Don't have V2 yet, but V1 is also installing core weather patterns to Kuju\RailSimulatorCore (Weather\RW_*.bin), overwriting the Kuju files. V2 should also deliver these files - maybe you have not installed them (needed for QD presumably).
I tried this twice. Some of the 37 scenarios do it as well. It seems to be since the route update. I raised a ticket with AP.
I did a bit of testing of this last night. My observation is that the "light rain" pattern is very faint outside the cab and I could not see it either with the original shaders or the RWE shaders in the most up to date version. However, changing the pattern to "moderate rain" led to the rain being visible, again with both sets of shaders. I was looking at and Edinburgh to Glasgow standard scenario that had rain already and started in Glasgow. Apologies, I forget the precise weather pattern names.
Thanks. It’s probably that I’d got used to the opacity sliders in RWEPro and it’s always been like that. It’s a shame they’ve removed them entirely from Pro if they’re still in 2. I’m think I’m going to contact them and ask why.
Don’t think you need to delete it, as I read somewhere that EP2 overwrites EP1 during the installation process anyway.
Anyone with experience of EP2 able to comment on this: Critically, is the choice now between the existing SWEP1 (which is applied in every scenario) versus upgrading and getting SWEP2 in QDs only and otherwise DTG skies, not even SWEP1, in everything else (until such time as scenarios are updated)?
The other option is to update the scenarios yourself. It really doesn’t take very long and it’s one of the big bonuses of the pack, the whole endeavour is so much easier and less time consuming than it was before. The hardest bit is the plethora of options available, but if you just want to get it going set it up for random weather and you’ll get different weather every time you run the scenario. That’s a really neat trick.
The post above my last suggested they were. Are we 100% certain the rain/snow opacity shaders have been removed from both versions? I don’t understand why he would have done that, unless there’s an unfixable conflict. re v1 and v2, I believe v2 entirely overwrites the files of v1. You can’t ever really ‘uninstall’ an AP product. The only way to do so is re-install the route / loco from Steam to return it to stock, or do a file verify (which you should never do!). The one thing I’ve not figured out yet is whether or not, to edit a scenario with v1 dynamic pattern to work with new one from v2, you need to delete the luascript from the scenario folder. Initial impressions are not (and the manual doesn’t mention it) and I really hope that’s correct, because having to do so would be a monumental PITA.
Nope! The Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 also applies to all the scenarios of the routes included by default in the pack, and would be the same too if you decided to add the pack to another route yourself. Just ran a scenario on a UK route using the pack and it ran fine. No issues here. However I'm not sure what would happen on a scenario programmed to use the first Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack, I'm not sure if it means it will revert to default Train Simulator Classic skies or just the default quick drive weather option equivalent.
When I opened one of my scenarios I made using SWEP v1 to edit it for v2 it had been reset to use the default DTG 'clear sky' weather pattern. So I would guess that this is what will apply to any scenarios using v1 when v2 is installed (I'll check a few other scenarios later). My first impressions of v2 are pretty good so far. I've tested the new dynamic Overcast Rain pattern, and it's a big step up from the old variable rain system.
I'm very impressed with the long transition weather patterns and with the new dusk settings - really brings the game to life
For all who had problems with Fog and Stormy weather in Quickdrive at night (too bright for night): AP has solved this-just download and install the pack again, then it will work.
Armstrong Powerhouse has fixed the night time fog and stormy conditions on Quick Drive! Just re-download the pack and it should work now. This is with foggy conditions. Can't see a thing!
Hi, we are having a problem since installing the AP Sky and Weather Pack 2.0 in that on all Scenarios (eg 12.07 Sutton to Luton on St Pancras to Bedford route) the sky has turned white whatever the weather conditions are supposed to be.Has anyone else had this issue. Thanks Fred
I've installed v2 over everything I already had. My only query is that I now have a newly created folder in Just Trains called Bristol_ExetervW and it's completely empty, so, unsure what that is all about. I do have the original Bristol Exeter route but the folder is named Bristol_Exeter_1. Any ideas peeps as to what this JT route is, I obviously don't have it and unsure if it's worth obtaining in the future if it appeals to me. Cheerz. Steve.
Assets\JT_AddonPJ\Bristol_ExetervW is from Southwestern Expressways. Makes the vintage Bristol-Exeter (JT's first route) obsolete.
I'm not feeling this at all. Mist/haze at night makes distant objects lighter than the sky as if they are glowing. I think I'll drop back to an older version of RWE as their fog settings helped a great deal with this.
Have you got RWE running alongside the AP pack? That doesn’t look right. I’ve come to the conclusion today that this pack makes RWE effectively obsolete and try as I might the reality is that whatever I do to RWE it detracts from, rather than enhances, the AP pack experience.
I have, but it's the new version that is compatible with Sky & Weather EP v2.0. I may try without RWEpro later
There was another update to RWE today, but I’m finding that even the ‘compatible’ version isn’t great, particularly as it’s messing with stuff that it shouldn’t be. For example, Depth of Field Enhancements are disabled in RWE, but with RWE active it clamps all depth of field in the game. I’m also finding that with the RWEPro bloom intensity turned almost right down it’s trashing the bloom in the game with the AP pack; everything in the sky is way too bright. Try disabling RWE, get your Ambient Light, Contrast and Sunlight Intensity set right in the game and have a crack at this. Whatever the rights or wrongs of it I could never go back… https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/ufs-2j62-0627-norwich-lowestoft/ I think RWE is a brilliant product when it’s set up right, but if I had to pick between the two I’d have to pick the Weather pack every time because of the myriad of other benefits it brings. With my reshade settings further up the AP pack is looking pretty amazing anyway.
That's the scenario I'm using to demonstrate this, yes. I'll disable it and report back. I'll also try and roll back to the old RWEpro and test that as well.
In that case that’s definitely RWE causing that. I did that scenario this morning (with RWE active ironically) and didn’t see anything like that. Would you like to give my RWEPro settings a try as a baseline? You might be able to develop them into something more than I can. You're more than welcome to try...
I just uninstalled RWEpro and reinstalled it (still the latest version) and for some reason, it's fine now. Weird.
There was that note in the readme to reinstall the Weather Pack after getting the RWE update if you had used the old version’s shaders beforehand. Maybe that was it?
I'm done with it. I've removed it completely. I only really wanted it for fog colour saturation control and glass reflection adjustment, and the new EP pack kind of makes it redundant for both those things.
Did you need to tweak any of your Reshade settings? I'm kind of familiar with RWE Pro but I struggle to find my way around Reshade, I just use your preset like you posted it here a while ago. Cheers.
Oh, it's that one is it, I have seen it advertised but never obtained it, as I thought £30 was a tad high, I'll possibly get it in the sale at Easter, thanks for that, Torf. Cheerz. Steve.
Not really, as I mainly use Reshade for bloom and selective colour management. The only thing I used RWE for was glass reflections, fog colour desaturation, and a bit of FXAA. I can live without the FXAA as it was fairly subtle, and the other two are handled by the weather pack now.
In my opinion, I think I would rather still use RW Enhancer 2 with the new Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0. Looks even better with RW Enhancer 2. Here are some comparisons, also with your lovely ReShade shader settings Pookeyhead, as I love using them! Without ReShade Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 Only Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + RW Enhancer 2 With ReShade Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 Only Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + RW Enhancer 2
I think that's my favourite there, as the one with all the stops pulled out seems to have blown out highlights on the whitest part of the clouds. If you prefer that, then you can make up the shortfall in ReShade by adjusting the bloom settings. Same with levels as well if you prefer the slightly lighter look to it.
Yes that's certainly my least favourite thing of the with RW Enhancer, I wish the clouds were darker. Thanks for the tips on the bloom settings, as I like my screenshots nice and vibrant feeling without being too much overblown.
Has anyone had an issue with plain white sky since installing the pack? Anything I change in the scenario editor makes no difference to the appearance of the sky.
Yes I re-downloaded the pack this morning and it installed without any problems. Seems to happen regardless of whether I use Quick Drive or a scenario with and without track markers.
What contrast, ambient light and sunlight intensity settings have you got set in the game? Is that you on the ATS FB page? If so disable RWE completely, reinstall the weather EP again then go into the game and set those three settings mentioned above to 50%, then tweak until you’re happy. If it’s still not right I’d say you’ll have to contact AP. Given those steps above eliminate anything that can be causing your issue then if they don’t something more fundamental must be wrong.
I’m sure you’ll have seen but AP have just put out a fix for this problem. Apparently it’s down to lower end GPU’s struggling with the cloud resolution and it now includes a patch with a lower pixel width. It should hopefully fix your problem.
Been messing around with the pack and updating scenarios and I am surprised at how straight forward it is to change weather from V1 to V2 really impressive. So far I am really enjoying the pack it takes the sim to a very high level above what it was before. For me it’s worth the money you can tell AP spent a lot of time in this and you can really see that when you run one of the updated scenarios.
Those are cracking screenshots Blazin would love to talk to you 1-1 with regards to settings and RWE2 settings etc could you be kind enough to add me on steam so we can talk 1-1 rather than cluttering this back and force here is my friend id on steam to add me 75651979
