Dynamic breaks are non functional in Cajon Pass for the BNSF SD70ACe which kinda makes it unplayable And before anyone says, yes I have bailed off the independent breaks and have waited 10 seconds after setting the throttle to idle and before going to set up for the dynamic breaks. Very disappointing
So the amps aren't going up or is it not holding your speed. What speed are you going at, what is your consist weight, etc
No power from the dynamic at all. I have tried multiple services with different consists. Even done Victorville to Barstow as a test on gentle gradients as well. Nothing works. The dynamics on the ES44C4 work fine and the SD70ACe in Sherman Hill works fine too. It’s just the new BNSF that doesn’t work. I’m not going over 20 mph either. I’m very experienced with using dynamic breaks and never had issues with them before, so this genuinely seems like a bug.
Have you checked the dynamic brake fuse in the fuse cabinet? I don’t have the DLC to check myself. There shouldn’t be any reason for the fuse to be off but if the initial setup configuration in the loco isn’t quite right that fuse could be off. It has been known to happen in other locos. I can’t remember which DLC it is but in one US loco if you swap locos in a pair to go the other way you have to turn the fuse on to get dynamic brakes to work, so it could be that in this case as well.
Hi richardwwoodward , I've just tried this on PC (Steam) as well and not having any trouble using the dynamic brake. Could you provide us with the specific service name and start time, as there may be differences in the consist and initial setup, please?
Seems it was down to me not waiting for the air breaks to be fully off before starting. I tried today and waited 5-10 minutes for them to fully release (90lbs front and rear) and when it came to using the dynamics after creating Cajon Pass they came on as expected. Anyway, thanks
