I hope Skyhook do their new route justice. I haven’t bought anything of theirs yet based on negative reviews and obvious mistakes.

Very excited for Acela, the improved Boston Sprinter and the new section of the NEC.

youre not looking at the right places. Coming in from jersey passes under LIRR's west side yard. if youre on an NJT or Amtrak arriving from jersey, if you look left you can see LIRR trains to and from the yard and even layed up on some layup tracks accessible from tracl 18-ish to 21. they tend to also share tracks 13-16. There are NO Metro North trains there. I dont know what youre seeing there. the closest is the Empire and Maple Leaf services using dual modes just like MN but in Amtrak livery. In-game, youll suppose to see more LIRR trains when accessing Sunnyside yard

    My thoughts:

    Amtrak's Acela
Northeast Corridor: New York-Trenton (with gameplay - see video)

NEC looks promising, and it's good to see another route for the Acela. I'm more excited for the route than the Acela, but I will probably wait for some time before getting these two. But I'm looking forward to the NJT stock, even if I would rather see the Morrison or Long Beach routes.

Union Pacific Heritage Livery and Gameplay Bundle (with gameplay - see video)

This looks interesting for the freight fans, I don't have anything else to say since I don't own the route.

Niddertalbahn: Bad Vilbel - Stockheim, developed by TSG (with gameplay - see video)

From the preview, it looked like it was still some time off, with areas that were looking very much WIP. But I'm very much looking for the slower pace of the rural diesel route. The DMU looks stellar.

    Linke Rheinstrecke: Mainz-Koblenz (with screenshots)

Easily the star of the show for me, beautiful route along the Rhine river and I was very surprised by the historic setting. BR110 and n-Wagen are fun to drive and the 103 is an iconic loco of the DB. Unless something goes VERY wrong, this will be a day-one purchase for me. Quite long route as well, with its 90-odd kilometers.

Midland Main Line: Leicester - Derby and Nottingham, developed by Skyhook Games (with tease)
Peak Forest: Ambergate – Chinley and Buxton (with screenshots)

I don't know either of these routes, but the Peak Forest looks hilly, so a proper challenge with steam locos.

This is a cabride from London to Nottingham in a HST recorded shortly before they were withdrawn. It's a former LNER set so MTU not VP185. However skip to 1Hour 6 minutes for the journey from Leicester to Nottingham to get an idea of what to expect.

Is Link Rheinstrecke the line nearest the camera in this livestream?

I don't consider UP Heritage Collection a sufficient orientation for US freight subject, its just tiny accent in my view (unless there is more of content to come with it). Give us something like new timetable UP for CJP or new trains for any of routes, implement DPU from CJP or braking from SMH to other routes... Do something considerable.

It does have 6 scenarios for it. Personally the US freight scene isn't my thing but I hope it's well received by those who play it.

To be honest, all of these DLC seem to be of a pretty high quality.
It’s nice to get a good selection of locomotives and rolling stock with a route again.

I look forward to seeing streams and reviews. I feel it’s going to be quite hard choosing just one or two to purchase.

If you are interested in the US stuff for February there is a Supa dupa pack apparently coming for one price. No details as of yet but in due course.

I think the route enhancements for SMH are nice, it’s a flat scenery so the new skies will really elevate the route.

Not sure I’ll be buying the livery pack though, however depending on the bundle cost I may go for it that way, since the NJT & Acela will be my thing.

We have seen some amazing stuff that will be coming in the next months!

Really happy with to see some more USA stuff, and its some good stuf too!

Finally a new operater in TSW -> EMT!
A new steam route coming with a new one too, the route itself looked amazing roo!

Niddertalbahn scenery was amazing, you see that TSG put lot of work and love into it and I hope we see more stuff from the route & in general from them soon!
Mainz-Koblenz, an 103 TEE! We had a lack of older German routes, finally we're getting some now! First time to see a TEE too in the game, also the mint grun livery is amazing to see on the stock & orient rot!

In general I was very pleased with what they've showed off, looking forward to all of it, well done! :D

They are probably going to have several bundles with the new US content like they mentioned. Acela and NEC trenton, US expansion pack.
Another one might be Acela and NEC trenton, US expansion pack, and Boston Sprinter. The last one would be just the Acela and NEC trenton.
We should here something soon since we only have 3 weeks remaining and 3 DLC coming out in February

I believe it's called the 'Super-Duper-Awesome Special Bundle'*

*and that's how I was thrown off the 'naming Add-ons' committee.

Absolutely. I’m really looking forward to all the free improvements being made to Boston Sprinter together with the Acela DLC, and the new route looks amazing as well, so I would genuinely consider purchasing an Acela + New York-Trenton bundle if the price is right. The Acela looks like a really detailed train, and the new route includes a lot of new (and returning) content plus the Acela layer.

I’m looking forward to a lot of these routes, especially the 2 German ones.

However I do worry because we still don’t seem to be making huge advances. Each of the routes are the typical 40 mile, hour at most journey time that we have come to expect. And there is reused trains on almost all of them (which is obviously being done to save on money and time) which is disappointing because I know there is big potential for this game.

The Acela is going to be very good for the American passenger fans (interested to see the price), they have definitely been left in the dirt the last few years. I’m not very impressed by the livery pack because it just seems a bit lacklustre to warrant paying for it, but it seems to have been received well so what do I know.

I’m 50/50 on the British steam route, whilst it’s nice to see more steam I think it could have been something German/American to cater for more markets but I suppose it’s still progress. The route itself is beautiful and I think TSW will do it justice fairly well.

As for the Midland Mainline, it’s really nice to see a VP185 HST and 158 (please don’t butcher the sounds) and I think it will go down well, but I do worry about it’s replay-ability. It’s yet again a short route that I fear will get very repetitive like a lot of other routes in TSW. Maybe I’m just pessimistic.

Overall, it’s looking like a decent year ahead so far. Hopefully we won’t be slammed with TSW4 in August.

This is great news for US railfans. I will definitely pop for the super- bundle, to save a little money on all 3 dlc's.

Looking at my Steam wallet, now. I wonder if financing will be available. ;)

I think the new US content is looking pretty stellar (barring the livery pack for SMH, same reasons you said), the new signalling upgrades & NJT are worth that £5 upcharge for me. Should be a fairly busy route with the rolling stock coming on that route.

MML, again with the new ToC, new HST variant & 158, this will be worth the cost for me, it’s a shame about where the route ends, but I think the section we have still delivers that rather specific Northen/Midland vibe, if that’s the sort of content you like then there’s no reason that this will be a bad route, unless Skyhook muck it up.

German routes are looking good too, the TSG route looks different from all the other DE stuff, and Koblenz with the 103 is a good pick, quite different to everything else again.

If we only gauge how good a route will be based on length, it’ll always be disappointing, what matters is the experience, and overall, the majority of what’s been shown yesterday really hits the mark.

This is going to be a great month, considering I do quite enjoy some American content. That Union Pacific pack, while nothing crazy, seems like a very nice thing to have. Felt odd having a UP SD70ACe with none of the heritage schemes! My personal favorite is UP 1995, the Chicago & North Western scheme.

The Amtrak Acela seems like a must-have, because it’s freaking awesome. Should be enjoyable to to at such high speeds while heading to Boston. Hopefully the Acela gets bundled with NY-Trenton, so that I can actually afford to get that route. Would greatly benefit the Acela as it runs more services compared to Boston, and I really like the NJ Transit stuff.

    Yes! I’m excited! And hopeful!

Just to clarify, there will be a passenger bundle (Trenton, Boston, Acela), a freight bundle (UP Heritage, Cajon, Sherman Hill), and 'all bells and whistles' bundle, which also provides all the bits listed in the two bundles I just mentioned (sadly we're not going with 'super-duper-awesome-special bundle').

All the new content will be available as individual Add-ons, too.

Personally I already consider the pack better than the ATSF F7 for Cajon, at least this one fits the era for the route it's for. As long as it isn't terribly expensive, I don't think I will be received too bad.

Only disappointment is that it seems like the pack was hyped up to be a Diesel Legends style pack, instead of a livery pack, which is why it seems like a waste of time.

Let's say if Dtg made this pack with the Heritage Units, a UP ES44, and added them to the timetable for Cajon Pass, it probably wouldn't be seen as negative as it does now.

Something else I didn't mention in my previous post, plus a thought on the bundles. I am interested in both acela, and the new trenton route. But it looks like i'll have to buy both individually, instead of being able to save money, given i already own boston sprinter.

Given someone said Sunnyside yard, and morrisville yard are strongly going to be in the route, I really hope DTG doesn't make the same mistake they did with the TSC version of this route. Specifically, in Sunnyside yard. You are able to enter one end of the yard via a loop, and exit the other end without using the loop. When the TSC version was released all those years ago, it seemed like the developers forgot that, and made scenarios where trains would be exiting sunnyside yard the wrong way. I really hope they don't repeat that mistake. It would break some immersion for me if that happens. It's nitpicky, but it's how the normal operations in that yard go, especially during rush hour, when you need to get trains back to NYP quickly. It would take too long to use the loop again.

Still excited for this route, and the acela. I can't wait for it, and with any luck, I won't be missing any rolling stock so I'll have all the layers for the route on release.

At least in terms of trains coming with the routes, it's more than 1 like for bcc and rivets recent scottish route meaning you'll get better value for money and more traffic on the line

Did anyone else think that TSG’s route looked more like TSC than TSW in the preview Clip? It all looked a bit simplistic and flat to me. Maybe it’s from before all the fancy stuff is added but it looked a bit odd.

After I heard about the trams from someone mentioning it on the forum during the festival of leaks I watched a bit of gameplay on Youtube. It’s certainly something I’m interested in but it’s going to have to compete with TSW DLC because I do generally buy all of that and even in sales it’s getting expensive, and with new third parties on board, the amount of DLC is going to get bigger each year. I may not have enough dosh for any trams.

DTG JD So what about those who have the Boston to Providence Route already, is there a pack just for the Trenton, and Acela? Cause most people here have the Boston to Providence :( Also is there any special for those who preorder it, such as early access, or a discount?

I don't think any of the recent releases have come with a pre-order discount, so can't see that changing sadly. For the "second string" routes i.e. for me the East Midlands and the Trenton - NYC thing that might be an incentive to upgrade my purchase plans to day 1 (or rather Day -1!).

The Peak Forest route looks very intriguing, I didn't expect to get another UK route announcement from DTG so soon, especially a historical route! It will also nice to be able to explore somewhere completely unfamiliar to me (not a route previously featured on TSC).

It's still heavy work in progress. The internal sounds are still being adjusted. Tsg doesn't have actual audio recordings but he said he would try his best to work with 612 sounds. The route itself isn't complete in some areas and will continue to be worked on. It's a tsg product after all so it would eventually be high quality

I've heard that it is a bit grindy. Steam reviews are all over the place and for what you got, it was quite expensive. It's very realistic in terms of driving behavior, physics, sounds, announcements, etc and a 1:1 representation of the city. You need to use the manual to learn how to start the whole thing. Eventually support got dropped when munich came out so whatever issues there are, still present. I don't own any of those so can't say what issues are there. But from steam reviews alone, some say there's some game breaking issues that were never fixed. Some say it's a perfect game, etc. Would recommend seeing gameplay on YouTube and reviews

Yeah all I could find was maps that said to Birmingham, just wasn’t clear if they were ran by them or it was just a general Birminghams that way. Shame really.
