Transitstrecke Wittenberg-Halle During the time of the inner German border, transit trains travelled between West Germany and West Berlin through East German territory. In addition, local trains and freight trains were also operated on this line. The section Wittenberg to Halle is 67km long and features three very different cities: Wittenberg Wittenberg is a beautiful city and the buildings associated with Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1996. Bitterfeld Bitterfeld is already part of the high-speed rail line, but you cannot compare today's situation to the 1980s, when the chemical industry made the city one of the dirtiest places in the world. The industrial area could also provide many shunting operations: Halle In the 1980s, Halle was a typical socialist city with many prefabricated buildings. Although the old train station still existed, it was hidden behind a curtain wall. There is also a large freight station near the main station. Rolling Stock This track could introduce the upcomming DR Class 132 (DB BR 232) Most of the other locomotives have already been released for TSW, but upgraded to modern DB standards (PZB-90, Ebula, GSM-R): DR Class V 100 (DB BR 204) DR Class 243 (DB BR 143) DR Class 250 (DB BR 155) One iconic DR locomotive missing in the list is the DR Class 119 (DB BR 219)
As a history nerd i'd ADORE a cold war, eastern bloc route like this. Albeit what era would this be: It'd have to be ATLEAST late Kruschev/early bresnev period judging by the station list. Im guessing around the late soviet era so 1980's? Im guessing if it was itd be around 1983-ish which would be a Cherneko era. The reason it couldn't be any earlier era is likely do to East Germany mostly being only slightly brought up due to the soviet mindset of "Keep germany down" during Stalins and Most of Kruscehvs leadership. Era aside getting the Licensing for a state owned railway would certainly be... intresting esepcially considering recent circumstances. Anyway amazing suggestion.
If you want to know who which East German leader this would be this belongs to Erich Honecker era which corresponds to United Kingdom Margaret Thatcher United States Ronald Reagan Era. There is a missing locomotive here it's the East German DR Baureihe 104-106 Goldbroiler V60 VEB Karl Marx Babelsberg because most East German locomotives had an equivalent on the other side of the Iron Curtain. You should have unique Rolling Stock Rekowagen DR UIC Y-Wagen Städteexpress which is the East German answer to a West German and British Inner City and Amtrak Phase I-III paint long distance services. Keep in mind East Germany ran steam Services up to the reunification therefore to make it a standard East German 1980s route it has to have the following steam electric diesel. Steam locomotives DR Baureihe 52.80 ( this is the locomotive on the posters for Niddertalbahn & Tharandter Rampe) 65.10 23 18 201. Diesels DR Baureihe 120 Taigatrommel RZD M62 DR Baureihe 118
Excellent idea and I am wondering why you did not put in a DR Baureihe 211 242 Holzrolller DR Baureihe 118 Dicke Babelsbergerin & DR V60 DR Baureihe 104-106 Goldbroiler? These are perfectly suited for route. DR V60 can be directly compared to its West German counterparts which we have in game 363 & 365
The thing about the eastern bloc is that the majoirty of the leaders where not democractically related and where if anything just "puppet" (as a simpler term) - If anything the actually USSR leader mattered more then that of the "country" that the eastern bloc nation of East Germany was. ESPECIALLY considering the east german leader was a hyper stalinist who was basically put directly in charge by the kremlin.
Nope - The iron curtain was after WW2 after germany lost to the Soviets and Allies. The only flags thatd be seen here is the hammer and sickle as its east germany. Nothing related to 1933-1945 germany can assure you.
I get it now and for this route if made some of the locomotives will count in achivements towards the original versions for example DR Baureihe 250 1550km Power Surge should also count for hot off the press 155km 243 Dresden Commuter. This can merge with Rapid Transit also but backdated to the East German era. Which the game doesn't make because everything else is focused on West Germany
If im being honest Eastern Bloc in general I feel like i'd rather see more unique routes rather then backdates/merges. What about a Eastern Bloc Poland or Cezckoslovakia? Hits two birds on the head with a new country AND longer eastern block routes. Or even add A part of the trans siberian Railway backdated, Maybe the very western or eastern parts?
If you want a czechoslovakia communist era route Elbtalbahn Dresden Hbf Bad Schandau Schöna Bodenbach (Decin) Aussig an der Elbe (Usti). Towards People's Republic of Poland Hauptstrecke Berlin Frankfurt am Oder ( East Germany/Deutschen Demokratischen Republik) Reppen Posen. Remember German people cannot pronounce polish towns that's why they would stick to using the German name of a Polish City. Trans-Siberian can be done on the final 141 km 88 mi Ussuriysk Vladivostok using M62 2TE109. The last two Russian locomotives are simply the same as a Deutsche Reichsbahn Baureihe 120 Taigatrommel & DR Baureihe 132 Ruhr-Sieg Nord.
For the TSR the VL85 could also be used for freight services if set during Soviet Periods, Post 1985 so Likely Gorbachevs era if Soviet.
Realistically, we will only get this route if there are some locos that DTG can reuse. I took into account that new TSW routes always contain only one new and one or two existing locomotives. Assuming the DR class 243 is one of them, the setting would be 1984-1989.
You are correct furthermore the Russian shunters are actually alco RSD-1 clones. Some locomotives are actually seen in Germany M62 DR Baureihe 120 Taigatrommel DR Baureihe 132 Ludmilla
