As we all know, Linke Rheinstrecke: Koblenz - Mainz is coming out soon for Train Sim World 3. It is a beautiful route and in TSW, it will be set in the 90s, releasing with the BR 103, BR 110 and the n-Wagen. Nowadays, you would not see a single one of those trains on the route, but instead a variety of different other ones. So I suggest to develop a second version of Linke Rheinstrecke, set in the modern days (similar to how the Island Line has been reworked by Rivet Games as well). On Sundays livestream, Matt said that not much has changed on the route (apart from the trains) so I think this would be ideal. The following trains can be seen on the route today: ICE 1 (already in TSW); on the route, only the short variant is in service (11 cars): ICE T (highly requested for TSW): The DB Süwex FLIRT 3 trains (regional services): These would be my favourite choice if there can only be one new train. I think some new colours (instead of always red) for modern regional trains in Germany would be great. Apart from that, I really like the FLIRT 3, especially in this livery. And I believe DTG has the Süwex license already, at least for Creators Club. Vlexx (private company) Diesel trains (BR 622), also doing regional services: IC services with the BR 101 (also already in TSW): And lastly, freight trains with various locos. The rhine is a beautiful river and I think it would be awesome to have this stunning route in two versions: old and new!
Great Idea, but what would be even easier than developing a second version would just be a seperate modern timetable with all the trains you suggested. As youve said nothing big has changed on the route anyway apart from one or the other platform Renovation, so something like the diesel legends pack with modern german traction would be really amazing and realistic, as i dont see DTG creating a modern day clone of the Route, but another timetable is well possible.
Great idea and for the 182 it must run 23:45 Koblenz Hauptbahnhof 00:39 Mainz Hbf which it does in real life. Realistic end point should be Frankfurt am Main Hbf via Frankfurt am Main Flughafen. While the sleeper train which is the 23:45 Koblenz 00:39 Mainz Hbf should end at Frankfurt am Main Süd service also calls at Frankfurt Airport.
Okay, maybe the Route changed a bit This was Mainz Hbf in the 90s, before it was renovated to its current State, also in the end 90s. So it depends which Mainz Hbf is in game, i dont think something big changed track wise, but the canopy is now gone for a big concrete Overpass.
I personally could live with the fact that newer trains run on the "old" route. It's basically the Diesel-Legends pack, but with reversed polarity. Instead of old locos on a new route, we have new locos on an old route. As the route itself didn't change soooo much (except for maybe Mainz Hbf), it wouldn't look out of place. It's actually a good opportunity for a loco DLC with the FLIRT 3 as new train for regional services and the ICE 1 for the long distance services. The BR 101, the ICE 3 and maybe 146/143/110 with Dostos could be additional layers for a new timetable.
Totally agree. I would of course be happier if the station would be updated as well, but I would not complain if not. Honestly, for me this is about the route along the Rhine, which is just amazingly beautiful. And of course about the FLIRT 3, I would start jumping around if it was announced
A great suggestion, would be very happy with such - especially that it would give another route to have the epic ICE 1 on! Anyway, my concern of the 1990s-themed Linke Rheinstrecke: Koblenz - Mainz route is how the actual timetable will be. Basically, how busy, how much variation, any freight, how much long-term playability etc. It's certainly seems that it will be a lot different to the other TSW German routes, especially timetable-wise - which are, overall, the best in the game - and that's why I worry: because that's why German content is the best in TSW, because it feels like an actual network with a plethora of usable rolling stock and variety. Will the new 1990s route hardly, if at all, use any other existing locos except the 110 and n-Wagens? I'd prefer the mighty 101 which, in TSW, is one of the best locos and the route would certainly be great for that. So, yes, I absolutely agree a modern day Linke Rheinstrecke: Koblenz - Mainz is needed!
I'm pretty sure, we'll see the 363 in blue-beige from DRA as layer. Maybe the DB BR 155. It's an eastern german loco, but since this route is set in 97, it's not implossible. Probably not the blue 155 from BRO, as PRESS was founded in 2000. I'm not sure about the 101. I think at that time, the 101 was already in use. But the IC-Coaches we have are more or less form 2015-ish. Maybe the 101, using the (until now unknown) coaches of the 103? The ICE 1 ingame is a modernised variant, so it would look a little out of place, so not sure about a layer here.
I think the 90s version will not be too unrealistic, the BR 103 was seen everywhere at that time and the BR 110 with the n-Wagen will complete the picture. However, I of course still hope for the modern version. It would be so amazing to have the route in two versions, it would feel like a small time travel, playing on the 90s version and then jumping to the modern one
Older times are good, but as I have never visited, it would be good to have a setting that is closer to the present day, as it is also a journey for me.
Similar what they did to Great Western Express with diesel Legends it would be nice if they overhaul Great Western Express for TSW3
You mean the whole route electrified 36mi and in the case of Koblenz Mainz 23:45 Koblenz 00:39 Mainz is carried out by the 182
The extra locos would bring up a great expansion pack, it could also deal as an expension pack, if DTG decides to complete the section between Mainz and Frankfurt, also opening new route possibilities like the Rechte Rhein Strecke Route, Schnellfahrstrecke Rhein-Main, Frankfurt Mannheim and also Frankfurt-Würzburg
When it comes to Bahnstrecke Frankfurt am Main Würzburg missing sections are Frankfurt am Main Hbf Hanau Asschaffenburg & Gemünden am Main Würzburg Main Spessart Bahn Ost because the central section is filled by Main Spessart Bahn Asschaffenburg Laufach Heigenbrücken Lohr Bahnhof Gemünden am Main that includes the High Speed Line connector Nantenbacher kurve also incomplete and finished later to make Frankfurt am Main Würzburg playable.
I looked at the current ICE services between Mainz and Koblenz on bahn.de and looked up what type of ICE runs those services (on fernbahn.de). It was only 11 car ICE 1s and some ICE Ts
Yeah, no. It's not only LDVs. Most of them are, but there are quite a few services that are operated by non-LDV 401s, seems like fernbahn.de doesn't mention those... we'd also need a proper LDV for those services, and I don't think DTG will make one any time soon
That's great to hear, so apparently even more ICE 1s Maybe the normal ICE 1s don't stop at either Mainz or Koblenz, so I didn't see them when I looked up the services on bahn.de. However, I think we have good chances of getting an LDV ICE 1. When DTG releases a new route, in most cases it comes with one new train and one from an older route. That one often gets an update for the new route, for example the 403 on Munich to Augsburg had the modernised driver displays compared to the 406 on Köln, and the 403 on Kassel-Würzburg received another update, bringing the modernised version of the ICE 3 to the game. I could see that happening with the ICE 1 as well. I think Modern day Linke Rheinstrecke with Süwex FLIRT 3 and LDV ICE 1 is my new dream now.
That's why I think, that a modern-loco-DLC on Koblenz Mainz would also fit very nicely with the FLIRT 3 as new train and the ICE 1 (either coming with the pack or as layer), the 101 as layer as well.
To be honest, i think 2002 early would be more suitable with SFS Frankfurt-Köln haven't entered service and DB were in the middle of changing. And maybe DTG can make ICE2/ICE1early and IC coaches(Bordbistro,Cabcar, etc) as a bundle to sell.
I purchased Linke Rheinstrecke and I just have to point out that in my opinion, this is the most beautiful route in Train Sim World so far. Driving next to the rhine with all the hills, the vineyards, the roads, all those castles and the towns you go right through, the scenery is absolutely stunning! The fireworks that come with the mastery also are amazing. (I downloaded a mod that replaces the original trains with the BR 101 and the BR 143 with Dostos, I just prefer modern stuff) That is exactly why I think it would really be worth it to develop a second version of this route for the modern days. Being able to experience different trains (from the old 103 to modern FLIRT 3 trains) would bring such a great variety and I am certain it would pay off. Anyway, I'm going back for some Dostos along the rhine
Excellent idea and here's the thing with DB Baureihe 103 Linke Rheinstrecke 2023 if made it will be the museum train complete with the matching observation car TEE Rheingold. The late night sleeper train services are operated by 182 23:45 Koblenz 00:39 Mainz Hbf
To this day, Linke Rheinstrecke with the modern stock mod is my favourite route. I still hope for a Süwex DLC with a modern timetable some day.
I live in Mainz so this route is naturally one of my favourites and I wish we can see a modernised version. As for changes that have happened: Pretty much none in terms of track layout since the route today just has less priority given the SFS Köln-Rhein/Main... a few sidings have gone and the big shunting yard just north of Bingerbrück (today known as Bingen Hbf) as well. Further as has already been mentioned Mainz Hbf has seen a major renovation of the station's buildings along with the introduction of a platform between track 6 and 8 replacing track 7. Also a minor change in track layout has happened north of Mainz Hbf where the connections from Wiesbaden enter the scene: In the old version both lines connect to the yard on the right while today the line to Wiesbaden hasn't changed but that coming from Wiesbaden has been rerouted to enter the yard to the left of the yard. In conclusion: Besides modernising the buildings lining the entire route the changes really are limited to the revised Mainz Hbf and updating signage at the stations and removing a few sidings. Really not a huge deal. Something I was thinking about doing myself (at least the modernised Mainz Hbf and updates on the track layout) but since the editor doesn't allow me to insert the LFR in its entirety to then edit the bespoke areas this seems like a bit too much for me to handle
route is nice but yeah I would love to run some modern stock on it in timetable mode without mods, officially
