I'll take a look. Thanks. How hard is it to change the horn, can it be swapped from one train to another?
FYI, if I turn them on using the relevant switches in the cab they don’t work. If I use Ctrl+Enter to turn them on they work.
From what I understood from what DadRail said last night on stream Regen brakes are part of the electrical system of the EMU The electrics on the units being hauled should be completely off the braking system in this instance is air powered from the loco, so the brake translator describes what air pressure is equal to what braking notch would normally be applied on the units (because the 37 has variable pressure rather than notched) So if the power is off, there is no power cable from the loco to the units (so things like PIS, internal lights etc should be OFF) and no air line from the loco to the units so the brakes shouldn't work either But in essence it's being picky just for the hell of it (even DadRail said none of it really matters, its a rivet counting exercise) but hey, people like a moan
Yes, I just discovered that. But that leads to a new problem: the audible alarms (bells and horns) only work for the first couple of times- then they go silent. Which makes HUDless play impossible.
Re the AWS. Sometimes I've found that I have to go into the other cab of the 37 and play around with the AWS levers on the wall before it works in the cab I'll be driving from.
Doubt it. I haver no 37 mods and the only ones on the route are lononmidland/sparmi's asset enhancement, which shouldn't affect it, and bescot's approach control mod, which affects signaling but shouldn't do anything to in-cab audio.
Yes might be true but seriously, the coupling adaptor was just a feature i thought never DTG would actually consider making a dlc. And in this case i really like the fact we an just couple up the ES units we have currently in tsw. Many MUs in Tsw are not modeled in deepness to isolate Rheostatic or Regenerative Brakes. TSW is primarily a driving simulator, which means i still have clear expectations in current standard of the trains in functionality & Cold Start, but when going from a realistic driving experience in the field of "realistic" assistance procedures, DTG would need to model the isolation cocks and valves in a deepness which just doesnt make any economic sense in terms of business. So indeed this type of DLC has true potential, means i would actually go a step ahead and implement more adapters like the tight lock, and instead of having 10 different loco versions, DTG could model the Adapters choosable in the loco Cab. (Dellner Adapter in Cab 1 on the floor, and the Tightlock in Cab 2 on the floor, so the player can choose to mount which adaptor or not use any adapter) Anyway, for me this was an unexpected dlc and day 1 without regret. (The entire loco bundle)
Yeah, exactly. With them all being identical for the most part, there's no reason not to do this. In terms of GSM-R developments/improvements, I want to at least see GSM-R get to an AP level where you can properly register the train and all that/ And then, any other improvements to it is even better. But as you said, if it's all in core, then it's just a simple "copy and paste" sort of situation where they could easily add it to new trains, and easily add it to old trains too. If they make any older routes where it'd be applicable, I'd also like to see them add the NRN radio too in a similar fashion. I'm less familiar with NRN than GSM-R, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to recreate either. But before thinking about any of that, I just wanted to say - we need to absolutely make sure that nothing effects the future implementation of GSM-R. While this shouldn't be an issue, Rivet of course made the stupid decision to make the controls to change the destination display to the GSM-R for some reason...
Nothing new at all I've been on this train since TSW 2020 was released and its all still the same. Just more people on the forums nowadays so more voices. People who have been on board for as long as me if not longer have just run tired of repeating ourselves over 4 years. TSC players have the same issues as we do and have since 2013, and if you really want to know about DTG's history look up Flight Sim World.
FSW isn't really a comparable case: that project collapsed when Microsoft re-entered the flight sim market and automatically stomped on all competitors.
The "some reason" was to allow people to change the destination without having to write for and enable a whole other control system that they didn't want to have to implement. GSM-R was somewhat working (as in the buttons could be pushed) already. Slightly less work (note irony) than writing a whole system for PIS or TMS to get it working and some would say better than no player changeable destinations at all
I always look at it from an old programmers maxim... "My code doesn't work, no idea why" as well as the next maxim "My code works again, no idea why"... In other words we don't know what may interfere with what, but anything you have on your system which others don't could be the thing that's stopping yours from working properly IF you're the only one having the issue.
It's really good to see people speaking out though because if we don't the same stuff is going to continue to happen and I hope JD Matt or someone along those lines takes note of this theater on the forms here because they're losing a big portion of their fan base mostly the hardcore fan base I'm sure you'll have the casuals but that is that really enough to support your game I don't think so and for someone who's been around since the original TSW and I can say some of those were better quality than some of these recent releases I'm not sure what's changed or what's going on but it's time to take a hard look and change something cuz this isn't working
Unfortunately this is a lesson that isn't being learned... These sorts of discussions have been going on since way before TSW was a twinkle in Matt's eye and we're still here. You've been here two years (According to your profile), can you honestly say that DTG is listening to feedback and ensuring that content is released in good order or patched quickly?
I think they've taken some feedback into account on some of the stuff the problem is it's not the stuff we need the quality is taking a dip and not for a good thing I mean I can mention other companies that are a lot worse but I expect better quality considering what they're now charging for these they need to step their game up but yes I understand your frustration they don't always take the right advice unfortunately so I completely understand you. And I've been around TSW since pretty much at first launched on PlayStation just I just started posting on the forms during TSW2 I believe. To be honest up until recently I was quite happy with the quality I didn't really have much of a problem but ever since rush hour has come and gone the quality has really dipped
When they can’t even apply decent QA to the third party commissioned items (Rivet in particular), there’s little hope of getting their house in order. At the risk of repeating myself, I’m going to put my faith in Maik and TSG for a Day One purchase of Niddertalbahn later, but the rest of the new releases to come will be on a strictly wait for the honest feedback and/or a sale basis.
As much as I hate to admit it but you're 100% right The reason I say I hate to admit it because there's part of me that really really enjoys this game but there's also a part of me that are starting to see the flaws and recently the flaws have been made more apparent It makes me sad to be honest cuz this has so much potential It's just currently failing to live up to it
DTG don’t really care if they lose hardcore fans, if anything it’s less earache for them & they can get away with not putting the focus in. Look at the way new content is being marketed, look at all the new bundle offers that only offer good pricing to new players & look at the lack of subject knowledge their community team & majority of ‘ambassadors’ have. Can you honestly say that what they’re doing is for the hardcore players? The only time we get a sniff of actual realism is when the devs do things in their own time, or have the help of second & third party devs. I do wonder what effect all the bad talk is having though, I’m in a few TSW communities & they all have the same general tone. Can’t be a good look when new players go looking for advice, because DTG fail to explain anything in game.
Yeah, but if Rivet is going implement a fancy TMS, they really should've added destinations to that, even a simpler implementation of it, but the fact they didn't and just put it to the GSM-R just feels lazy. And I don't like saying something is lazy in a game or anything, but this just feels that way.
You could put it that way, you could say that without putting every single system, the control interface and a fifteen week training course on how to operate the train with full instructions, a youtube channel and preferably printed PPE with the correct logo and shade of orange is lazy (yes, being sarcastic here) In essence the added a function, possibly last minute and then thought "erm, how are people going to control this?" Not necessarily lazy, but not good program design either, where PIS maybe shoulda coulda been higher up on the list of items essential for a successful TSW release Personally I think Matt's idea of a "TSW standards checklist" was a good one, and the special projects team (Adam's preservation crew) should be working on that list for all backdated and 3rd party DLC, but as seems to be my thing at the moment, that's pie int he sky thinking right there
Yeah, it's hard to say anything without actually knowing what happened behind closed doors, but that's why I said that even a simpler implementation of PIS controls in the TMS would've sufficed. But yeah, I agree about the checklist. TSW can sometimes feel inconsistent at times, so that'd really help change that. And while I would really love to see Adam's team go back and do anything, it seems with TSW 3, they haven't been doing too much work on stuff. At least, we haven't been hearing much updates about it. It's probably not helped with the many 3rd party releases we've had of late, but hopefully in the April roadmap, there will be something more substantial to note - especially since many of the latest releases need patches.
If release standards like trenton seem to become the direction of tsw, ill drop tsw in the same hole as tsc 5 years ago. Not supporting lazyness.
Are you switching both AWS levers on the back wall of the cab? There's the AWS isolation lever and the AWS change end lever. You have to change both to enable the AWS. Works fine for myself once you have done that.
Weirdly, I found the opposite to be the case. Yes, in all old UK diesels what you say has always been correct; but in this one it seems that the cab changeover lever is already set, so by moving it you're actually turning the system off. And it still doesn't fix the problem of the alarms falling silent
Are you on Steam PC version? I only ask as I am on PC and as you can see from my images below when I start a run the AWS Change End Lever is OFF and the AWS Isolation lever is ISOLATED which is as they should be. Once I switch them both to ON and UN-ISOLATED the AWS works normally. Possibly a console or Windows Store/Epic Store version bug? Or..... Is the issue you describe in a scenario? Could it then be a bug in that scenario as I only use timetable mode which is what the images below are taken from.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but the ROG 37 is broken in Livery Editor.... The same as the SD70ACe was in that you can only select one end for editing rather than both ends.
Also the ROG37 3d door modeling breaks in scenario designer routes after using the flyby camera view, and if you walk out of view of the loco. I discovered this when exploring up Branch lines, and checking ahead of the loco looking for collectables. When you return to the cab, the doors are broken, as shown in this short vid... I have informed Support and they have tested for the fault, and agree that it is a issue and will pass it on to the dev's to add to their existing pile!
You get what you pay for. In this case the DLC is 5 GBP which means you can't expect all the features you would of something more expensive.
It might have escaped you that we don’t have a choice. If there were a better option then I’d hazard a guess that the vast majority of players would have bought it. What price DTG set is up to them. Regarding the features that a given product might have, they can’t say one thing one minute then the diametric opposite the next, hiding behind the price and quality of product that they, and only they, can influence.
Some notes on the ROG that are different from TVL Class 37. The window frames and wipers seem to be not affected by TAA, and if you look closely while driving it seems that the front window frame moves independently from the cab - a weird effect. There's also a lot of blurring artefacts on the frames, the wiper and the nose sometimes. This does not happen on the original 37. Again a matter of missing quality standards. The fact that there is already a model that does not suffer from these issues is hard to understand. Of course this is speculation, but again it looks like DTG made this based on the TVL 37 which was done by external modellers.
The stronger the cab sway gets the more you notice that the nose and window frames are physically "detached" from the cab - just keep your eyes focused on the wiper valve... hard to unsee now. Most noticeable on straight sections. I'd say this is the worst model for TSW yet - DTG keep introducing new issues for stuff that has worked before.
We're currently in the age of gaming where you can update a game at any time and nothing is ever finished, but sorry guys we 'ran out of time' and once it's out it's done i guess...
Woah thanks for pointing this issue out torfmeister I was about to get myself the ROG soon but this issue, once seen [...], would make me not using it
Also the 3d door modeling breaks when you use the flyby camera, or walk out of view of the loco in scenario's created in scenario planner. Shown here DTG have reproduced the error, but as usual it's been shoved into the pile of It 'May' be looked at!
Well dtg were on easter break for some time which meant they couldn't have been able to fix it since no staff to fix it. Probably will come in the updates after they come back from office.
I hope so? Though I don't see it ever happening, as they prioritise bugs by severity. If it doesn't prevent game play, then the priority is low in the fix list. Even though the door modeling breaks, the game is still playable. Which I agree 100% with, and that things like spads and game crashes etc. should be prioritised and put at the top of the list.
Haha that just reminded me of good old times. Top Gear: ambitious, but rubbish. Seems TG is not the only british franchise suitable for the slogan.
It's so sad, I already skipped the Dispolock I was interested in after a user here pointed out (or warned me) the glaring bugs with it. Point is, the DB BR182 was working fine (RT) got worse (MRCE) and even ... more worse (Dispolock) for no apparent reason
