I'm sure that everyone has noticed that when the cab signals downgrade on both the ACS-64 and ALP-46, the downgrade cannot be acknowledged despite the automatic brake being in suppression. On the Acela, the alarm cuts out immediately after the brakes are put into suppression, which I believe is incorrect. If I'm not mistaken, the downgrade must still be acknowledged once the brakes are put into suppression. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Yeah, and on Metroliner cab car the emergency brakes ends your journey, because throttle stop working at all.
What I have found on the ACS 64 with ATC, you cannot clear the alarm until the train drops below the speed it wants with the signal. So any attempt to clear it before this does nothing. I want to add here, this seems to be dependent on which ACS 64 you drive. I just did a run west with Amtrak 43, the Pennsylvanian, using the ACS 64 that comes with Boston Sprinter and when ATC threw a more limiting aspect at me, the tone would clear as soon as I pressed the acknowledgement button instead of having to wait until the speed dropped below the target speed. I noticed another different with the Boston motor, the incab display of the top speed never went above Clear 125 even in the sections of track permitted for 150 for the Acela's, the ACS 64 that comes with the New York Trenton route does show clear 150 in these areas.
