    Quick description of the route
Drive along this stunning south west England 60.4 mile long route during the mid 1980s (1986), With some of the routes mainstay rollingstock during the network southeast period in train sim world 4 on the Southwest mainline Weymouth to Eastleigh and Lymington.

    Intro
Hello, I would like to suggest the Southwest mainline (Weymouth to Eastleigh and lymington) for train sim world 2 as I think with it's unique feature not found currently in any route (that I would explain very shortly) and great opportunity for future routes. Plus I think this route in my opinion is very suggested but hasn't been done yet which is why it is a great route for tsw3.

    Rolling stock

Br (British rail) class 33 Crompton type 3 mix traffic engine (in br blue)
    upload_2022-12-23_21-23-23.jpeg

The Cromptons named because of their manufacturer are one of locos you would see very frequently during this period on this route. Hauling passenger services from Waterloo to Weymouth using a certain kind of coach a 4TC. Also they are mix traffic so they can operate freight trains (which I don't know which ones they did) on the route.

Br (British rail) class 432 (4reps) and 438 (4tc) DC EMUS (in br blue and grey and network southeast livery)
    upload_2022-12-23_21-23-47.jpeg
So this one I've combined as both look the exact same and operate together on the route (up until Bournemouth). As you've heard me say the class 33s on this route use 4tc coaches, 4tc coaches are push pull coaches that work by having a loco pull the train and the coach in this case a 4tc pull the train this happens both ways plus it doesn't have to be between a loco and a coach it can also be between two coaches. This leads me to the class 432 which at the setting of this route operated local services on the route from London waterloo to Bournemouth. When the class 432 operated from waterloo to Bournemouth it would push 438 to Bournemouth where a Crompton would couple up to it and take it to Weymouth across the electrified section of track. Also, to be taken into account class 33 did operate some 4tcs all the way from waterloo to Weymouth alongside the class 432 operations.

Br class 423 EMU (4VEP) (in br blue and grey and network southeast livery)[IMG]
I'll make this brief but the class 423 was a commuter multiple unit used on the route during this time for services up to Bournemouth and Lymington branch line services.
    Br class 73 (br intercity)
    upload_2022-12-23_21-24-15.jpeg
The class 73 Britain's third ever dual modal loco (diesel power and electric under DC) that despite being a bit slow operated across most of the southern region including this route. The class on this route operated with 4tc for some services where they would operate majority of the same services as the Crompton's.

    Scenarios
if you have any scenario please post them on this thread so I can add them.
    Timetable
this shall be filled in when I can
    Layering (in)
For layering it is very simple the only loco layering in is the class 47 (NTP) which operated alongside mk2as (real life unknown coaches possible mk2ds or mk3s) on cross country services on the route. Also, freight will become available if having WCL, SOS and GWE. If you have WCL turbot and seacow wagons will be on the route and will add engineering/permeant way services to the route (which if I'm correct were done by 73s). If you own SOS all freight rolling stock bar vans will layer on for engineering and other trains. Finally, if you own GWE intermodal trains will be added that will operate to Southampton.

Map of route (excluding stations between Southampton and Eastleigh as they couldn't fit)

    DLC

If you have any DLC Ideas please post them on this thread.

    Final words
I hope you enjoyed this suggestion and I really hope DTG might make this a route in the future.

    P.s.s

Quick question to the reader, I've just found out the Lymington branch line (5.6miles) is near Bournemouth and I'm thinking of adding it to the main post. I'm just wondering what rollingstock that were used on the line should I add to the thread and should I include it with the base suggestion. Also if you have any question feel free to ask and i'll reply when i can.

Hey guys would expansion count as dlc as I think they can do a 1970s or late 6ps expansion for this route introducing older services.

Yea it is. Just make sure you describe it like an expansion pack, not a loco or route pack

Would like to see a Class 423 4-VEP unit for stopping services.

Great suggestion, a fairly recognisable layout :), would provide a staple fare from the modern stuff we have been getting recently

Thing is did they do stopping services at this time as when I did my research a lot of local trains were done by 432 but I think the lymington branch had a 423 from what I've heard

They were first introduced when the line was electrified in 1967 and worked semi-fast services from Waterloo to Bournemouth.

Ok then I'll add it to the main post alongside the Lymington branch as they did operate on the line.

Bring it on and why not add in a 4 CEP if it does fit on the route Bournemouth Eastleigh? Why not ask OldVern for the other SWML pre-1988 Bournemouth Weymouth electrification project trains that did Bournemouth Eastleigh section which was under 750v DC Third Rail Top contact?

4CEPs worked the South Eastern Mainline at this time. I don't think any reached the South Western Lines until after privatisation.

just letting you know I've added the 4 veps and Lymington branch line to the main post however I can't change the thread title to include this. Also CEPS would be for future dlc like a 2007 south west trains dlc as that's when they were used specifically on the branch line.

Now I don't know how to tag but I assume this is similar to it. Now I did some research as I only just found your post but the stations was reconstructed in 1986 so the image, I got could've been prior to the station's reconstructions explaining why it might look big.

You tag someone by putting an @ in front of a name. Example tft#6439. Weymouth is a nice place although I think the station would look a lot better if it was never reconstructed.
Here's what it looks like in the present day.

Well fortunately it wouldn't be reconstructed during the time of the route so it would look bigger. Also just wondering if class 40s after being withdrawn did they do any railtours on this line as I'm thinking it could be a layered in service if you own NTP.

gwrfan#3416 The only railtour i know of on the line is the DCE with an lms loco but if we're talking class 40s then the only railtour i know of is the tour in a couple of months.

I'm talking about railtours that happened during the year of the route though some fictional ones could be created if need be.

Yes please. It is long overdue for us to get some slam door EMUs. Also, anything for the South West Mainline gets my vote.

I have fond memories thrashing up Bincombe Bank with a 33/1 pushing on the rear of a 4TC, annoying the normals by having the window down and my head half out.

That was after enjoying a couple of pints of fine Eldridge Pope (another fallen flag) IPA and fish and chips for lunch.
