Avanti West Coast Class 390 takes charge of the 10:30 London Euston to Glasgow Central as it passes Cobbinshaw on a diversion in March 2023, with major improvements works taking place at Carstairs Junction:
There was some discussion recently about RW Enchancer 2 and the AP weather pack. I do not want this to devolve into another angry dispute between people, instead I feel like the constructive and decent thing to do would be to post some screenshots to compare. So this is the same route (Falmouth upgrade by steam user TobBirk). The same exact time of day, same exact route, same exact season. Same PC. I specifically chose an older TSC loco assetnot to detract from the grpahics themselves. The only non-standard RWE2 settings I have is that I run with shinyness set to 250 (instead of the vanilla setting of 500), as I feel like the shiny metal effect is a bit too strong at the default setting. These two screenshots are with AP weather only: And these two are with both RWE2 and AP weather:
Ok, I'll try to do the EXACT same spot at the exact same time of day: JUST AP alone (At Truro Signal box at summer 13:00): RWE2+AP (At Truro Signal box at summer 13:00): As you see on my somewhat older PC the difference is not spectacular. RWE has a slightly more noticable "distance mist" and also a more visible glossy/shiny effect on metal surfaces. If you look at the trees and hills in the background on the top right hand side - they look a bit nicer and the colors are a bit more vibrant with RWE than with just AP alone (AP alone handles background items and distance mist in a bit more "flat" way). I'd say the AP weather pack is a huge improvement over any default weather, particularly on older routes such as Truro-Falmouth. So I'd say get that one for sure. Once you have AP, then the RWE2 is not going to be such a massive difference, although it still provides a few details like nicer metal textures, especially on older rolling stock and better distance/background items. So my own, very subjective opinion and advice: 1. If you have both, use both. 2. If you have just AP and are looking only for the graphical improivements (and you are not bothered by the ingame consist editor's abysmal speed and stability) then RWE2 won't offer a giant improvement and you probably don't need it that much. 3. If you own a lot of rolling stock and the default ingame consist editor takes ages to load and crashes frequently, then get RWE2 for sure - it will make your life much easier when it comes to viewing your assets, setting up consists and QD prep. Last disclaimer: The impact may vary depending on how good your computer and graphics card is. Mine is a bit dated and not at all a high-end "gaming PC".
Route: Frankfurt-Koblenz, West Rhine Koln-Koblenz Train: DB BR 429, DB BR 146.0. Flirting with the Flirt! (Credit to tryznia.andras for that phrase) 1) I guess ships work for trainspotting also. 2) Surprise! 3) Curve shot. 4) Boppard stuff. 5) Outside Koblenz.
I know, the route is from a more modern era then when the Hymeks roamed it. But I felt like driving one.
Correct. It is a rather simple edit I made of the Vulcan Productions blue&grey skin. I wanted a heritage railroad version with the 3 lights, but in blue&grey.
1) Fiction - Class 158 in Northern colors stops at Frosterley on its way to Wearhead (Weardale & Teesdale) 2) Closed - A claret Class 67 passing an old station with a railtour (Settle - Carlisle) 3) Fenced - MJA wagons rock (London - Faversham) 4) Wearhead - BR green Class 33 on top of the hill (Weardale & Teesdale) 5) Coal - Industrial scene on Ohio Steel 2
Part 1 of 2 4 BNSF GE ES44DCs '6900', '4323', '5156', '5155' have led train VRICCLO1 from Richmond to Bakersfield without incident. Now at 6:30am, the train is ready to depart Bakersfield now and head for Clovis. On the way, the train had to stop at Caliente to wait for a train to pass and then continued on to around the Woodford area where a fault detector detected that the train had a hot box where a bearing on an axle was overheating. The train then pulled to a stop at Milepost 348 for the incident to be inspected. Loco: GE ES44DC Route: Tehachapi Pass: Mojave - Bakersfield
A selection of shots from the 1530 London Kings Cross - Glasgow Central, following the 2009 East Coast timetable. Taken over six routes, distance is 451 miles, taking 5h 49m, average speed across the whole run was 77 mph. Enjoyed this over a period of a few days Part 1, London-Durham:
Part 2 of 2 (My last post in this thread should've been labeled Part 1 of 2, that should be fixed after I post this. ) 4 BNSF GE ES44DCs '6900', '4323', '5156', '5155' leading train VRICCLO1 have passed an inspection of the train where the hot box was detected and it is determined that the hot box alert was a false alarm. The temperature stick did not melt when applied, the temperature gun was reading normal and there were no obvious signs of overheating on the reported axles or nearby axles so the train was given permission to proceed to Mojave. Q:- What do you get if you cross a vR DB BR189 with a 3DZug-KI- Wagon Pack? A:- A big smiley face and much enjoyment from Craigie-C OMG how good are these beauties?
British Railways Class J94 '68030' is presented with the challenge of hauling a little over 30 empty wagons from a yard nearby Dinting over the steep hills to a yard nearby Dunford while facing some light rain showers. I was able to hold the train at a steady 20 miles per hour over the 13 mile journey and luckily as I was approaching the yard nearby Dunford, there was a long tunnel where the railway started descending instead of ascending, and I was able to pick up a lot of speed there. Locos: British Rail Class 76, LNER Class J94 Route: Woodhead
Same route as yesterday, Ostrava Svinov (Czech Republic) to Zilina (Slovakia), but this time in a Vectron 193 226 + 15 Falls wagons. Experimented with ReShades CinematicDOF on all screenshots, as you probably can tell: Carrying next seasons supply of coal for Christmas stockings: This route has many neutral sections that actually work! Pantograph about to go up again after passing this sign:
Continued exploring the Ostrava - Zilina route in a 386 031-9 + 19 Faccs wagons. Departed from ÄŒadca in Slovaka with Ostrava Svinov (Czech Republic) as the final destination:
On a gorgeous Saturday Summers morning, ScotRail Class 320 '320309' leads a service from Edinburgh Waverley to Milngavie. Starting from Airdrie, the train makes its way to Milngavie with 12 stops at passenger stations in between over a 19 mile long journey. Loco: British Rail Class 320 Route: Suburban Glasgow Northwest: Springburn - Helensburgh / Suburban Glasgow: Airdrie
Three random shots from my most recent activities in the sim: Firstly we see the 9.30am pick-up goods departing Temsby, en-route to Carmarthen. In the foreground is the stock from the overnight Paddington, which is now coupled (out of shot) to an early Collett SK and will form the 6.35pm local train to Carmarthen. Next, we see preserved 7802 'Bradley Manor' at speed near Exminster, while working a Past-Time Rail charter to Plymouth. The fireman is already thinking ahead in preparation for the assaults on Dainton and Rattery. Lastly, a lineside shot at Corpach. The afternoon Mallaig to Glasgow Queen Street is pulling away towards Banavie and Fort William.
A few more from me. This is my dream pairing of two GWR Manors on a lengthened 'Royal Duchy' railtour. We see 7802 Bradley Manor and 7820 Dinmore Manor slogging their way out of Plympton towards Hemerdon summit on the 1:42 gradient. Followed by a lineside shot at speed near Ivybridge, and finally simmering at rest on arrival into Newton Abbot, job well done.
This week, the Matrix was confirmed. Last week of December I laid out my Class 158 adventures, culminating in a run across Woodhead. Well aware of that, Blazin and Pookeyhead set the tone by sharing shots and even a video. 1) What If - Class 158 in Northern colors descends on the Woodhead Line towards Manchester 2) Stamford Local - Kawasaki M8 from Grand Central, New York to Stamford (New York - New Haven) 3) Black Widows - Southern Pacific service on the Surfliner 4) Milk Today - Class 33 takes some glass lined tanks from Wearhead (Weardale & Teesdale) 5) Truro Calling - GWR 57xx leaves with a local for Falmouth
Somewhere along the Ostrava - Zilina route learning the 163-234-8 with a random selection of wagons to see how they look
