This thread is full of signal rules, with diagrams, for the US railroads that appear in TSW. A massive thanks to solicitr for sending all these links through and requesting we pin this.

Brandon's full breakdown of NEC: Boston to Providence Signals

This site explains US signals in general and the logic behind them:

I'm happy you find my website useful. I also try and promote Al Krug's former signaling pages as they really explain US signaling the best that I've seen.

I don't know everything, but if there are any specific questions, I'm happy to try and help.

I thought I should mention, so that players can find the correct table, that Sand Patch Grade is in CSX' former Chessie/C&O territory, and Horseshoe Curve is in NS' ex-Conrail territory. Clinchfield by the 1970s used Seaboard signaling so the CSX ex-SCL page applies.

Those are all covered by the NORAC rules

I also have a basic guide to Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) signal rules, used in Canada. CROR signal rules vary somewhat from American signal rules used in NORAC, GCOR, etc. CROR signal rules are pertinent to anyone who uses the CN Oakville Sub simulation. The guide I have found comes directly from the Transport Canada website. It could make for a long post, or I could upload as a file.
