Ny-trenton: Usa Content Is Still Severely Flawed

That service was probably added cuz they had enough time to add it in before release. Remember Matt said many services couldn't be added cuz of lack of time

Yeah - a woeful amount of services when compared to the reality.

The 300 falls apart rapidly when almost a third of them are just depot movements & a majority of mainline runs are for Amtrak. Once you’ve added that there is no AI services to the mix, you have a deserted NEC.

Nobody is disputing that 300 services offer the value for gameplay, the problem is that any immersion of that gameplay taking place on the NEC is shattered.

 

I don’t have the dlc, so I cannot confirm any of the details, but I noticed that there are actually multiple trains heading to/from long branch, which would probably represent the same services as south amboy trains. Also, in the photo I’m posting you can see that these trains sadly only reach Rahway, which I guess in the end is better than none.

Also does anyone know why the alp-46 has only 40 services when the cab car has 92?!

It is an interesting factor - previously, only the overall number of services was looked at. I remember myself being in awe of HMA numbers. Now that number itself says very little. Let's say 100 playable + 0 AI vs 100 playable + 200 AI - the experience is vastly different. Gameplay content is identical, but the latter would be a lot more enjoyable experience (provided the stock is accurate enough).

 

If I do end up buying the route I will try to post the whole timetable somewhere here so people can see what they are really getting. I hate when streamers buy the new routes but never show the timetable, just the flashy new trains.

Apparently, there's an issue with the livery designer on the Amfleet Cab Car too where the actual Amtrak livery appears in the designer, not a blank slate, A console user posted it on the TSC Discord.

 

If true, this is hilarious. This route screamed rushed in so many aspects already, and nobody bothered to make a mastery for it? Though I admit, I would trade mastery for non-clipping Penn.

 

HMA is a perfect comparison for the issue with this DLC, it may have a lot of services when you look at just the number, but overall it’s an empty route.

Timetables are key to making a route feel the way it should - this goes both ways, nobody wants to see WSR or the new upcoming TSG branch with 100’s of services zipping up and down it. DTG simply have to stay away from New York until they can make it feel the way it should. They have made too many attempts at it now for them to be given a pass on the scenery and liveliness (or lack thereof).

 

Good catch I missed that. So actually this is a mixed timetable from the NEC and North Jersey coast. So we are going to have NEC services missing that go all the way to Trenton

 

t hink it might include scenarios . Either way 301 is nothing to get excited about. ALP-46 with only 35 services that some don't even go all the way to Trenton. It has a mix bag of limited timetable services from the NEC and NJCL. just doesn't make sense.

 

Clinchfield was pretty good at this. Not a whole lot of services, perhaps it could probably use some more mainline action so that you'd have to wait for trains to pass, but it was prototypical and varied enough. Even nicely split, so 8-hour moves could be played piece-by-piece.

 

So here got the complete breakdown for the ALP-46 services
So here the list:
10 services are yard moves to and from Sunny side.
10 services to Trenton from Penn
7 services to Jersey avenue from Penn
6 services from north jersey coast line to long branch going as far as Rahway
2 services from north Jersey coast line to South Amboy as far as Rahway
5 services from Jersey avenue to Penn.

40 total

 

I just bought Trenton and the Acela. I’m clearing space on my ssd before it downloads.

it was beautiful looking on the stream last night. This is my home route I can’t not have it in my collection.

I hope someday dtg gives it a proper timetable.

yup much worse... I just can't believe it. I looked several times to see if I was missing something. I got this list from one the the ambassador stream. Watching the stream and the time he was driving was much worse than what they showed us. Penn had two trains on it. Trying to get the services for the Multilevel cab car

 

40 ALP46 services total, that's bad enough, but only 10 that do the full route from Penn Station to Trenton... that's really bad.

 

Just 10 NEC line services for the whole day? Damn, that's ridiculous.

This is a certified LIRR moment.

This has to be the wort representation of any main line in the game by far.

 

Now, all we can hope for is that they redo the timetable completely, cause it's seriously needed at this point. (and not a paid timetable either, a free updated one).

It's ironic, given how late we've seen the NJT cab car, that it's actually the ALP46, that's the rare thing. Given the ratio of the services between the two I suspect services with cab cars on both ends... should work since you don't even need pantographs

Looking at the timetable now. It looks like the busiest part is the morning rush. It’s not full but has 24 trains before 9am

many of them have stock moves to sunny side which is nice

whew the depth really shows is in the off peak and evening rush. The evening rush is lacking.

there are numerous coast line trains on the timetable. So the issue isn’t whether or not the coast line is included or not … it’s there. The issue is the general lack of trains compared to the real thing.

I may be criticized for saying this but one of the reasons I bought the route is I have faith in dtg. They are railfans. There is no way a bunch of railfans … especially Matt who produces this game and is a crazy railfan … will allow this timetable to stand. I don’t expect dtg to say anything because they can’t.

but they have a timetable guru and a huge railfan in charge of the game. I believe in my heart this route will see a proper timetable.

I will try to submit a ticket. There is just no mastery appearing for NY - Trenton route in mastery tab at main menu. I play on Xbox Series X.

 

i want to have faith but it’s hard when there’s a pattern of being constantly let down when hopes were already low to begin with.

i really hope you’re right because this is just sad. Rush hour out of NYC is feeling like MARC during early afternoon

 

So what happened here? They started building up the timetable starting from the morning then ran out of time? Lol.

Lol I just got the day 1 patch … it blew up my Acela training and locked the game

 

They probably figured nobody in their right mind would want to play the route enough to bother with a mastery challenge. I like their forward thinking on this. They're finally starting to understand the community

I think back to the save game … it wasn’t there … the community freaked … they created a toggle … they fixed it … they added it back by default

remember the jackhammer sounds? Took em awhile but it got fixed

add ons manager. I know it’s not as fast as the PlayStation players want but it’s going to be there.

Again … I’m going to choose to have faith in them

 

Maybe they gave up on fixing all the issues with Mastery, and are phasing it out. I heard they did something like this with some content that was too buggy to fix.

 

Hopefully Matt can work some magic, but I think the problem comes from other departments in his company.
I'm sure if it was up to him alone, the game would go from mediocre or good, depending on the routes, to excellent.

Who knows, maybe one day in the future he could take over and be the big boss
