For online play, a player turn time limit is required. My game last night took far too long, especially with no voice chat. The time limit should be set by the player creating the game, and visible to players enterring. Ideally there would be a game browser that would allow players to select an online game by the requirements, IE: 3-4 players, variable setup, no AI's, 45 second turns, voice chat enabled.
Unfortunately the developers decided to ignore all previous versions of the online game, either that or they just decided to remove everything that makes the game work just for kicks! As a huge Catan fan this is such a let down!
Hi, i'm seeing several replies from you across the forums. We are going to be proactively working on improving issues and implementing feature to improve quality of life based on player feedback. If there are specifics you'd like to share so i can make sure they are passed on to the team, please do share those with us.
It's a shame as it's not like we're short on good tabletop adaptations to take inspiration from when working on your first project like this. A lot of these features like turn timers are industry standard, because of almost two decades of experience with how to tackle various issues that online play brings up.
My advice is go play the game on Steam and see a good build in action. This is a very simple strategy game it is not a complicated build, that is why you attempt is so disappointing. There have been multiple good versions of this game over the years online which all run smoother than yours. Everything from the graphics to the AI to the game set up needs revamping. I would happliy sit down and play a few games with you to talk you through all the errors that I see, and while some may appear small they affect game play. Oh wait I couldn't talk to you or message you in a game could I as there is no facility to do so! Basic errors in the build like that are unforgivable in this age of gaming!
