Hi, DTG! You promised to separate routes from rolling stock in TSW3. When are you planning to start?

But the Acela is a separate DLC, ofcourse it was coming without a route.

That was never the case in the past.

I think you’ve misunderstood what DTG were doing.

They have removed the requirement to own a route to get a DLC loco pack. NOT separated all trains from the route DLC’s.

But I've remember clearly how on one of the streams before the release of TSW3 they said that they wanted to separate routes and rolling stock. Because it's bad to have multiple versions of the same Dostos.
I understood it as: the rolling stock included in the new routes will go in a separate files to simplify its update and prevent multiple versions of the same rolling stock from different routes.
But for these purposes they created a training center.

That was more to do with how they’re named rather than how they’re separated, which is why when you choose a train in TSW3 you can see the DLC name along side it.

There is no plan to do what you are suggesting, it would take a lot of time & effort to make something like that work.

Yes, only loco dlcs in tsw3 exclusive content are disconnected. You no longer need a base route to use it in timetable mode.

Having just one version of a train is a lot more complicated. The game could break since each route needs its own assets for it to work at all.

Nobody says about separation the old DLC's. They can create a new one route separately of roling stock and begin a new era. That's sad that I've understood it wrong and imagined a too perfect scenario.

Currently no plans to separate out the trains from the routes, not sure where that's come from but I presume a misunderstanding.

There are numerous logistical issues with doing that, ranging from how you package and ship that across platforms (steam might be able to support it with varying reliability, the consoles certainly wouldnt), if you have multiple versions of the same thing how you manage that, and if you just have one across everything - how you then support having to retest large chunks of the back catalogue over and over any time you do anything to, well, anything.

It's a fantastic ideal and the team are constantly talking about wanting to do it, but the practical issues currently have no practical solution.

What we DID talk about, as mentioned above, is decoupling locomotive DLC packs so you dont need to own a specific route to use them anymore, and we've been doing this with every loco DLC release starting with the three little ones that came out right after TSW3 itself.

    Matt.

    Thank you for explanation, Matt.
Yeah, English is not my native language and my overall level of it isn't so good especially when it comes to speaking. So most likely I misunderstood.
