This is my look of Haughty Derision at the Add ons manager being delayed again. No longer shocked or frustrated. Just disappointment
Disappointing yes, but at least they kept their word and gave us an update, rather than just remaining silent on the matter. I do feel optimistic that we are very close now.
You're disappointed that the beta team highlighted something which resulted in the deployment of it been delayed..? If they sent out the add-on manager with known issues and users highlighted them, there would be uproar. Give them a break, for God's sake.
If they released it and it wasn't ready the forum would go into meltdown. They delay it because it isn't ready, they update us on the fact and people are still complaining!
They did put the caveat in that as long as the beta team were happy with the current build then they would announce a release date. It is frustrating but I would rather have it where it does not screw up my PS5 in a costly manner.... just to push it out. Hentis
As someone who's sort of joined the line of complainers, I think it's got to be seen in its context and history of communication. They've been telling us that we're closing in on release for over a year now. It's beyond frustrating when, after the teaser that a release date might be on the horizon, the news boiled down to "it's coming soon™". Not trying to cast blame here, but it does feel like a slap in the face. They always tell us that they're working on it with the highest priority, but it just doesn't feel like that.
I love all the comments that say I would rather wait until it is working with no issues. When have you even known DTG to release anything without issues despite everything supposedly tested. This issue which DTG knew about before the PS5 was released should have been a top priority and it clearly hasn’t been. They even complicated matters by including all platforms because they had seen a small improvement whilst working on it. PS5 users just wanted to be able to use all their DLC that was the only fix that was required.
Have to correct this for fairness. DTG didn't know about this until they hit the limit, nearly a year after the PS5 release. They did mea culpa that the limit was in the PS5 development docs and was simply missed. I can only imagine how big those docs are and certainly can't claim that I've never missed something in a manual or the fine print.
You missing a detail in fine print in a manual has no resemblance to DTG missing this. If your business is using PS5 as a platform for the goods you sell you would have read it, however long and detailed it was, with a fine tooth comb. However long the document was and however long it took to plough through it you would have ensured that a member of staff was responsible for doing so. it is just another pointer as to how much DTG value quality. So many releases with so many bugs/issues some of which are still to be fixed after over a year being the main pointer. Your point about DTG not knowing about it until nearly after a year is complete nonsense as players, like myself, had the issue as soon as we started to try and download all of our DLC. There is nothing to correct out of fairness and DTG made the situation worse and more complicated by involving other platforms that didn’t have the issue. The limit on the PS5 needed to be fixed and nothing else.
And they're not wrong with that statement. Maybe a bit macabre but in fact every day that passes by brings me closer to my death.Only thing is we don't know when it comes, like this fix.
Let's hope the add-ons manager releases before your untimely demise as, seeing how long it takes a ghost to turn on a light, it might be a while before you manage to use a PS5 after shaking off your mortal coil.
Except that we don't know if it will actually ever come. Ask the TSC crowd about their TGV Réseau update. That's still coming soon™. I'm not saying it won't, TSW simply won't survive on PS in the long run without it, but I won't count my chickens before the update is downloading on my PS5.
I don't know what really went on with the TGV route but I imagine the ramifications of DTG not sorting out the add-ons manager would be much greater.
Absolutely, that’s what I tried to communicate with my last sentence. I’m just growing increasingly weary the longer it takes since DTG has a bad history of delivering on promises.
The company I work for has a 350 page master agreement with its major customer that defines the very existence of our relationship, and it’s ability to do business. I’ve read it 3 times. Our CEO and 2 managers, many others, have read it. It’s revised very 5 years. Trust me, even after all of that, stuff still gets missed.
I'm sure they did read it with a fine-tooth comb. But humans are human, as nockwurst points out. It's much easier to scoff at people for missing perfection than it is to actually achieve it. Indisputable. DTG knew there was an issue, but had to figure out what it was. I could have worded that better. Here's the post where they spelled it out. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ps5-add-ons-update-–-5th-october-2021.46287/ I'm not sure what DTG's current intent is. I think they've said that the add-on manager is giving performance improvements in the other systems unaffected by the bug, which is why they're releasing it everywhere. Do they want it to go out on all systems simultaneously? I agree that the PS5 release to fix the serious problem needs to be the sole priority.
For anyone disputing that DTG didn't know about the PS5 DLC size limit, look into why on 19th August 2021 we all had to redownload all our DLC in an update. This update added huge amounts of compression to the PAK file size. I wonder why this was? e.g. LeedsManchester.pak From TSW2020 - 13.41GB - https://steamdb.info/depot/577353/ From TSW2 - 4.53GB - https://steamdb.info/depot/1304415/history/ LongIslandRailRoad.pak From TSW2020 - 12.34GB - https://steamdb.info/depot/577354/ From TSW2 - 4.21GB - https://steamdb.info/depot/1304414/history/
You are basically right, but this 1. takes far too long now and 2. it is such a fundamental problem for PS5-players (not being able to use most of the owned content for a very long time).
