Dynamic breaks are non functional in Cajon Pass for the BNSF SD70ACe which kinda makes it unplayable And before anyone says, yes I have bailed off the independent breaks and have waited 10 seconds after setting the throttle to idle and before going to set up for the dynamic breaks. Very disappointing
So the amps aren't going up or is it not holding your speed. What speed are you going at, what is your consist weight, etc
No power from the dynamic at all. I have tried multiple services with different consists. Even done Victorville to Barstow as a test on gentle gradients as well. Nothing works. The dynamics on the ES44C4 work fine and the SD70ACe in Sherman Hill works fine too. It’s just the new BNSF that doesn’t work. I’m not going over 20 mph either. I’m very experienced with using dynamic breaks and never had issues with them before, so this genuinely seems like a bug.
Have you checked the dynamic brake fuse in the fuse cabinet? I don’t have the DLC to check myself. There shouldn’t be any reason for the fuse to be off but if the initial setup configuration in the loco isn’t quite right that fuse could be off. It has been known to happen in other locos. I can’t remember which DLC it is but in one US loco if you swap locos in a pair to go the other way you have to turn the fuse on to get dynamic brakes to work, so it could be that in this case as well.
Hi richardwwoodward , I've just tried this on PC (Steam) as well and not having any trouble using the dynamic brake. Could you provide us with the specific service name and start time, as there may be differences in the consist and initial setup, please?
Seems it was down to me not waiting for the air breaks to be fully off before starting. I tried today and waited 5-10 minutes for them to fully release (90lbs front and rear) and when it came to using the dynamics after creating Cajon Pass they came on as expected. Anyway, thanks
The issue I'm encountering is upon spawning the dynamic brake is just stuck in Set-up and will not allow the reverser to be moved forward or backwards. I can't change the dynamic brake setting to off no matter what Issue encountered on PS4 Pro
This is still an ongoing issue. I have to spawn the ones I want to use at the start of a route. After spawning so many, I'll save the game before exiting the game or if it doesn't crash before that. Once I resume said route, that's when the dynamic brake issue starts. And every US loco(dynamic brake automatically is in set up and the Automatic brake is released and all fuses are open) I go to use I have to pause and use the reset simulation physics option. Reseting the physics basically put all fuses, automatic brake, engine run, generator field, and control switches back in the correct position. The dynamic brake stays in set up after doing this but atleast you can still switch it to off. The sd70ace is the only us loco that reseting doesn't fix. All fuses and switches in cab go back to normal but not the dynamic brake. It remains stuck. Can put in the reverser but can't put in forward or reverse. And another issue with the sd70ace(which this one is most aggravating) is anything you try to couple to them derails and flies everywhere. Wether if its rolling stock or locos it happens. More so happens with rolling stock. Sometimes I have to spawn another loco, couple up to that, then couple up to said car/consist to prevent it. And sometimes that don't work even. Also yes I been playing the game long enough especially with 672hrs logged(just for tsw6 alone) to know not to couple at speeds no higher than 1.5mph to 2mph. Like the coupler stretches out of the engine to grab the other coupler of said rolling stock or loco I'm trying to build a constist with. The sd70ace is one my favorites and most often used(aside from the mp15dc's and the ns gp38's) while in game. Can these issues please get resolved??? Issues first encountered on ps4 then upgraded to a ps5 back a month or two into 2026.
