Please let us know in the thread below what you think of the Weekly Themes - We have a great time seeing the kinds of screenshots you guys come up with when working off a theme, but if you'd like some / all of the screenshot contests to be about "Whatever You Want" then we can do that too! This weeks' theme (for the start of the new year): NEW BEGINNINGS Good luck!
It's a new beginning of power for Britain's railways. Taken on the Weardale and Teesdale Rail Network
New beginnings are occurring on the Southern Pacific as a "Farwell To Steam" excursion, headed up by a cab forward and a GS-4, passes by a GP9 powered boxcar freight near Donner Lake on a cold January afternoon, in 1958. Route Used: Donner Pass Locos Used: Southern Pacific Cab Forward, Southern Pacific GS-4, and Southern Pacific GP9's (using liveries from the GP9 pack)
The views from Mission Tower are changing as more and more shiny new diesels begin showing up around LAUPT. One of the few remaining steamers on the SP demonstrates that though steam isn't dead yet, it's well on its way out. Route Used: Pacific Surfliner Locos Used: F7 Warbonnet, F7 UP, and Southern Pacific GS-4
I really like the "What ever you want!" theme, however I do not think it should be every week. Perhaps once a month. I feel that having a variety of themes to shake things up every week makes taking screenshots for the contest more fun. But again, it is nice to just let loose and do what ever you want every once in a while to also shake things up.
The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express is seen out of the Blea Moor Signal Box headed towards Carlisle on the Settle-Carlisle line in late 2017, both relics of a bygone era dragged forward to today.
37425 is pictured on a hot summer Saturday at Cantley. The Wherry Lines are place to see an odd combination of old and new technologies, as evidenced by the MK2 coaches, class 37, and semaphore signals, but plans to re-signal the route are already underway - a new beginning, if you will.
ECML: London - Peterborough Signs of new beginnings on the newly electrified ECML, as BR's new 'Electra' (Class 91) loco 91 001 heads out of King's Cross, whilst still hauling Mk3 coaches, since the new Mk4s aren't yet ready. April 1989.
A new beginning for the North London Line. With a new terminus a Stratford, a handful of rebuilt stations, a new operator and new stock, this era of the NLL is a brighter and busier one. Here is one of the brand new Class 378/0s that is about to prove just how popular the NLL will become in the coming years...
Once the pride of the GWR Castle class loco's sit idle as D1031 Western Rifleman pulls away from Exeter St. David's (The Riviera Line in the '50s) on an express. It won't be long before the local passenger services are turned over to DMUs.
Hey folks, Some great entries up there, and thanks for the suggestions for themes - I'm liking Buynot 's idea of running a 'Whatever You Want' one as an occasional special, but please let me know if youh ave other ideas. Quick point: I need to add another rule to the competition to avoid any future hassle ~ this will be added to the post above and used in all future posts: "Due to licensing restrictions, any Submitted Content that includes BNSF content will not be eligible for this Competition and will not be considered as a valid entry." Please keep this in mind moving forwards! Cheers, Martin
I agree that the theme is useful, certainly it should stop the same pics being posted week after week after week Suggestions: Obviously related to time of year so new beginnings, snow, ice, sun, rain, springtime (flowers, even animals etc) Photos related to geographical locations, US, GER, UK, JPN, China, "rest of the world" Photos related to consist - either directly class related or type (freight, passenger, mixed) "not directly train related content" - things like engineer workers, construction machines, level crossings, rivers, bridges, lakes I think the best theme we've had in the last few months was "no trains"...
I just want to clear something up, does that mean just BNSF stuff isn't allowed, or does that also apply to anything related to BNSF, like ATSF, and BN content as well?
With the Southern/Norfolk and Western merger having just taken place creating the Norfolk Southern. We catch 3 repainted B36-7s leading short hood forward train 221 Northbound. Route: Miami-West Palm Beach
I think Having whatever you like occasionally is good, but not all the time. My recommendation for a theme is "speed"
I think there should be a free-for-all theme once a month. Some suggestions for new themes: Bad Weather, Nature, Night, Numbers, People, Steam, Historical, Speed, The Power of Train Simulator (breaking a rule temporarily for showcasing awesome third party mods), Individual Country Themes, Reflections, Staged Scenes, and "Oops!" (train wrecks and such).
i like the train wreak one maybe fails instead because i've had moments when my train exploded and blasted up into the sky and i have some screenshots of that
Great stuff guys, thanks for sending your screenshots this week The thread is now closed, you have time to cast your vote until tomorrow.
Hi everyone! Congrats Railfan722 on winning the competition this week. It was a difficult choice, I must admit, but we bounced the opinions around the office and decided that your shot will look really good on the loading screen JJTimothy, Dom Whibley and Meeper5, thanks for your input as well. Just FYI, we are planning to make some minor amendments to the competition starting from next week. Specifically, the submission closing date will move from Thursday to Wednesday, allowing more people to cast their vote, and we will try to give some more visibility to the contest as well through our channels. The new competition thread is already live here But for now, feel free to congratulate the winners!
