-quite-so--special bundle which doesn't, since I already have the route. It all depends on the pricing structure.
If they sell the 3 in a bundle as a collection on Steam, then it should give you the "Complete my collection" option that will give you the new NEC and the Acela for a discounted price.
I can't decide whether I should buy TSW 3 now or if I should wait and see if there will be a bundle that will include the base game plus the new NEC route and Acela?
Unfortunately, all those TSW2 hold-outs who resisted buying TSW3 for perfectly good reasons, now have the dilemma of having to purchase it if they want any of the new content. It was a decision that was always coming.
Very excited about the NEC! I pass Secaucus Junction almost every day to get to work, and as others have said this line is very busy. This morning as I passed around 8 am I saw a triple meet of two NJTs and an Acela stuck in traffic on the line. It's also not uncommon to see trains inching not far behind each other in the same block if there's enough traffic. I'm interested to see how DTG handles the AI traffic and hope they don't skimp out on busy rush hour times!
I agree. Wait and see what the various bundles actually look like. One of them will almost certainly include the base TSW3 game.
Totally agree- the AI traffic will be crucial. They've shown they know how to do it with London, Dresden, and Bremen- this is one of the busiest sections of passenger rail in the US- it absolutely has to feel that way.
If Joethefish does the time table like he did london commuter, bakerloo, Harlem line,SEHS, then i have no doubt it will be a busy one. I'm crossing my fingers. If all services from the branches are included out of Penn station we should be looking around 500+. This is similar to what was done with the london commuter. the Morris and Essex line could go to either Secaucus junction or if they include Newark Broad street which I think is a must for added services we can have 23 minute services from Penn New Jersey Transit potential services. These are all one way. 38 north jersey coast 3-bay head-26 long branch -9 south amboy 55- Morris Essex lines from Newark Broad street 21-Montclair-From Newark Broad street 8-ratitan- from Newark Penn 96-NEC 47trenton-14 jersey avenue-1 Princeton 1 New Brunswick 27 Rahway 37- Amtrak -15 northeast regional -11 Acela-11 keystone Total 255 x2=510 playable services
I'm not all that familiar with NJT but I do have memories of visiting my grandmother as a kid, and hearing the multitude of NJT train horn throughout the day and night as she lived close to one of their lines. From the comments above, there looks to be a good diversity of services with this route so it definitely has my attention. I am hoping Penn Station is utilized better and isn't so dark and dismal. As a side note, I really wish they'd get the lighting fixed. The screenshots/videos they showed still show in game assets overexposed and too bright and it just doesn't look right. Though, provided the initial reviews seem positive I'll likely be adding this to my collection.
It would be awesome is the NEC Trenton-NYP DLC comes out next week right before President's Day weekend! An extra day to enjoy TSW. Also hopefully the Memory manager comes out for PS5 before so I can actually play all the content I have purchased.
