Right, they use the mainline tracks via Harold Interlocking. From that screenshot, it appears the Metroliner cab car is in Queens on the mainline trackage but I can't tell for certain if that is the case.

My mistake, I found another set of screenshots that show LIRR 3rd rail for the Queens section of this route just outside of Long Island City. There is a chance LIRR M7's and M3's could be layered in but we'll have to wait and see

Question: Is the metroliner cab car, when at the head of the train on the NY-Trenton portion of NEC, allowed to travel at the same speed as when the loco is heading the train? Or does it have to travel at a lower speed? (I seem to recall an accident somewhere in the US involving a train headed by a cab car that led to some controversy around their use and their reduced safety when compared to being pulled by a loco).

    Three things:
    1. Sunnyside features 3rd rail, check out this video (7 second mark) ->
    2. Is that Harold? I thought this was near Newark Penn Station
    3. I'm not sure if Keystones cruise through Sunnyside. I thought most would just go into the Yard since they terminate at NYP.

With the return of the AM FLEET cab car that just leaves the SW1000R AMTRAK switcher from sunnyside yard to return.
    Wouldn't it?

If putting something on the roadmap, isn’t on the roadmap, does that not mean it isn’t happening?

I seem to remember some complaints that the SW1000R isn't actually used in New York, so that DLC was "inaccurate" (and therefore, literally unplayable to some people!).

So maybe they will save that switcher for a different area.

It did indeed come before the increases but it was £14.99, not £8.49. It would most likely be a £19.99 pack if it were to come out today.

That may be true but there are most likely more then a few routes in this game that are less then 100% accurate.Still since DTG likes to reuse trains i can see them finding a place to sneak this back into some NEC route.

I’m actually getting quite excited for this route. Watched The British Ace’s recent video on the old NEC NY route in TSW2020, and the scenery actually looked quite nice and diverse even back then. He was also driving the ex-Metroliner cab car, which seemed to be very compact, unique and cozy!

The actual loco that is used in Sunnyside yard is a EMD/MPI GP15D, but not sure if DTG would ever include it for TSW.

+SW1000R Switcher.Well now it a sure thing DTG will have to 2 engines to 2 recycle and 1 new (GP15?) to charge everybody 25.00 each for start saving up.

Amtrak GP15D with some MoW hoppers would be a more interesting DLC than the others mentioned in my opinion. I also like to stay on the side of what is prototypical.

It's was or is $20.00 going to $25.00 wouldn't surprise me.Look routes have gone up why wouldn't extra locomotives.

I think the current price of dlc locomotives is between $20/25 currently.

This image is taken at Newark, not Harold Interlocking (which does have third rail).

Will it be possible to preorder the new content on consoles? i presume no, as other than the base game, i've never seen that option for consoles.

It's much less rainbowy and colorful if that makes sense. American freight container colors are less colorful in real life so that is probably what they did

I am confused by the wording of this. First:
This month, we have a release date for Add-ons Manager (finally!)
    And then:
We were hoping to give players a date today, but a couple of final issues mean we’ll come back next week with an update (and hopefully a release date!)
Is there a release date or isn't there? How do you go from finally to hopefully?

This is likely a last-minute editing error. As mentioned, we'd intended to provide a release date, but just not quite there.

OK, so when it's new content, you're OK to release it despite a long list of known issues. But when it's a fix that people have been waiting for a long time to get, you can't do it until it's properly tested. I understand now.

I don't know if this has been brought up, but hopefully none of Northeast Regional trains will have a Metroliner cab car attached. Don't get me wrong, It's a cool model, and I'm excited to have it back, but the only trains we should really see them on are the Keystones. With only a dozen or so round trips a day we theoretically shouldn't see them too terribly often in traffic on the route.

The fact that DTG even acknowledged the color disparities and improved them is a good sign. I hope all US Freight routes get this update!

This raises a few questions: how many services will utilize the old Metroliner cab cars? How long will said services be? Will they layer onto Boston Sprinter? (I'm assuming the answer to this last question is "no", as it's not prototypical for the era simulated, although it was in the past.)

I'm debating whether I should only buy the Acela and wait for a sale for Trenton or get them both for $53.99.

I share others' enthusiasm that the SW1000 switcher eventually gets added as a loco pack - hopefully for use in both Boston and Trenton. And how about some freight layers? I love Peninsula Corridor because it has freight, passenger switching, and four different types of cab to drive in for passenger.

I don't know much about American operations but it sounds like the Trenton route from what we know so far, probably won't be as busy as it should be. Maybe it won't seem too bad on release. Personally it will be sale purchase for me but that is mainly as I will be likely getting the now fixed Scotrail route.

I don't even know if the Boston route is but it seems busy enough and the Acela will add something different to it. I really like the route too, especially now I understand more about the safety systems.

It is a pleasure to enjoy the fastest.
It's a showcase for both being pulled out or being pulled away.
It would be nice to split it up and add the entire North East Corridor to the sale.

I don’t think they ever went up to Boston. They didn’t have electric service up there during the original Metroliner era and I don’t recall them ever appearing on regular NEC trains.

It depends on your point of view. The nec won’t ever be as busy as a uk or German mainline. Ny Penn will never be as busy as any London station or koln.

if the timetable is realistic and based on the real life timetable it will be busy. It has to be. For example I keep hearing folks talk about how station x doesn’t look as busy as in real life because train abc isn’t in the game.

everything that runs on the nec between Trenton and ny Penn is in this game. If they do the timetable right. Caveat is maybe three ish freight that will run to local business (the few left) to make turns.

It sounds like it’s stacking up nicely. In rush hour a train will enter Penn every 2-3 mins and leave Penn every 2-3 mins in the evening rush. Between the rushes there are 5-6 trains per hour doing local stops in each direction.

Metroliners never ran past ny Penn always ny to Philly or ny to dc. Acela replaced metroliners and Amtrak expanded the service to Boston then

There is more density between Rahway and ny Penn due to the coast line branch junction. There is more density between secaucus and ny Penn due to the Dover and Morris lines converging
