Yes ! I created custom mountain models and imported them into the editor, placed them, edited them, etc. And a few more tricks to make it work in the end.
Now, if only Rivet could be persuaded to go back and fix ETCS in Luzerne-Sursee, which is borked to the point of unusability
when going from Luzern to Sursee it’s working fine- the other way is buggy from Rothenburg-Dorf onwards
Very nice! It's a nice route to experiment and work on. And the result sofar is amazing, I really hope you release it and maybe even get it into a official patch.
Even headed L-S it doesn't work properly; the penalty kicks in instantly instead of following the braking curve.
I love Arosa as it is a beautiful route, except from one thing, the lack of "ambient" sounds. Standing at a station along the line, and you think you are deaf... So Rivet cutted corners on ARL...
That would be an absolute dream to have something I made featured in official TSW content. But it's out of my hands to decide this, but, just to mention it, once the mod is done, they can have the source files and do whatever they want with it if they want them !
That's luckily something that can easily be fixed with a mod You'd just need to get some proper recordings for the units
I won't introduce myself as "Mr. Rivet" (which does not exists - or at least he's not named Rivet), but let's go with Jasper. ^^ I'm sure the Arosa Line won't be our last RhB / narrow gauge route for Train Sim World, but we want to make sure to improve the alpin terrain before attempting again. Btw, the screenshots look good Kangaroo Conductor ! Regarding the 1938 Stock feedback - we're aware that this is something we should look into and I forwarded this to our devs again. I'll keep you posted. Same goes for the sounds on Arosa.
I'm sure there are swiss routes that aren't in alpine territory. But who knows, maybe it's swiss, maybe not. I think he's just referring to alpine swiss routes that needs the scenery well done.
i like to think Rivet games need to look at more then just swiss stuff i would like to see new country's added to the mix like Spain,Italy,More from France and of course here in Australia but know Rivet wont come here but yeah out of all them Spain would be nice to see
Jasper. The LU 1938 stock is fabulous and just what I like. I had to refund it as there was no track sound at all. There is no mod available either to fix it. Please fix it for TSW3 so that I can re-buy.
If you can fix it, your company will profit - it’s a beautifully modelled train but the lack of track sound or the classic sound of the electric motors spooling down during braking ruins it. I suspect there are 100’s if not 1000’s of potential sales from people otherwise holding off buying it.
That sounds good. Kangaroo Conductor has done a good job so far, but if the volumetric 3D clouds were hanging in the mountains and not over the mountains, it would be a much more immersive Alps experience. Found an older comparison between PS4 and FS2020 graphics of the Arosa lake. Maybe it will be a bit inspiring for the team! Of course the photogrammetry of satellite images as in FS2020 won't be necessary, because in my opinion the "Training Center" look alone would be a huge optical improvement for the depiction of high mountains.
The other slight issue with Arosa is the jerky start and acceleration of the loco. If this could be looked at in Simugraph to smooth the performance a bit, would be appreciated. However the possibility of another metre gauge route piques my interest, whether RhB or something else like MOB.
Obviously good news! I did well to finally open this post. Thanks to Rivet for answering, thanks to the modder for the Arosa update (take your time). I would love to have another Swiss road but even a non mountainous Swiss road or another narrow gauge road would be great too! Thank you all.
The jerky physics has to be investigated indeed I find it weird by just moving the throttle at + 0.5 it feels like the train is skyrocketing to the skies, let’s not forget as well the shopping trolley enginesound which has to be redone but we probably won’t see these fixes
Thank you very much ! As said previously, if any of these mod files are useful in a way, I'd happily give them away.
I echo the comments here. Beautiful mod work! It would be interesting to know what kind of performance you are seeing with all this added detail. If you manage to have solid frames and it looks like this, it would be nice if Rivet got in touch with you to better understand how you got it so good and where lessons can be learned.
Just want to bring something up: Recently I’m right next to Chur for holidays and yesterday I went to Arosa. I have to admit that the route is very well done, I even saw the table I sat at for a quick coffee! I then gave the route a few more tries and I have to say that it is better than I had remembered. The only thing that kept (and will probably keep me) from driving it more than once in two months is that it’s very ””””boring”””””. The thing is that the Ge4/4 II is so damn well done that it‘s a real shame it hasn’t got a Sifa! I think with three small additional features this could be a route I would drive very often; and they have nothing to do with the scenery which is actually not that bad for a simulator, especially after leaving Chur! Those three features are: 3. A fix for the abrupt acceleration from 0km/h 2. Working stop on request (I know that it was said that TSW might need a core update but isn’t it possible to implement a system that comes up randomly and makes the button light up?) 1. A working Sifa Especially number one would make a huge difference because you would have to do something other than watching the train drive with the set speed. P.s. I wrote this while I let the train ride in the background ;D)
I'd love to see more RhB routes, but there's a couple things that would need to be done better than on Arosa. The loco is stunning visually, but: Physics are wrong in quite a few ways. Real locos aren't "full power until set speed, then cut power completely". Setting a set speed of 33km/h, the loco should gradually reduce power as the actual speed approaches that (tbf, that wasn't a "new in TSW" issue, all the classic RhB stock in TSC suffers from the same thing) The current draw is just plain wrong. For a given set speed at the moment, the current draw is identical whether you're climbing a 6% incline or on a flat surface, which is obviously not how physics work. The sounds are... yeah. Not good. Old RhB EW I wagons aren't exactly a picture of quietness, I'll give you that, but the looping of the sounds, accompanied by how tinny they are, is just bad. I also think gameplay wasn't helped by Chur-Arosa the one RhB route that's pretty much a steady climb at the same grade most of the way — most of the other lines I think would improve gameplay because they bring variety. Really hoping we get to see that someday, along with better traction physics
Agree on all of that! To be honest I think the Surselva line would be the best choice for the next route. That way the Glacier express wagons could be introduced and after the Surselva line the Albula line with the GE4/4 III and maybe the Alvira Gliederzug would be awesome!
