Another Quick Play mixed filling experience, nice train BUT no passengers boarding (eventually at NY Central SIX people left my train :/), Safety systems made my ride a penalty disaster ( since I drive tottally fine germans pzb and lzb hudless) faster, slower faster, slower, buzzing and rushing, desperate acknowledging and guessing what the next alarm came... I have B-button (xbox) paranoia after the ride
The safety systems are easy once you figure them out. One thing to remember is if you overspeed you need to brake into I think notch 6 AND acknowledge.
basically just slam on the brakes when you get the alert to slowdown. Acknowledge first and apply lots of brake so you can slow down quickly without penalty. And you are good to go. And obviosuly going to right speed depending on what the adu is telling you. From bottom, 0, 15mph, 30mph, 45mph, 60 and line speed I believe
For the ATC (signal speed reductions, not track speed reductions), you don’t even need to acknowledge. Once the brake is applied more than 50% and get 2mph below the new speed limit, the beeping stops. 50% is the suppression point on both the M7a and the M3a.
Do US trains actually require such aggressive braking with safety systems? >50% for the M7A/M3A, 65% for the ACS-64, 100% for the MBTA stuff. It just feels so... not right.
If I recall there’s also a timer before penalty without using suppression. If you are close to the new speed limit, you can adjust within that time limit with a smaller brake application. Depends on the train though.
