Intentionally leaked, read the description of the image, you are meant to find it. And if you look on the left, you can even see a Class 700

The article literally says “I wonder what’s due through Gillingham later on…”, meaning they want us to look at the PIS. So not a “leak”, but rather an exciting little teaser of you-know-what.

I genuinely couldn't read it, but now... NICE!

A route with these would both be better and make more sense

You're assuming they did it on purpose.
I can just as easily imagine they asked a developer for screenshots, and the developer had upcoming work on his workstation and didn't pay attention to the background.

the 700 is iconic and a highly requested emu even though many people seem to actually hate riding it and seeing it in real life

they’re some of my favourite trains out there. massive view upfront and everything is in a great place it’s almost like a neat desk. they’re really quick, reliable and modern with the only downfall being the seats but first class ones aren’t that bad, with the rear permanently declassified

How many Diesel locos do we need?

How many steam locos do we need?

How many routes do we need?

Christ, why do so many people complain about having trains in a train simulator

Lots more, locos and 1st and 2nd gen dmu's.

We only have a couple so far, so lots more.

Many as you want to buy.

How many push and run emus do we need? Enough already.

I know, it’s tedious. No doubt sounds will be recycled or synthesised from the Javelin or Electrostar. It’s high time classic 3rd rail got a look on. A 4CEP pack to the standard of AP one for TSC would be a Day One purchase for me, both PC and PS5. Anything else, CIGs, VEPs, EPBs, HAPs would also likely be immediate purchases.

Given how the '38 stock was given the "doesn't fit/ out of place" reception, i think the only way this would fit would be for a new period dated route.

Maybe Hasting or somewhere, but in the 80/90s?

The only reason I didn’t buy the 38 stock was Rivet’s ghastly mess up with the silent coasting and braking sounds. Otherwise a lovely unit and no issue running out of period. Likewise the GWE Legends, admittedly more of a stretch. As they say, your railway, your rules - DTG should facilitate letting our imagination have a bit of leeway.

And the user quoted DTG's stance on DLC in general...
They didn't invalidate the question, they answered it in a relevant way from the producer of the game

Not sure I would class the 700s as "electrostar type" unless you're classing all electric trains which don't have manual tap changing as "electrostar type" which I'm sure you're not

The one advantage of this unit being in game is that it can populate a lot of South London, South East London and of course the MML so they can get a lot of track milage out of this DLC without further investment (both from DTG and player's wallets). Also means they could extend north from London whilst already having a relevant HST, 700 and 158 after the MML DLC comes out, so we wouldn't need too much more bar a 222 to get up to Sheffield and beyond with a populated route.

I know people want to go back in time, maybe get some slam door stuff in but that would mean dead routes again because we wouldn't get enough variety to fill the routes out. The best we could hope for right now would be a "backdated SEHS" during the 90s where the Chatham mainline was populated with slammers, and the North Kent lines had 465s and 466s and work back from there.

I'd say the 319 would also be a requirement for most "up to date" Northern electrified routes...
And could be used in a backdated BML

yeah, it’s a bit crazy an 800 hasn’t been included in tsw yet when it’s one of the most common trains in the uk

I really love everyone saying all modern EMUs are the same, as if most old school EMUs that these people apparently love weren't just souped up Mark 1 coaches.

The 700 is very distinctive from an Electrostar, and far more interesting than the boring grey Mk 1 coaches with electric motors from 70s and 80s.

I think the main problem is route miles, same as the HST in GWE (and the upcoming MML) by the time you really get up to speed you're stopping again so you'd need a decent long route (75 miles plus) to get anything from it, and there aren't many in the UK which are that length and don't have a major station... I've seen suggestions of the ECML south of York or Newcastle to Edinburgh which are kind of suitable in miles, difficulty to make etc but anything "London end" would hit the "how many station do you want?" limit

I think it's more a case of they're all very similar to drive... they all have stepped power, stepped braking, you flip a few buttons to set them up and then move one lever back and forth...
At least in some of the older units you had to go all the way back to no power to notch back up again
I actually liked driving the 86 and 87 in TSC because of the notched power and having to "run down" before you could completely shut off else the motors would kick out

Ummm, no? GWE already has a decently long stretch at 125mph, and 800s accelerate up to that speed far quicker.

20 mins tops... I know they accellerate far quicker than a HST but still, PAD to RDG is hardly a long run

**EDIT - Just checked RTT and it's 24 minutes from PAD to RDG in an IET, so less than 20 mins at 125**

I suppose that's true, guess it's a case of different things for different people. I've never really minded trains that are simple to drive, in fact I prefer it. It's why I don't enjoy the 101. I prefer TSW to be a relaxing game personally.

20 minutes is enough for me. I don't like long stretches at high speed. It's what killed my enjoyment of Kassel, it gets boring after a while. 20- 30 minutes in my opinion is perfect. Long enough to be satisfying but short enough for it to not feel stale.

Of course it's different for all. I only drive UK but quite like the BR 101 (so long as it's with the raildriver). Personally a long green light drag in an 800 would probably mean I fail because I get bored, but I can see why people do like them. Either way the game isn't set up to use them "properly" in my view so until we get a decent intercity route, DTG can build up the regionals so when we do get a good route it won't just be these bullets shooting through...

I quite liked the 800 on a recent trip from London to Dawlish even though it was the Castle HSTs that were exciting rather than an IET on diesel

Indeed, but there are those who'd love the Glasgow to London non-stopper from Warrington or even Carlisle... over two hours and 190 miles of "high speed fun"
