Today, an update came to the Steam version, after which TSW3 no longer starts. When I start the game, visually nothing happens, but in the windows task manager, the process TS2Prototype-Win64-Shipping appears, which cannot be completed - an "access denied" error.

Did you verify your files or remove any mods you had if any?

Of course the first thing I did was verify the game files :)
    I never had mods installed

This problem was caused by Norton Security and affected not only TSW3, but also all other games on steam that received the update. After disabling the protection, everything worked.

Glad to hear you tracked down the problem! Antivirus software can be a little too protective at times.

I was surprised to see that TSW3 had an update, after 20, December 2023 and there is yet another due out on 20, March 2024, Good to hear that you were able to get ya game working again. And with all due respect, my suggestion is to get away from Norton, it's more trouble than it's worth. I have Zero skin in the game of AV programs, I have been using Bitdefender "paid Version" for some years now and it's never hampered any of my games, even the old OG Deus Ex, not to mention I can add 10 devices at no added cost.

The other AV program that is one of the best is Kaspersky along with Bitdefender, and anyone reading this also Stay away from AVG, it's popular and one of the worst AV programs out there. I have followed the PC security channel for many years now, have a look and see here. And I also use VirusTotal to check files and URLs
