Coming soon, the Boston & Albany route from developer G-TraX will bring the legendary New York Central to Train Simulator Classic! Read More : https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-simulator/articles/article/bostons-own
What's nice about this route is it will be the debut of Diesel Workshop on Steam with his RS-3. Hopefully the known quality of his other works puts pressure on a certain other dev to do better (Competion breeds quality usually)
Looks great and it's nice we're getting a new New York Central route on Steam, this time in the New York Central era with the appropriate locomotives and rolling stock. However, unlike the other vintage G-Trax routes, I don't understand why there are post-1960s automobiles on this 1960s route, that really hurts the immersion (and attention to detail) of it and is hard for me to take seriously. Hope that issue gets fixed before release or in a patch. Other than that, the route looks nice and looks like a great variety of appropriate locomotives and cars.
I can't wait for this to come out! Now, an ALL ALCO pack?! You definitely can't go wrong with that! Plus, this will be a great route to finally use the Marketplace NYC RF-16!
I think I also saw in a prototype picture of the NYC PA that the wipers have a different placement. So other than the incorrect wiper placement, I will say I can't wait for this route to come out!
This is a cool route. We need more classic 1950s-60s routes. Plus, the B&A route has classic Alco diesels, which are some of my favorite vintage locos. They may not be Santa Fe (one of my favorite railroads), BNSF (another favorite), UP, or SP (also favorites), but Alcos are great. Perhaps future DLC packs could add NYC/B&A steam power and a few new NYC diesels (EMDs, more Alcos, Baldwins, and FMs).
OMG this will be so cool can not wait to do gameplay on the channel with this one i hope its quick drive added
I am very much looking forward to this. GTrax products have always been good quality, if a bit basic looking.
Congratulations to G-Trax are in order! As someone who had a small part in testing this route, I'm happy to see it finally receive approval from DTG. Although I don't run TS much, I'll be adding Boston & Albany to my route roster.
I bought this on day 1 of release. I was unable to spend time with it until the last few days - and that has been restricted due to an eye problem (improving) however I consider this to be a bargain. 97 miles of double track , 3 and 4 track in parts, plenty of industry sidings and small yards. There have been moans on the Steam comments about the rolling stock being "mostly re-hashed" but how many times can you build a 40ft boxcar? Personally the road traffic is just fill so I am not in the least irritated by vehicles later than the 1950s being seen, I am watching the rails and signals (and sneaking looks at the buildings and scenery). Some really useful assets in this. There are a few relatively minor issues and the developer has stated (on RWA at least) that they are being dealt with and a patch will be issued, these developers are guys you can trust. There is so much potential here - freight locals, passenger locals, long distance, switching - maybe extensions through to Albany or to the Providence & Worcester or to the MEC. I prefer 1st and 2nd Generation diesels of the mid 1950s - mid 1970s to the Gevos and SD70Aces, many of which are indistinguishable unless you can read the small print, so a route of this era is a little early but not too much and it is a welcome change from yet another "Uncle Pete". My B&A will get an influx of GP7/9s and to boost the ALCO fleet some RS11s.
I really want to get this as I love the sound of old Alco’s but the reviews on Steam are a bit off putting.
