So, yeah those Heritage Units have alot of problems, and I'm gonna try and go thru each unit and label everything that needs to be fixed texture wise on them... 1st up UP 1982 (Missouri Pacific) 1st off, the number font (on all these units) is wrong. The SD70ACe text is the wrong color (Black not red) Builders plate is missing its background Someone spilled ketchup and mustard on the fans. Poor weathering placement The UP Proud Heritage Text is squished.
This is going to be a multiple part post as the forums only allow for five images to be uploaded at a time. I am only covering modeling issues on the recently released UP Heritage SD70ACes. There are a plethora of visible seams and normal errors present on every model in the pack, alongside broken UVs resulting in the textures being improperly placed on the model. This is post one.
UP 1983 (Western Pacific) Poor textures on the front and back white sills Incorrect number font, and wrong/missing number outline. Missing Builders Plate background.
UP 1988 (Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad) Incorrect Number Font and missing outline Poor/broken texture near the battery box Weird/glitched shadow issues with decals and the White Side Sill Random White Spot on the Engineer side of the locomotive. (Also the KATY was the only unit with the correct Builder Plate background)
UP 1989 (Denver& Rio Grande Railroad) Wrong Number Font, SD70ACe text is wrong color (Should be white) Poor Sill texture Same Ketchup and Mustard texture on fan as 1982. (Just duller) The unit is EXTREMLY Shiny at extreme angles, like its almost chromed
UP 1995 (Chicago and Northwestern) Incorrect Number Font, UP1995 text missing from underneath the SD70ACe text. Nose logo is chopped off at the top and the bottom Logo is also chopped off on the bottom left side on the side logos. Poor front and back side sill textures No Builders Plate background.
UP 1996 (Southern Pacific) Incorrect number font Southern Pacific Text is cut off on the sides More on the Southern, not much on the Pacific Decal glitch, Happened once, but went away on a second load in. Poor rear sill texture Builders Plate info is behind the stripes, no background. Black bleeds thru where the daylight orange should be.
Its honestly kind of appalling how bad these textures are, mistakes like the textures on the fans of 1982 and 1989 is something that SHOULD NOT happen to an OFFICIAL payware product in this day and age. This pack I don't think is even worth it on sale now until these textures are fixed.
With so little content, one would expect at least the liveries themselves to be top-notch... earlier I saw some comment in a different thread about paid liveries being meaningful because they're better than CC stuff... that aged like milk...
You would think, but looking at them like this, its clear they were rushed in order to meet a deadline and it shows.
Only have Boston Sprinter and the Acela and altough the update made Boston Sprinter part unplayable because of an audio issue on the F40PH-3C I'm very pleased with the update. The TSW3 update makes it look way different than I remember it. The Acela also gives this route extra value. It's the first time that the addition of a loco makes me perceive a route way different.
I don’t know whether this is an old bug or something introduced with the patch. PC version, Boston Sprinter driving from Stoughton in the MBTA cab car. Door controls not responding on either the pop up or keyboard commands. I had to literally go along the side of the train and drop the trapdoor then close the door manually for every position. At the next station the door open prompt would not trigger until I manually opened one door platform side of the train.
Damn. Wanted to get the UP Livery pack, but after seeing these posts, I might just forget about it. Really low quality.
Afaik DTG are aware of this issue and it seems to be caused by enabling safety systems **before** "activating the cab" (as the game knows it, i.e. moving the reverser forward or backwards, not the cab active button). Try to test the same service again but this time only enable the safety systems with the reverser unlocked and moved forward. Ctrl + Numpad Enter should (hopefully) enable the safety systems without having to walk to the engine room. Otherwise just moving the reverser forward before you run back to the engine room should be safe.
You need to move the train brake handle (ABCL) to **at least** the Handle Off position before the emergency brakes can be released.
Jesus, DTG, those textures look bad (heritage pack). I worked as a graphic designer for 6 years before - had I released stuff like that, I would've received my P45 straight away. The Rio Grande livery has outline on the numbers, but even those outlines are not the same thickness. Appalling.
I also find the topic's title funny: 'megathread'. I know they named it like this because you can report issues here regarding three releases, but this 'mega' to me sounds like they knew these would've have an awful lot of bugs.
I just can't stop laughing. NY- Trenton is half recycled, the old Amtrak Cab Car is recycled. They didn't even consider bringing the Yard Goat back (i bet they will sell this again as a DLC) even though people already paid for it. Penn Station looks completely untouched compared to the TSW2020 version. Trains clipping trough concrete poles. Acela looks quite decent but the sounds are a bit of a joke if you ask me. Considering the prices they asking for it its nothing more than a bad joke Thanks DTG! Thank you for confirming that it was a good idea to walk away from TSW and keeping my money for something else.
You have made a superb journey, everything is working quite well but... Where are the trains? Where is the freight? It's empty, so empty!! It's the busiest road in New York and it's empty as if it were the end of the world!!! How can you make a full road empty? Reimbursed, not worth 35 euro, there is too much service, too many trains and there is not even a single "static" freight wagon in the depots!! DTG you are kidding us. Boston is so much better now, you screwed up again.
This. I´ve done my share of flight sim textures and repaints on Corel Suite many moons ago, and I can assure that wrong font types, sizes and spacings alone were the absolut reasons for not-a-chance-in-hell-release, even for a freeware delivery. The web is full of 1001 font packages, and if you can´t get the correct font, you paint it pixel by pixel. Full stop. To bundle this into a payware package and actually sell it to the public is the peak of disgrace. No surprise, though ...
The irony is that the number font on the original SD70ACes is closer to the real thing on the Heritage units than whatever was chosen.
So am I right in thinking, having browsed the PS store this morning (not looked at Steam yet), if you just buy the NYC to Trenton route, you only get the NJT loco and rolling stock? If you want the Acela it has to made a separate purchase, which brings the price over £40? (I can't see the bundle on the PS store). Think I will definitely wait for a sale on both platforms!
No you get the Amtrak ACS-64 and the Amfleet carriages too. The Acela is indeed separate and adds layers to Boston Sprinter too.
Acela bug: I'm below the permitted speed, yet I have the 'overspeed' warning, as well as 'suppression' while my brakes are released: how to know the screen resolution of my laptop
Was able to sneak in a couple of quick Boston runs. The signaling work by our cactus friend is absolutely fantastic. Easily one of my favorite route as there’s a lot of action (adverse signaling, speed changes, etc). True to life, you’re usually going to be late coming into Boston. The Acela is awesome (that horn!) besides a few bugs that folks have mentioned already. As for the NJT route, I like it, overall. As someone from NJ who’s taken that route, the scenery generally does a good job of capturing the local feel of each area. At Newark we have what looks sort of like the Prudential center, the NJT building, other office type buildings etc. I surprisingly don’t really miss the LIRR traffic. Sunnyside is packed. The NJT hardware is awesome. Amtrak timetable is great but the NJT timetable is a bit lacking and should be busier at big junctions like seacaucus.
A deadline probably had to be met again and nobody looked over it anymore. The textures should be relatively easy to patch, other bugs are more serious. But that shouldn't be a quality standard, because you really can't let textures get by like that. Especially if they are offered as a paid DLC.
It also shows that the section to Newark was reused and not really modified apart from the lighting that the stations up to Newark Airport dont even have full platform upclimbability, a feature that was introduced with TSW2 and consistent on every route since then. Until NYT, i guess
ACS-64 Just two cents from me: The lighting on the displays and the ATC unit is odd overlit double lit. It's bright all the time, when a little light falls on it. There comes way to much light into the cab - seems like the roof is not blocking light. Second, the Curise Control is still broken. If I turn it on (1, left display), the train goes full speed when the power is on idle - even if I am at a station with open doors and brankes on! If the Curise Controll is turned on once, it can't be turned off! The Off button (2) in the left display does nothing.
For a Joetable you can normal expect greatness, however this doesn’t feel like a joetable it’s too quite
Journey Mode on the Trenton route is a little weird. It starts with the ACS-64 tutorial and then the next run is in the Cab Car, which you technically don't know how to drive at this point. It's fine for me since I remember it from the old days, but it's an odd progression for a new person.
I had an issue with Multilevel lights in the route introduction, but other than that, I haven't noticed any issues with them. That service in particular was one that started at Penn Station, cab end leading, and all the lights were already on for me. So not sure if that helps, but that's what was the case for me.
I don't care how good, or bad the route is. Until the download manager is sorted I won't be enjoying it / being frustrated by it. Come on DTG All these new DLC's and nowhere to put them. Sort it out please !!
I have one gripe with your post it’s called pork roll. they did a really nice job with metropark! The only thing they missed is 500 people crossing rt 27 holding up traffic when a Trenton bound train stops
Another issue spotted on UP 1995. The incorrect CNW logo is used on the side. Its supposed to be Chicago and Northwestern SYSTEM not LINE. There is also supposed to be a while outline on the logo in-between the logo itself and the sliver, for both the nose and side logo.
