When I start a freight run on Kassel-Würzburg and turn Afb on, my brakes won't release.
I tried the ther way round as well, released the brakes then turn Afb on - brakes apply at once .
    Why is this?

Are you talking about the brake pipe or brake cylinder? The pipe should come back up to 5 bar when you release the brakes. The brake cylinder will only vent once you apply power as a sort of parking brake AFB manages for you.

It happens in all german locos having afb. It should release when you apply power and you see the amps go up

Relax. It's called AFB-Haltebremse. Correct behaviour.

    I mean the brake cylinder.
The problem that it does not release after I apply power.

it should take a few seconds. I loaded a service on skw just now and I was able to get the train moving with afb on. As you apply power after releasing brakes, your bc will go down to 0.0. It will still take some time to move the train since all the brakes in the freight wagons have to release. And the train was able to move

Afb on, brakes off, power applied, nothing happens. kN zero, Bc 3.8 and no way to release., BP under 5.

You’re under LZB monitoring standing 25m in front of a red signal. You’re not going to move until the red signal clears.

More importantly though, your AFB is set to 0km/h. You’re not going to move at all as long as you don’t increase what speed AFB is set to.
