just recently i have been watching a lot of Youtube vids of Cajon pass and i wondered why DTG didnt layer Amtrak locos into the DLC. ive also seen NFS locos on this route as well.
What Amtrak loco's would you like to see layered in to Cajon Pass? Not sure what NFS locos are. Matt.
There's no appropriate Amtrak locomotive in game to run on the route. We've only got electric locomotives so idk how they would run on a diesel only line.
Well now I’m confused. Someone has mentioned that P42’s could sub in & then there’s mentions of big Amtrak diesels on Sherman Hill? Are people getting confused with TSC? We have no appropriate Amtrak rolling stock in TSW to layer into the American Freight routes. OR Is this just a suggestion thread in the wrong place?
The user who replied to the p42 comment was saying that the loco runs on sherman hill as well. The loco isn't in game so wouldn't happen anyway.
I mentioned P42 as a cheeky response to Matt asking what we want to sub in. He didn't say it had to be an existing loco. I think the P42 would be a good choice if they are looking to add some Amtrak to Cajon Pass and Sherman Hill in future. I have no idea what the OP is asking for though tbh.
i think i got my thoughts twisted with people knocking on the door and kids doin my head in. What i ment to say was UP union pacific locos on Cajon pass. ive seen vids of them on the BNSF tracks and i know the have there own line.
I've been barking for UP layers for their run from Barstow to the crossovers on the Pass since the route came out, still no response from DTG on why they are not included, or never added in with the UP heritage Unit pack. Seriously.
There's an Amtrak train from Chicago to LA, name escapes me right now. If they would add the coaches with sleeping cabins and the viewing salon, I would love to ride that. Maybe they could create a DLC for a different segment of the route, say around Colorado in the Rockies, and then the train could also layer on CJP. Yes, I would definitely buy that. Found it, it's the Southwest Chief Train.
Thats what I was thinking when I suggested the P42. A new route with it included it and also layering it on to Cajon Pass and Sherman Hill too.
Amtrak trains haven't ran on Sherman Hill since the 1980's aside from a detour maybe. EDIT: Yes they have detoured in the past.
The only east-west Amtrak north of Denver now is the Empire Builder, and that runs just below the Canadian border
Memory Issues or Timetable. If added to Cajon Pass UP trains can only be accessed by 9th gen consoles. Sort of like 9th gen consoles & PC getting BML being populated with SEH
I think he means Norfolk Southern. Here is a video of NS and BNSF pulling a consist at Cajon Pass. Code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TN68Q65yoY The problem I see here is that the new BNSF locos from CJP have the improved braking physics and I'm not sure if that would play well with the older locos that use the previous braking model. CSX has the same problem. It would be appropriate, but the model from the SPG DLC is quite old. Might still work if they are only layers and the different locos are not mixed as would happen with substitution.
Actually mixed stock is quite common I live by the CP mainline and quite often will see KCS, NS, CSX, BNSF and UP cars all on the same train as CP, and a mix of locos too but always a CP unit in the front.
If we are talking about just layers then that doesn't matter too much. They could just put in a single service or something to represent a detour like they have on other routes.
thanks for your repies. i love Cajon pass and id love to go there some day its on my bucket list. i have found another vid where BNSF and NS are joined in the same train i think i saw it about 12mins
