    This is all quite interesting.

Really hoping the Class 700 happens- SEHS and BML would be even better with it.

Could "OGBR" refer to something in BR Green? I've been told this is appropriate livery for the transition period, so maybe a reskin that could then layer into Peak Forest?

New trains don't get bundled. They get sold at full price.

Considering that BNSF has retired all its Dash-8s, that would be fictional and out of place too.

The destination is on the roadmap but it's the full route. Don't know if much has changed from 1992 to current. 245s are current and replaced the 218. The 218s replaced the 628s i believe

Why is it that you PC players think it’s okay to leak things that haven’t been announced yet, if you see something that hasn’t been announced leave it alone, you are ruining it for those who like surprises, it’s neither funny nor clever, how would you feel if someone spoiled your fav tv show or movie you wouldn’t be happy would you?

However, that does open up a livery possibility: from 1989 the 403s were augmented in the Lufthansa Express by 103-hauled trains, painted in Lufthansa's pale gray and gold scheme.

Of course, these also stopped in 1993, so anachronistic. But only by four years.

Oh I didn't think I could do that - I always thought a fat man shuffled down the chimney - except we didn't have a chimney so he actually came in through the window. My parents were great at simulating Santa!

I do sympathise with Bradley, but at the same time it is fun to try and speculate as to what these names could mean. As long as we don't get our hopes up. Then again, I do like to read the forums, but I also like to be pleasantly surprised by an official announcement! It is a difficult one to decide between, and it is quite difficult to stay away from the leaks...

I don't know who is right or wrong here!

I mean. The BNSF SD40-2 numbers are in a series that they haven't had since the mid 2000s, in which the C40-8Ws were still around so.....

I just read something interesting on the wiki page about TSG route the writer said the DB BR 628 was it's "main" rolling stock instead of "only" rolling stock could this suggest that this route might have something other then just the DB BR 628 with it? DTG already have several of the trains seen on this route could a little recycling be in are future?

Personally it's just a bit of harmless fun and let's face it fairly sloppy on DTG's to let the information out into a non NDA protected or trusted environment before an official announcement. Knowing what might be coming down the line allows me to start planning for future purchases.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to put a Spoiler tag in the thread title but at the same time, the person moaning should have known better than to open a thread which fairly obviously might give something away.

As we have seen things on the roadmap don't mean anything until something gets released officially,up until then it can get pulled canceled and trashed.Unless it's on the roadmap it's not being worked on,well even if it's on the roadmap it may never see the light of day.

Well, it was unelectrified, and the only German diesel currently in the game is the much newer 612, besides the shunters. As for those- the 204 (DR 144) were still in East Germany, and the 363 (ex- V 60, ex- 261) had been reclassified in 1987 as a Kleinlok, which for bureaucratic reasons would rarely be seen outside a yard.

The thread's title is "New Tidbits Of Info On Future Dlcs!". It's kinda self-explanatory that there would be some kind of leak in here. Why click on the thread if that's how you feel?

First off: Look at the thread title. I think it summarizes the content perfectly without giving away any spoilers whatsoever. If you don’t like surprises, don’t click on it. It’s that simple.

I personally believe this is a cool way to get excited about future releases ever since DTG pivoted towards announcing DLCs shortly before release instead of putting them on the roadmap months prior (which is completely understandable).

I’m not a PC player, and I didn’t leak anything myself - I’m just compiling public information that was shared elsewhere. The “leak” has been publicly visible presumably for weeks and was found a few days ago by a Discord user. I only linked it because someone asked for it, hid the actual leak behind a spoiler tag and included JD’s comment from the Discord server as a disclaimer.

Everyone who frequents the forums will know that I’m very interested in cool information that can be found in public databases and/or is shared on sites like Discord. This thread is exactly about that… I wanted to share the stuff I have discovered recently in one place so others don’t have to search hours for all the info.

I know i saw a picture somewhere in one of the threads of a DB BR 363 shunting at one of this routes interchanges. But after searching high and low i still couldn't find it.I'm not sure about this but i think there was also DB DR 245 (diesel) pulling a dopplestock passenger train in the picture.

We know that mainz to koblenz locomotives will act as ai only on niddertalbahn. And that the actual real locomotives aren't in game yet. Maybe the shunters could fit in but idk

You mean like the Glasgow tram.

I tried looking up what the koblenz ai train might look like and it could be many different types.

Ratter to have another Dash 8 or an AC44 with decent locos alongside than a stupidly out of place one like the F7.

Let's be honest here, there's not a whole lot of US locos that's already in TSW to begin with that could work in a BNSF livery. If accurate, you may just get the ACe or a GP38 in an H3 colors, and that's it.

I'm wondering if the Ace is an option without heavy rework, I know BNSF has some of the early SD70Ace models with a roof mounted headlight and no ISO cab, but they seem to be the minority to the later Nose mounted headlight with ISO cab models (And to an extent, the P4 Aces)

What would be neat though, (Though i doubt it would happen) is if DTG gave us a Past and Present pack for BNSF locos, and featured the C40-8W, AC4400CW, and SD70ACe, with Warbonnet, H2, and H3 paints.

But then I look at the UP heritage unit pack, and fear that DTG may not put much effort into it.

Specifically the DLC appears to be for a Class 700/0, which is the 8-car variant that we'd see on SEHS. It's highly likely IMO that DTG are only currently committing to adding the 700 for SEHS due to the current memory issues with BML, which uses the 12-car 700/1.

Fundamentally they're incredibly similar although the /1 has a TSO instead of TSOW (the only difference being wheelchair accessibility).

Personally I'd consider splitting the /0 and /1 into separate loco DLCs to be incredibly hairsplitting - if I were being cautious about BML, I'd launch the 700/0 onto SEHS as the main DLC and then add the /1 to BML once a memory optimization pass has taken place - but I don't think we should have to pay twice for what would essentially be the same loco.

(Worth bearing in mind that we know absolutely nothing about this yet other than the name and anything could happen - including it being cancelled altogether or the BML optimisation happening before the release allowing both)

Couldn't they just scrap the HST layer for BML and achieve the same results more easily?

    I'd prefer having a Class 700 layer over a once-a-day curiosity that's for sure.

Of course the real solution would be giving the player the ability to turn layers on/off as they please. Maybe the development off the add-on manager will yield progress in this area.

No idea as I don't know the root cause of the memory issues on BML. If it's locos then maybe, but if it's unoptimised scenery or something else then there may be no need.

I'm running a reasonably powerful PC and have never experienced memory or slowdown issues of any kind with TSW so I'm not the best person to comment on root cause.

If there are memory issues with BML on certain platforms, why punish all players by not layering the 700 for those platforms that can handle it? Not trying to be controversial, just a genuine question.

The title cleary states its going to be spoilers inside. So if you don't wanna know don't click the thread.

If you are excited to see a movie and there is a review that warns about spoilers would you read it? Probably not.

So why would you click on this thread?

maybe we could just be getting the /0 and the /1 could come with a route such as MML South or ECML south so it would still seem like something new… who knows tho

IIRC Matt said once that the # of unique rail vehicles is the biggest memory bottleneck, which is why lots of layers can cause issues.

Me neither. I play on Series X and PC and don't really have any issues with BML and i have all layers installed.

considering the 700 wouldn’t use the route from ECR up to VIC, where most of the traffic actually is, it should really affect the route that much adding the 700 surely?

Same position as you Xbox Series X on some routes it comes to life more Looking at BKL 2021 timetable you get WCML South Freight for the German routes I haven't encountered a drop on them

There wouldn't be much of SEHS to run the 700 on. I think the 465 deserves it's own longer route not just a small part of a route.

the 465 does have an hour of running in all fairness but i do agree a route like the SE metro or the chatham mainline would be a welcomed addition in my eyes. the 700 can be used for approx 45mins of sehs so it’s not too small of a section

Well, I think you just stated the reason. One or two HSTs per day isn't nearly the load (on memory and especially on the dispatcher) as a whole Thameslink schedule.

I think the 700 is essential for both SEHS and BML to fill out the timetable and make the routes as realistic as possible. In the particular case of SEHS, it's pretty much the only thing holding it back from being a 'complete' route IMO (BML has quite a few outstanding lighting and scenery bugs that would need looking at too before I'd call it the same).

i agree. i wouldn’t mind getting something like a 465/0, /1, /2 and 466 pack too which would make it completely realistic as the hitachi variants are more common in the metro area

If they do the 700 on the BML what would the total services count be including AI? Another 1000? 5,800+

Gatwick Express Class 387 - MSO
Gatwick Express Class 387 - TSO
    Gatwick Express Class 387 - DMCO_B

For a grand total of 39.

A lot of people are talking about replacing the HST with the 700/0, t
he HST takes up 7 out of the 39.

I'm completely unsure how many unique vehicles a 700/0 has, but one thing to consider is that the HST is a power car and coaches. A 700/0 is an EMU. A multiple-unit train would take up more memory than coaches.

BML is *okay* on PC (the platform I play on), but from what I've heard it can be a slideshow on 8th gen consoles. Simply replacing the HST with the 700/0 isn't enough in my opinion.
Bottom line is that BML seriously needs some optimization work, not just removing layers, for all platforms.

Also not to mention the HST is a rare train to see on the timetable, compared to how many 700's you'd see on it.

Worth noting there are no layers on the route at all on 8th gen, which seems to keep performance acceptable. I’ve certainly had good experiences with it, the timetable is incredibly busy even in its “default” configuration.

IIRC, either Joe or someone else at DTG said a while ago that the 387 was almost cut entirely from the Gen 8 timetable back when the route was released. Adding more to that is really gonna push it to the edge, but maybe the add-ons manager will improve that a little.

(i only say IIRC because Discord is down for me right now and I can't search for the message in the TSC server at the moment)

The point still stands that reducing or cutting layers is not a perfect solution, and major optimization needs to happen on BML.

Jesus, that would’ve been crazy. Thank god they didn’t have to do that! I like the Class 387 services since you encounter so many slower trains, like navigating through a tight labyrinth ;)

Definitely agree on BML. I had to bring quite a few friends and relatives to St Pancras and picked them up there as well and with the recent re-signalling of Victoria on top, I spent loads of time on Thameslink 700s going from Brighton to London. Their absence particularly in Brighton station and at Three Bridges is very noticeable. It'd be good to fill that void.

    Great info there- thanks!

So if we assume the Class 700 is 4 vehicles, (seems like most of the EMU's are), that would still be a "savings" of 3 vehicles compared to the HST, taking the total units down from 39 to 36 (~8%).

That's not insignificant, but your final point is important, and maybe we need clarification, but I thought the crux of the issue is that even ONE appearance of a unique vehicle means it needs to stay in memory for the entire session, which is why we can even have so many services on BML to begin with- whether there's 500 copies of the 377 or just one, it has the same memory footprint. If so, the Class 700 would be more memory efficient than the HST even if it appears dozens of times.

What i'd like to know- do the vehicles for the entire 24 hour timetable have to be loaded into memory if the player is not simulating that part of the timetable? E.g. if i boot up BML at 2100 or whatever, does it still load in the HST even though by that time it's already come and gone on the timetable?

Do the all the differing versions of a vehicle get loaded into memory (e.g. the myriad Class 66 or 101's) when loading a session, or just the version the player selects when starting?

Not disagreeing there needs to be more optimization though

A Class 700/1 would have 7 unique vehicles I think:

    DMCO_A
    PTSO
    MSO
    TSO
    TSOW
    TSOLW
    DMCO_B

A 700/0 would have 6 - everything except the TSO.

Caveat: again, not sure if cutting services is a better way of reducing memory load over scenery optimisation as I don't think we have any idea of really knowing where the memory 'budget' is spent/distributed at the moment.

Is there a difference between DMCO_A and _B? Wikipedia just lists both ends as DMCO, so I assume that would just be one unique vehicle.

Ah, well in that case it wouldn't help much.

And good point about not knowing the distribution of the memory budget.

Well, in any case, it seems like they're "working on it*"

*i know it doesn't really exist if it's not on the roadmap
